  • wonder what he warms up whit?

  • speach less

  • he had such a big smile on his face when he introduced them

  • Sounds like one trumpet!

  • Lol i love that sort of latin tone they get. Nice and full and it sounds like the letter z. I think the term is blazing. American blazing sucks.....

  • so in tune

  • daddy taught them well :)

  • they sound so tight together!

  • Yeah they do

  • my goodness only three years?? lol they sound like seasoned professionals

  • looks who teaching them

  • this is really great music, are any of these people still playing, or family members

    that still play

  • WOW!

  • god! maximus visualis! hats off!

  • are his sons still professionals?

  • no they became doctors, i think they stopped shortly after this

  • if im not right there is no copy or music of this tune i mean you could probebly pay someone to write it but you will spend a prty penny

  • me too.. sounds so cool

  • i want a copy of this song

  • I WANT THEIR TONGUES!!!! Thats some beastly tonguing.

  • thats pretty gay, but i agree.

  • bravo!!!

  • this guy is the best trumpeter i have ever heard!

  • @castrewq without a doubt

  • iam 16 and have been playing for 10 years now and i strive to play like that even though i proly nver will : (

  • i wish i can tounge like that....

  • Thanks zooter for the Mendez videos.. I started playing trumpet in '55.. still play some but never got half as good as Rafael..but then there's never been better than him for technique and artistry. Do you know if his boys are still alive?

  • Oh yeah his boys are still alive. They're living in LA I believe and are world famous urologists. Kind of a shame they didn't follow in their father's footsteps, but being world famous doctors isn't too shabby either I suppose.

  • i guess not, but wait strggle with a third part? our THE Rafael Mendez! he never sruggles!

  • I been playing for 3 years and i dont sound nothing like them!!! I hope i can measure up to them one day!!

  • the problem is instruction and dedication, it takes a shit load of discipline, and well the right mix of inspiration and instruction... if you can buy any book by rafael mendez out there, and arturo sandoval, listen to what they have to say and don't stress, practice prqactice practice... and there is no easy road, trust me i learned that the had way, just hard work and dedication

  • no problem, i hadn't played for a year and a half... but i started 3 weeks ago practicing again... i'm going to post a video of my playing later when i wake up, cause i'm watching the soccer olympic tournament, but look out for it. just to show you how in a less than a month much can be done, i'm surprised by how fast my progress has shwon, but at the same time i've planned it systematically. with practice schedules and doing it the right way, with good habits... don't fall for bad habits!!!

  • @ivantpt89 absolutely

  • one of his sons holds his trumpet exactly like Rafael does:D. The other son(the left one) doesn't

  • the audio sounds exactly like the recording that is on their original LP. I think they are lip syncing here for TV. YOU can see that at the beginning they come in late anyway.

  • Excelente interpretacion !

  • man, amazing

the double tonguing at about 1 min 15 is incredible - they keep it all perfectly in time!! :o

  • this is absolutely great!!!!!

  • I'd love to hear them play bugler's holiday....mendez's tone would work great for that piece.

  • I have just learned of this Rafael guy today and he could pwn Arturo and Maynard!!!!!!!!!!

  • Viava México!!!!!! Rafaél Méndez and Higinio Ruvalcaba are not only the gratests mexican musicians, but the gratests trumpetist and violinist in 20th century!

and Angela Peralta (singer) of all times!

    thank you for this videos!

  • wait wait only 3 years of playing? wow

  • 3 and a half... and well with the best possible teacher and instructor there is no questio about it... for example i played from fifth grade t senior year in higschool, i just started playing a month ago, and while the chops are almost there it has been a lot faster to pregress and keep building. prper building techniques and the right approach, plus a lil inspiration by rafael is all it takes...

  • wow, whats even more amazing is the fact that Rafael is playing the third part, while his sons play first and second.

  • amazing trumpet players!!!!!

  • hahaha this poep is awsome!

  • its also amazing that they wait til the last second to lift their horns and play...interesting. love this piece.

  • great trio trumpet.....

  • awesome!!! fantastic!!! Mendez is just perfect

  • hehe awesome

  • What a fine example Rafael Mendez was for all musicians, and also as a father to his two sons, who are both world renowned urologists today in Los Angeles. If I ever have anything wrong with my wee-wee, I'll know which trumpet players to go to!

  • I watch videos of Rafael Mendez and I always paradoxically feel both inspired and discouraged...

    This man is a god...

  • IMBA HACKER

  • good
