The great thing about sc2 was all the sc1 money map noobs transitioned to sc2 thinking they were good, only to get slaughtered and find out they're absolulte garbage at the game when it comes to playing real maps.

Fast maps make Protoss overpowered. The deal with that race is powerful units for a high cost, reflected by the fact that the zealot is 100 minerals and can kill 2 un microed marines. But with fast maps, one doesn't need to worry about how much money they blow on units.
Not only that, but one probe can spam 10 buildings faster than any terran or zerg player. Since players are given so much fucking space on that map, we end up with a protoss player that can always outproduce the other races.

@masterkang1024 you know, playing on fastest takes some strategies. Also because people all wall in and have great resources, it is rather hard to really defeat all the opponents in a 2v2 or 1v1 game

That's what sets great players from good ones - they know how to allocate their resources, and come out on top. Now on money map like this, there is no limited resource, so you can make everything you want, and hence no strategy is involved - just tactics

When they see that the video was entirely crappy, they start making comments about it. This is why the comment / rating system was implemented on Youtube (so that people could watch videos and determine if they were good or bad, AFTER they've watched it).

The reason "low money" players watch "fastest" videos is to see if "fastest" players can produce some sort of entertainment when it comes to skill. So far, no one has impressed anyone yet. The fact that there hasn't been any so far doesn't create any less incentive to "low money" players to continue to watch these videos.

With low money maps, it takes more skill because there are more restrictions. With more restrictions (to terrain and resources), there are more things to consider when it comes down to strategy. This makes the games last much longer, and most people think that it is impressive if you could maintain a high level of play for these long periods of times.
Fastest maps are fun to play, but are not impressive. People still watch to try to see if they could be amazed by new videos.

There are soccer, action sports, ball sports... all them has categories because of their popularity of records. So making a category "starcraft" would be stupid. When people watch short videos that they don't like (10 minutes or less), they continue to watch it until the end to see if there is a punch line to it.
When they see that the video was entirely crappy, they start making comments about it. This is why the comment / rating system was implemented on Youtube (so that people could watch videos and determine if they were good or bad, AFTER they've watched it).

You're missing my point entirely.
The reason "low money" players watch "fastest" videos is to see if "fastest" players can produce some sort of entertainment when it comes to skill. So far, no one has impressed anyone yet. The fact that there hasn't been any so far doesn't create any less incentive to "low money" players to continue to watch these videos.
Whenever there is even a small chance that entertainment may be presented, people will always watch videos.

With low money maps, it takes more skill because there are more restrictions. With more restrictions (to terrain and resources), there are more things to consider when it comes down to strategy. This makes the games last much longer, and most people think that it is impressive if you could maintain a high level of play for these long periods of times.
Fastest maps are fun to play, but are not impressive. People still watch to try to see if they could be amazed by new videos.

A sport is an event hosted in a competitive fashion requiring at least two people to participate in it. It doesn't have to necessarily be physically challenging. Golf can be a game, but it can also be a sport. Star Craft, would be an e-sport because it can be done on a network of computers.
