As Gregg said, "they don't call it the Infinity tour for nothing". Maybe he was tired. Doesn't look like it to me though. You would be amazed if you Googled the dates for the Infinity tour. INSANE! In March alone they played 25 shows! I can't even imagine a tour like that. If Steve Perry had no voice left to this day, I wouldn't be shocked, but he does stilll have it. What is wonderful is hearing all the different versions of the same song. The tempo, voice inflections, vocal quality, styling, facial expressions, and body language create a fresh nuance with every performance. Steve never seemed mechanical. Here he almost seems to sing it shyly-an endearing performance.

This is so early in the game he may have had a case of the nerves. Cant believe his voice cracked but from how still he was on stage and how he held that mic stand so much I think he was having nerve issues here. Idk if the Aynsley set the tempo faster, Steve seemed to shorten up the words a tad. I think one of the members in the band was off a bit in the backing vocals. I still love him and his performance here and he does look amazing!! Boy, I thought I was defensive of Steve Perry! lol

Idk, but that can be the only explanation I can think of since in their videos of them in their OWN concerts...I think the tempo is ok. I can hear the faster tempo in this video.

steve's voice is different and more severe than normal, steve that era had a voice sweeter and louder and he could reach the notes.

It is not what we see and hear in this video.
