  • So i'm in spain and its pretty unlikely it will come out at the cinemas here are there any links to watch it online?

  • this is gonna be really difficult for me to watch. my home town practically demolished. I still remember the day I saw this on TV...it was like 9/11, I couldnt believe what I was seeing. i live in Perth western Australia. I was quickly on the ph to family and friends both here and at home....my heart goes out to people still that are there...my mum is stiill there.

  • Just makes me sad watching this ):

  • @ Tayla 159 the song was called Rise and Fall by Nadia Reid

  • Anyone know the song that played at the end of the film? + this was an incerdable moive. kia kaha chirstchurch xo

  • I missed it on tv...anyone know where I can watch it online? :/

  • very poignant movie depicting the emotions, loss, sadness, and enormity of what CHCh has had to endure for over 15 months, Kia Kaha CHCH , thank you for your creative ability.

  • ..when they play this on tv3 tonight..im going to watch it alone...i still can tell people word for word conversation i had with my boyfriend after it hit...the what if he didnt take me to work still haunting me...such a sad day today thoughts are with the familys!!!

  • god this gives you the shit just watching it, i tell ya i aint no tree hugger but the people in chch have massive balls to stay there,

  • I cried watching this. I'm going to be in hysterics watching the film.

  • will this be subtitled when it comes out? would really like to know.

  • $27 on dvd comes out on the 23rd of feb. :) Love you chch

  • I never watched this in the movies because I was too scared too. But when they screen it on TV3 on Feb 22 I think i'll have to watch it alone. There will definitely be tears'

  • What the fuck do you mean by this? What is so funny? People died, people lost there home's. you stupid little fuck!!!

  • I want this video on my Shiny jacket unit.

  • Oh no, we're not moving for that reason. I'm only young myself. Yes, i do love canterbury, and I'm not giving up on it. We just want to move for better opportunities and a better life. Christchurch will always be my home.

  • Is there anywhere to watch this online? I am a kiwi in america and would love to see it.

  • Is this going to be released on DVD at some point?

  • @malcolmjacobson IT is going to be released in March.

  • @malcolmjacobson Yes whenacityfalls dot co dot nz to order. Also this will be airing on TV3 on Wednesday 22nd at 7:30 I believe.

  • i felt sick watching this. one of my best friends was killed in this quake. we're mvoing to aussie as soon as our house is repaired. :)

  • @AstroNinja3000 Yea i fell for you guys i was in japan quake up north i lost 2 friends that day I am Aussie but i was visiting friends and that happened just to let you know we get earthquakes to but there VERY RARE with a capital R.

  • @AstroNinja3000 Why move? Dont move! If this was my city I would re build, keep that Canterbury Spirit, culture and way of life on living! And if you do move there are other places like Wellington, Auckland and best of all Taurnaga to move to. If you give up on Canterbury at least do not give up on New Zealand and have the next generation grow up with Aussie accents and suppourting Suatralian NRL teams rather than the Crusaders! We must not give up on this city or country!

  • @AstroNinja3000 So you're just abbandoning you country entirely? As if there arent other cities to move to?

  • @awaak Oh my gosh, chill out. I have no say in it? I am only 15... I don't WANT to 'abandon' my country as you so bluntly put it.

  • Still remember that day like it was yesterday, walking down manchester after my course was finished, next minute buildings falling down around us. Really was a scary day for christchurch.

  • leave CHCH? why?

born here, I will die here. i am not leaving for anyone.

this is not courage. for some reason i cannot explain i was not afraid at all during these events

  • Awesome film .watched with my family in timaru just after christmas ,will see new city soon

  • New Zealands darkest day and i say this next bit with the utmost respect. 22-02-11 was in many ways Christchurch's finest hour

  • Guess you're going to have more to add to this film now, seeing as we just had another couple of earthquakes

  • Anyone got this film in AVI ???

  • @MrJonjhicks I'm not going to say that i have never watched a movie online, but proceeds to this are going to the people of christchurch and to help rebuild the city and restore lives, theres no doubt that I will pay to see this movie. Couldn't you?

  • @PkBelle I already have paid and seen it I would like it so I can send a copy to my family overseas as I live in christchurch.

  • I want to see it but New Plymouth sucks and wont be showing it, can't afford to pay $180 for a return ticket to Auckland or Wellington to see it and don't have a DVD player :(

  • i was in the center of the cbd on Feb 22 at my work the heritage hotel it was the most terrifying thing i hav ever been thru nd ever want 2 go through. I was left alone in latimer square,my partner ran into the cbd to get me and the moment i saw him i broke down in tears and didn't want to let go of him. after seeing how many people were found dead it hit me and i knew i could have been one of those people. i pray to god that its not going to happen again. love to you all kia kaha xx

  • so proud of christchurch and everything we have over come in the past year <3

  • for those of you in England, email info@ayearon.co.uk for details on the London screening

  • my best friend was in both earthquakes

  • we love you chc - we're all here for you and we pray and hope and we know you'll get thru it all!! from a welllingtonian who cares ( and we all do) xx

  • @mamainmancj Stop spamming your religious bullshit on this video which pays tribute to the courage of the people of Christchurch. If you knew anything about Christchurch you'd know the founders named it after a college at Oxford in the UK which they studied at. At 23 you need to grow up and get a life before you start telling others what to do with their lives. After all as a good christian you surely know that its only GOD who is in a position to judge NOT you!

  • @mamainmancj: Shut your mouth, fool.

  • @mamainmancj stop sucking on Jesus' 2 inch cock. Thanx

  • This city started on Christian faith and has been well blessed over the years so many have gone astray to their own will and left Gods.

  • 1:25 The Basilica was my favourite building in Christchurch. I know it's just a building, but it still makes me sad every time I drive past it to see it like that.

  • Im moving to Christchurch in 8 days !! We need to support this city, get her back to her formal glory.

  • ok i get the spirit of all this

but why the hell am i going to pay money to watch it?

    rubbish

  • @ricodelta1 go away.

  • @ultimatedeatheater

    the truth hurts ;)

  • @ricodelta1 maybe part of the proceeds goes to various fundraisers and charities to help people who have lost everything.

If so then that's perfectly fine to charge people.

  • @chucknorrisfearsno1

    lets hope so

  • music is by Tiki Taane In the World of Light

  • Whats with these "race" comments. we all human beings and a lot of good people were lost on that day. No one should be even making those racist remarks. That's not what this trailers for if you want to rant go somewhere else if not watch to trailer.

  • Hi @chucknorrisfearsno1 i agree very strongly with you this is not the place for that kind of talk.

  • my heart does and still goes to everyone in Christchurch and to my hometown of Rolleston.

  • Great film!!Cant wait to watch it.

  • Comment removed

  • omgsh im so going tu the cinema tu c this, its scary coz its real life and i remember that day, very sad

  • i saw this last night at the premiere, lucky me:) beautiful movie,I loved the humour, the people really make this story. i really recommend people see it. if you're thinking about seeing it please do it!

  • This looks like it will be great, but wasn't there one fatality in the first quake in September? I thought a lady had a heart attack while trying to get to her grandkids and the phones weren't working so her family could not get an amublance? Ok, not squished by a chimney or anything, but still a quake fatality.

  • @Sajadela yes I thought there was too. And there were two serious injuries. But there was SO many close calls. It was insane. We were so lucky last year.

  • It's pretty bad just now!no insurance on rebuilds, no mortgages available, no completing work in case we get another shake cause the Ccc hasn't any insurance

  • I've lived in Christchurch all 16 years of my life. It saddens me to see it so broken, but I know that we will recover.

  • I grew up in Christchurch and it will always be my home. Too many beautiful childhood memories and moments. Thank you for making this video and giving this community a chance to relive through what they've experienced, and to realise how much stronger they have now become. Even though I've left now, my heart still goes out to each and every one of you. This is our story.

  • hows them music call'd?

  • Respond to this video...

  • @FrankFilmCHCH thank you for making this movie.as i sit here in tears watching the trailer i was wondering if there would be a world wide release? or even an australian release? i know alot of people from chch have moved here and we would all love to see it with our families? thank you

  • @zurechtweiser Tiki Taane In the World of Light

  • im sorry, but a movie about a quake that killed 180 or so, while there are quakes that have wiped out thousands and thousands? welcome to western culture, yeah we brag and bitch about everything!

  • @Arwyroe And i suppose you would know this from experience then? It makes me sick that you say this isn't as important, 182 people died. I think you need to gain some perspective. These 182 people would still be alive if it wasn't for this disaster. They lost their lives. And though there are other disaters that killed more people, it doesn't mean that this is anyless significant. When you have seen your hometown destroyed, then you have the right to comment like this, but not before.

  • @Smileyface217217 i Live there... and i think we are a bunch of sissies, many many other people need more help then us, i understand its sad that people have died, but thousands die everyday, where is the movie about those people, we are getting a movie that destroyed barely nought compared to the chile quakes chineese or japaneese, i think we just need to shut or boasting for surviving barely anything and continue living its what the dead would want. instead of us going "well i survive a quake"

  • Comment removed

  • @Arwyroe we are "getting a movie" because Chch has filmmakers in it and the people who made this movie lived in central Chch and wanted to make a record of stories pertinent to NZers. For decades NZers got told we didn't matter as much as the rest of the world - only in the past 20 years have we even started to consider that our own stories matter too. Also, it's my town and I'll celebrate it if I want to.

  • @Smileyface217217 it was there destiny to die. it was the Gods willing. they would have died regardless.

  • @DigitalFallout1 Say that when it's someone you know

  • looking forward to this!! I love you Christchurch! ps, i know Malo too:)

    He is a GREAT SINGER

  • @MsRozulu Thanks for your great comments - if you're talking to Malo can you ask him to contact us on (03) 365-4895. Thx

  • Good luck with the movie I send symphony to the people that have to cope with this.

  • Well I'm proud to see my mother as a contributing role in this trailer. I can say I'm in the residential red-zone and have toughed the conditions. Power, water, sewerage. But the thing that kept me going was the support both nationally and internationally. Thank you to all that have shown sympathy in these tough times.

  • @Bebop2407 Hi there, thanks for your comments - we filmed many amazing people & it was an honour to do so, pleased your mum was one of them. Best wishes

  • This was one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it went down in ashes and smoke! It is so sad! Wish this could stop!

  • That is chunder

  • wow its amazing, it brought goosebumps all over me. scary and brings back memories. idk if i shud watch it at the movies or not coz i think it wud be a bit lyk a horror film 2 me

  • @iwillsingyouhome it's not. It's surprisingly not scary, even with the noises. Mostly it is very uplifting.

  • kia kaha CHCH

  • What date does this premiere?

  • @xGimmeaJ Hi, it's nationwide in cinemas from 24th Nov

  • @FrankFilmCHCH Is there any possibility to watch it in Germany as well? They just show it in NZ?

  • @xGimmeaJ The world premiere is at Reading Cinemas - The Palms, on the 16th of November.

  • Kia Kaha Christchurch

  • I'm the dork with the bus at New Brighton Aid Centre at 1:37. Any chance of tickets to the Wellington premiere for me and the boys :P

What a bloody good theme for a film, resilience and helping those in need!

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

    Well done mate!

  • @carcassparker :) You're not a dork! - you're great & it's wonderful to hear from you.

Can you email us your contact details so we can get in touch. Thanks! alice@frankfilm.co.nz

  • Cried watching this trailer in Geography today. Going to be a tough documentary for us from Chch but a definite must see

  • I cant wait to see how the strong NZ spirit conquers all!Kia Kaha Christchurch! The whole country is behind you!

  • love how the beginning is from heavenly creatures

  • and i still have no water or sewage

  • Fuckin Earthquakes, breaking my city.

Now Christchurch is stronger than before, and we will not give up until we have a World-class International City once more.

  • I think they need to remake the japan earth quake movie, so its more like this rarther than just another gay 2012 movie.

  • Please find a distributor in London.

  • Brings it all back at once...but still going to watch it, should bring a few tears but our city will rebuild better than ever :' )

  • Pretty sad video.

  • Wonderful. It looks awesome!

  • Incredible, brought tears to my eyes. The destruction of my beloved home.

Thank you so much to all those who took part and made this film possible.

  • @andypandy21 Thanks for your lovely comments.

  • I don't think I can do it ... yet. The noise...alarms, screams, endless helicopters (afterwards) and the fear in people's faces...

  • when is it being realised

  • When is it opening?

  • @thewilberforces Opening nationwide in cinemas from 24th Nov thanks

  • this film looks and sounds amazing... can't wait.

  • 1:08 is that supposed to be die or died?, coz that just confused me.

  • God bless Christchurch!

  • @ary2000 I'm assuming you didn't watch that documentary "The hour that shook Japan?"

  • @happik i did not. but my point was that there are so many emotions fed into that.

  • @ary2000 how do you know? they might have made one or might make one? Natural disasters are no competition and i get sick of people saying dumb things like that, its so irrelevant, cause we experience what we experience and that goes for Japan, Turkey etc....dont get me wrong, i agree that theirs was worse well only due to the friggin huge tsunami, the earthquake was not worse.

  • @stopbeingnasty my bad, apparently im not very good at expressing myself. i meant to say that things like these get so unnecessarily emotional. i mean sure its a tragic thing that happened but there is that and then there is dramatizing.

  • @ary2000 dramatizing? ah dont think so.....it was real and lives were taken and believe me when i say im not the kind to be all dramatic, but these on going after shocks were seriously very dramatic....lol at saying dramatic that many times.

  • @ary2000 Where abouts r u from?

  • @TheGibbznz New Zealand

  • Comment removed

  • wow that lil snippet made me cry even.......

  • @ColorfulDicks grow up dick

  • @milimambo

    But it's a joke!

  • @ColorfulDicks stop showing off in front of your friends, attention seeker

  • @carcassparker

Looks like SOMEONE is projecting themselves.

  • @ColorfulDicks you are an absolute wanker.

  • Well done to the maker of this film. Its hard for me to watch as I was in the CTV building with my two young children when it collapsed. Its great to see the people of CHCH staying strong and rebuilding their beautiful city. Thanks to the wonderful men and women who rescued us x

  • whats the name of the song from like 1:26?

    looks awesome by the way.

  • @fredrickjsimpson Hi - it's by the wonderful Tiki Taane from the album In the World of Light.

  • I don't think I could stand to watch this just yet. Brings back all the fear and horror of that awful day, I couldn't even watch this!

  • cool

  • Will this be showing in Australia?

  • @jashoney1 Hi there, yes we are hoping to release in Aust, if you 'like' our facebook page we'll post release updates as they come to hand. Thanks

  • I was working the day of the quake.. I accidently over-did a steak because of it but I couldn't take my eyes off the tv because of what happened :'(

    <3 from Waiheke Island

  • "whats ya name? - I'm Malo" (english translation: "well done" or "good job") - BEST line of the entire trailer... MALO to the filmmakers; a CHCH born - but Welly grown kiwi now living in LA - My parents live in CHCH - and nothing has made me feel more like I should move back, than your trailer. MALO MALO MALO to you! :)

  • @geekylie Thanks so much

  • im 10 and think it is awesome, u should bring it out on dvd so those peeps that dont like going to the movies in chch can see it in there own space!

  • Great trailer, not sure I will be able to go and see it, not yet anyway. The bit that gets me is the sound of the alarms, it's my most vivid memory from the day (Feb 22nd) itself.

  • yup, seeing those kids under the table, although they are practicing it is real if you know what i mean, the kids did this on a daily basis. My daughter was in the bathroom during the Feb quake, she had to lay on the floor and still hadnt done her business! LOL All that mattered to me that day was getting to her.

  • @stopbeingnasty Oh no and then there would have been no water! Pleased you and your daughter are ok! Thanks for sharing your story. Best wishes to you.

  • I wish I would have a clever idea to make money off people's misery for once.

  • @cloudanu this guy has a small penis.

  • @cloudanu Thanks for your comments.

The crew on this project are Chch locals who experienced the eqs and have lost friends, colleagues and homes.

We love Chch and are pleased to be able to give the 'people' of Chch a voice... Take care

  • Almost lost my aunt and my best friend on the Feb quake. Thank god he missed the bus that day or he would've been gone. Was on Skype to him until 15 minutes before the Sept quake too.

This will be my 'cry like a little baby' film, if I do have the guts to watch it.

  • @KamirosPallas Pleased your family and friends were ok, so many strange and lucky escapes... makes you appreciate life more. I know all our thoughts are with those who lost loved ones....

  • This movie will be great for us folks in Canterbury.

We all lived through this event and have so many stories to share.

It really was like our own Sep 11 moment in history.

Many may not be ready yet to watch it, but it will be there for them when they are.

Grasping the scale of it is still ongoing for all of us, as we witness the growing empty space of our CBD and surrounds.

Going to be very emotional watching this amongst my fellow cantabs.

  • @Hyperluminal

"It really was like our own Sep 11 moment in history."

I know what you mean, but it was natural and 9-11 was an attack.

Maybe Opération Satanique was our 9-11? But only 1 person died so maybe not.

I just think being attacked is quite different.

    -not in reply to you

I was talking to a friend who'd been in this quake when the Sendai quake hit.

But since my house wasnt falling over I told him it was "probably way smaller than NZ"

Nz needs to hire some Japanese engineers, they rule

  • @Hyperluminal Thanks for your comments - take care

  • KIA KAHA OTAUTAHI! WE LOVE YOU!

    ... i cried like a baby.

  • @imabigbooooyy Thanks for your lovely comments we love Otautahi too!

  • going 2 christchurch for a holiday in 2 weeks for the 1st time since everything happened this will be amazing

  • Memphis Belle guy! Fuck yeah!

  • @versaillesNZ Shane is awesome!

  • Will we be able to see this in the UK? Will it be on YouTube?

  • @YTsamNZ Hope to release in the UK some stage. Like our facebook page when a city falls and we will post release updates. Thanks

  • Just when you think you couldn't possibly shed anymore they stream out

  • This put me in more than just tears haha..

I live in Chch, experienced all the earthquakes and aftershocks. Still gets me every now and then.. Something so bad that we have gone through, and most of us still live here and are rebuilding our home city. I love Christchurch!
