@ntfd125 In general, great goalies don't need to make a second save because they were in position to control the first one. Fleury is the best in the league right now, but just saying. Doesn't sound like you've ever played hockey.
@cdavybabygravy Tell that to Thomas, Roy, Brodeur, etc. I played goalie for 11yrs going on 12. I actually got this quote from one of the coaches at Bandits goalie school. I take it you've played hockey and you of all people should understand that things don't always go by the book. I take it you've never played goalie, you're most likely a D-man.
@ntfd125 Of course things don't go by the book, hockey is a game of mistakes. That doesn't mean we don't try to control the rebound of every single shot we face. Naturally, the 'great'est thing to do is to both stop and control the first shot. Thus, great goalies don't have to make 3 back to back to back saves on a day to day basis. Bottom line, you can't judge a goalie on one set of saves. Hall of fame goalies consistently make saves at the right times of games though out their entire career.
@cdavybabygravy Yes you are correct but all goalies can control the the first shot and rebound. That doesn't make them great goalies. The great goalies are the ones who when out of position or give up a second and third shot can still make the save. No you can't judge a goalie by one set but I watch the penguins every game and Fleury makes the saves when needed. Now I wouldn't call him a HOF goalie yet but he is one of the best. My comment is for goalies in general not just Fleury.
Well that was the Isles so I think that doesn't count *lol*

Fluery is overrated, but that was a great save.

Fleury may be the starter for Canada in 2014
iLuvBarRefaeli 3 months ago
@iLuvBarRefaeli Ya most likely Brodeur will be retired by then, i think it will be Fleury starter with Ward backup, maybe even Price or Reimer.

I love how two Penguins players are behind the goal line with no one to guard when puck is in front with a wide open Islanders player..

"hall of fame goalies make the 3rd save" ?!? hall of fame goalies control the rebound and rarely have to make second, let alone third saves. lol
