  • Thank you for posting this. I had the pleasure last night of seeing Lewis Nash for the first time. As outstanding the whole set as he is in this 6-minute clip.

  • yes!! i love lewis nash.

  • I am a big fan of Nash, but needless to say that the soprano sax player is wonderful too.

  • Stuff likes this just blows me away. God Bless Them...

  • night and stars above that shine so bright

the myst'ry of their fading light

    that shine upon our caravan...

    Bravo Nash!

  • Actually he DOES know about the clave but its JAZZ and there are NO RULES in jazz and Lewis knows that. Frankly, unless he is playing in an authentic Cuban band he can do anything he wants right? :)

  • @145321 word, nobody plays the authentic rhythms in jazz for the most part, playing those rhythms on a set is inauthentic in the first place anyways. And Im sure Steve Wilson isnt complaining. But most drummers playing authentic cuban music play around the clave, just like drummers play around 2 and 4 when they swing

  • @epasurr - "nobody plays the authentic rhythms in jazz?" What rhythm's would that be? I think the idea is 'interpretation of'' the implied clave'. One doesn't necessarily play "around" the 2 and 4. It CAN be played to express time, accents or not be played at all. In jazz, the 'triplet' is the deal'. Lewis played the song. What reason would Steve have to complain?...lastly, there are always rules...not only in jazz, but music period. U have to know them, before u can break them! You dig?

  • Lewis Nash: The stiffest yet still awesome drummer (metronomically)

  • wow. you don't need a bass player with lewis nash.

  • No booty shakers?--Just music? Hmmm.

  • det är ju verkligen inte bra nånstans

  • nice..... lewis nash..... my my
