AMEN- never underestimate Mick Taylor; the most under-rated guitarist alive. Still, Rolling Stone did a story on John Mayer, Derek Trucks and John Frusciante calling them the "new guitar gods". Nice to see Clapton kind of doing a little mentoring with them, passing on tradition, though Derek's family, etc. had plenty of that. I see Derek's fingerstyle prodigy like an early Mark Knopfler, waiting to take the silver AND the gold! May they all prosper and live long!

honestly i think tedechi is a better musician than derek. he hasnt yet realized that you can't ALWAYS play on the off beat, it comes off sounding awkard and unsure

Even though his uncle Butch is a drummer, there is obviously a music gene in the Trucks family. Or maybe, it's the Allman Brothers music that is so pervasive? Whether Derek was born a musician, learned to be one at the knee of Duane Allman or just channeled the karma from being named after Derek & the Dominoes, the guy's got talent and is obviously smart enough to marry well. :-)
