  • SATUS QUO VERSION SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Schrecklich.

  • And by the "BUNDESWEHR!" LOL

  • Cooler Song !! We danced this again and again in the Year so 1983/84 i believe .A very good song.

  • @Sonrazuma

  • What? This is Boringland&Boredland. But still the origin..

    So get a move on..

  • Wow, I think I'm related to one of these guys. Haha. Last names Bolland too. Lol!

  • Glad to be family of 'em!

  • This song really hit the nerve back then with the huge anti-nuclear missile demonstrations of the early 80's. Funny how British did not notice this before Quo did their version.

  • @konked I am british and I did notice this version before the shyte Quo edition I was listening to this and Nena 99 Luftballons :)

  • dis is my faborite

Check it out on my channel. German Bundeswehr-melancholy.

  • genius

  • i never heard this version until now but i still think status quo is better

  • Search for fun which country's has fight the longest war?335 years!! the Netherlands..now i know ::::that's why this song is made!

  • 77? Wikipedia states 1981!! Anyone?

  • ::D:D:D:D:D:D:D STAND UP AND FIGHT !!!

  • Bet they didn't complain about the money they made out of the SQ version. Strange Quo heard this cold sounding 80s thing and thought they could cover it! I reckon they improved the sound with a more earthy feel than this souless original version.

  • @Freakster1970 Yeh although my favourite bit (the drum solo before the key change is epic in this version but I prefer the Quo version possibly one of my favourite Quo songs). And I like guitars better then stabby synths.

  • @Freakster1970 Do I detect some irony in here?

  • @Freakster1970

Bet bolland&bolland didn´t guess that a SQ was looking for a crapy song like this, or what? Don´t turn this shit around. You think Mr Lancaster or Mr Coghlan would like this shit..?

  • no doubt this is the best version, i got this single from my friends in 1983, when i was in the army. as for status quo, they suck, if you're looking for static monotone music, listen to status quo, they got it!

  • @hobscunk

    Get outta here"

  • singers are not like warriors XD

  • why every lyrics say"smiling faces as you wait to land"? as the song clearly says "smiling faces on the way to nam"!

  • @henpuusi

because thats what Status Quo is actually singing

  • @henpuusi This is better than Status Quo....Sorry! P.S I have the Orginal Single!! :)

  • This is classic and original.I agree with other people--Status Quo completely ruined and killed this song.

  • i like the status quo version better

  • @henpuusi

    fuck you

  • @s10oleg go lick your mom's hairy nipples before i smack you up so bad google aint gonna find you

  • wout jonker (geen bommel) Jimaldon

  • well, status quo made it better for sure, this one sucks!!!

  • Hi,

Rob and Ferdi were good friends of mine, and this song has his origin because I saw the movie Apocalypse now in 1979 in the States and they borrowed my LP with the soundtrack score haha. Inspirations.?!. Saw them evryday in the 70's !

    Kijkduin The Hague forever !!

    Wout

  • @GALEI4 is this Wout Van Bommel?

    Wout

  • do both of them sing or this a video trick ? please answer

  • used to roll a blunt late at night during guard duty hearing this ...not a mothafucking care in the world...then fall asleep in my post then a female officer arrives at 6am and is kicking me , i get up yawn , and said i was pretty tired and she covered my ass!! Nice woman, 30 minutes later i've climbed onto a tree to see the sunrise she passes with her jeep looking me with a "what tha fuck?" look

she propably thought i was crazy

  • this vidio is a bestseller

  • Already in 1977 ?

  • This is of course the best version. No doubt about that.

  • This is crap compared to Quo!!!

  • @U31C you are a idiot

  • @U31C get yr vagina checked sir

  • the best was the song writing from rock me amadeus for falco!!

    FaLco rip

  • In my opinion is this the better version of this song cause it transports the feeling and the meaning of the lyrics better.

  • At that time i love this song. But the Status Quo version is much better, more powerful. Quo will release it again at 29.09.2010, as a honor the the british soldiers in afghanistan

  • @JotheBytle Shame they dont concern themselves with the plight of the Afghans caught in the crossfire, soldiers get the luxury of choice, the Afghans and Iraqis killed because of us dont.

  • @JotheBytle work it out ya dicks

  • not bad but the Quo's version is better in my opinion (hate to say it but sometimes remixes are better than originals ... :/)

  • haha, the hair of the keyboard-guy, priceless.

  • LOL, not much going on in the band in this one.

But Bmags82, if you look closer, it DOES eject the shells. In the top.

  • Magical Uzi that doesn't eject shells

  • Muahahahahahaha, awesome video footage.

  • oh god ..shit version...Quo´s much better...

  • StatusQuo are the Best Rock Every and the In the Army now. And any way Quo can Out Play them any Day .

  • I first heard this song on the radio at work in 1986,and i thought "it doesn't sound like the kind of song Quo usually play".I thought they wrote it all these years.Having heard this version,i kinda like it.Better than Quo? Hmmm....i dunno.

  • Great song!

  • Well I aint heard of these before and thought this was by Staus Quo.Gotta say the status qou version is best!

  • This one is much better than the Quo. Real soul of the song.

  • @phincaphe lol.are you joking? this version is better? lol..good joke

  • @TheChrischi1981 I meant it. Quo didn't understand the feeling...

I don't know, but I like this, especially the second part (Hand grenades flying over your head...)

  • @phincaphe yeah its not bad in this version...but of course its not a big wonder, that the Quoversion went to #1 ;)

  • @TheChrischi1981 OK, it's just my idea.

  • @TheChrischi1981 In the U.K it went to number 2.

  • @DavidJHarrisonEssex yes its true..but in other parts of europe it went to #1

  • Thank you for this nuber.. I haven´t heard it since i was teenager in the 70´-80´.. ;-)

  • Why is this Band called after my actual History-Teacher?

  • status quo version is better

  • It's a song I first heard in 1984. ORIGINAL SOUNDS MUCH BETTER THAN PERFORMANCE STATUS QUO

  • the year was 1985 i think

  • the version of Status Quo is waaaay cooler

  • Congratulations. Don't think anyone in the history of the solar system has managed to get the words "status quo" and "cool"[er] in the same sentence.

  • @trossachs2003, You don't know much about Status Quo then obviously. I bet you think they only know 3 chords etc right? I bet further that you probably don'ty even know what a chord is. Just think about this for a second, in the 70's Quo started to wear t-shits, jeans and white trainers or plimsolls, now next time you are out in a bar, pub or walking in the treet, have a look what all the young trendy and 'cool' people are wearing, yep you guessed it. T-shirt, jeans and trainers.

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic. Haven't heard this for years. Don't think I ever saw the video...what year was this?

    And look, catweazel on keyboards.

  • 1977

  • this song reminds me of the gremmlins

  • Hear the Tina Dico version!

    It's amazing!

Search: Tina Dickow In the army..

  • Personally..I prefer the 1986 version of Status Quo...as it was that version that inspired me to join up....and here we are today...lol

  • @TheMeningate An anti-war song made you join the army? That's weird.

  • Really Topsong. This orginal song is must better than the Status Quo cover. 5 stars

  • ....this is nice ... original version from Bolland& Bolland

    ...the rest was Status Quo

.bud Ferdy en Roby zijn echte mannen!

Hoor ik het good? For Terezia yes!

  • the only decent song from the album "the domino theory!

  • Anyone got "The domino theory" ???

  • @luffe1966 yes i got it

  • DENTAL PLAN!!!

  • Who is the social network V kontakte please visit my group dedicated Bolland & Bolland

  • Cool.

The synthplayer made in the 80ties a very good album himself. Look for Johan Timmer on YouTube.

..siehe Amadeus oder Army now.. .. ..starkes Team, aber ned immer ganz korrekt ;)

  • Status Quo must never be forgiven for murdering this "classic". Bolland & Bolland never got the recoginition that they deserved in the UK for this this song!

  • @towneegirl5 well, status quo recorded it 9 years later, so I guess the timed it better, and still think it's a very good cover...As with much covers, it gives the original a chance on a come-back. Seeing that, after status quo, this single still didn't peak, I guess many people disagree with your opinion.....

  • @arsus68 I do apologise, that comment was made by my dad, forgetting to log out of my account, he's a fool. Sorry guys!

  • @towneegirl5

    So damn right.

  • @towneegirl5 How dare you.... Status Quo made it so much better they did a music video with the Freaking british Army! Bolland and bolland murdered it before someone else could murder it.

  • @archiaskcommando as long as you did not listen to the "Domino Theory" you should KEEP QUITE

  • on keyboards in this clip is Johan timman

, he was a dutch Moog nut that released

a few albums in the early 80s

    (trip into the body)

  • This a great Song.I loved this Song. And we dance and Dance.

  • Niiiice moogs!

  • wouuuuuuuuuuwooooooooooooooo you're in the army now :D

  • then.. why the hell do you watch this?

  • Das ORIGINAL, das ganze "Domino Theory" Album ist eine klasse Geschichte und "you are in the Army now" sollte im Zusammenhang gehört werden. VG G.

  • no i meant to say what a f***ing row whoa whoa what a f***ing row lol, sorry quo's version blows hole in this when they play it live

  • NO way , this version is the original and by far the MOST kick ASS

There's so much drama in this song ,,,notice how the drums make their entry

  • what a f****ing row

  • i love this song, much better than the Status Quo's version. STAND UP AND FIGHT !

  • I love this song to. The best for me and the original.

  • awesome!

  • You've got orders don't shoot on sight

Your finger's on the trigger but it don't seem right

  • I did hear at first the 12 inch long play version, in a club in Hannover in the 80´s . This is the ultimate version. F*** o** Status.

  • Me too (the "Rotation").

But honestly, I just this once prefer the Status' cover. The original is nice, but IMHO too synth based, especially in the first verses. The Status Quo slow guitar creates a kind of suspense which works well, I think.

  • you should now the complete story of the Domino theory . Greetings G.

  • I like the voice, but music is kinda... strange. Maybe it's because I heard Status Quo's version first.

  • this was miles better then the version that was released 8 years later by status quo

  • This original version, much better than Status Quo.

  • this could have been done in 1969 so ahead of its time

  • the guitarist is no life

  • This original version beats the crap out of Status Quo

  • Indeed :-)

  • @Lasselkv28 wrong way round, quos is better... this is ok, but quo made it a better song, of how it was meant to be... rock on the quo

  • @rebel19821 i dont think quo made a beter song . this sounds more sensitive and touching

  • @Lasselkv28 IT ANALLY rapes it, yet many people thing it's a status quo song , i think this song wasn't promoted the right way so not many people got to hear it, which is sad cause i'd put that song in my top 10 list , and i'm a picky motherfucker

  • @BayouBluesMan

Also on my favorite top 10 for sure.

In the 80´s when i was a little brad, my dad used to listen to Bolland & Bolland quite often and i sure got a hang of it :-)

  • @Lasselkv28

the complete "Domino Theorie" Album is Great and shows the Horroshow about it.

  • @Lasselkv28

    Well, agreed, partly!

Original is best, but SQ made it known worlwide, so... we can watch the original..!

Anyway, good muzic is, will always be, good!

    Cheerz/MZG

  • Great Song!

  • The Bolland brothers have always been a bit belittled by music business (although they were quite successfull), still dunno why. They're genius.

  • TEREZIA ...Love you ...i heb nog steeds gek op jullie!!!!!

  • status quo is better

  • would they be better if these guys didnt write it down?

  • elle est vraiment chouette cette version !

  • wow amazing for its time

  • Better than Status Quo. I heard this song in a aircraft to Mallorca 1983. Nice memories.

  • First time I've heard the original.

    Cover by Quo much better.

  • I remember being stationed in Germany in the late 70's. Dancing at a German disco hearing this song,

  • That's Johan Timman on synth. he also played on "Sausalito Summernight" by Diesel.

  • Soldiers, Smiling faces on their way to hell.

  • smiling faces on their way to nam..

  • Funny, that Status Quo version is far more known. First time I heard this original.

Video is funny as hell, and bass sound like farting. I prefer Status Quo version.

  • That better than Status Quo.

    This is very good song/

    Zaebataya pesnya!

  • i thought status quo wrote it???????

if it is a cover it's way better than the original

  • this is the original. status quo version was released in 1986

  • i prefer quos version, lot more oomphf in it...and sounds better

  • Sweet.

  • This is much better than Status Quo. And it is original

  • this is the original version. They composed this song and later status quo covered it.

  • that an uzi or ingrams... typ.. dutch

  • Dit is en blijft de allerbeste versie.

Slechts bereikte het de tipparade in november 1981.

  • If the song is that crappy, so why did the oh-so-divine Status Quo cover it? Hm?

And by the way: Can't you just say politely "I like the Quo's version better than this one?" like other people would? I mean, without these dull and dumb clichés about 'only the british and US...', the Dutch making cheese, the Italians all mafiosi, the Germans all "Achtung! Shweinehund!"

  • was meinste mit achtung schweinehund? xD

  • achso... ok danke ;D

  • Bolland and Bolland did this in 1977 I remember hearing this in Germany when I was in the British Army and always preferred this version. Status Quo never did this song the VAH-VAH-Voom that Bolland and Bolland did.

  • Aha so that's why it says 1977 in the bottom right corner at the start.

  • Status Quo version absolutely sucked. Very boring. This, however, rocks.

  • great tune - better than Status Quo imo.

I hope, B&B received a huge cheque from Status Quo for producing their biggest selling single.

Thx for sharing this clip here.

Btw: does a video from B&B "The Boat" exist?

  • This more like the gulf war?

  • one of the best songs against war

  • This was no more an anti-war song than "This Is The army Mr Jones" (also on Youtube). It was a "let's make lots of money from a song" song based upon an artistic creative thought.... Bolland And Bolland were hardly indentified with pacifist ideology. Indeed Status Quo performed it to the Navy during, I believe, the first Gulf War and received a rousing ovation when they changed the word "army" to "navy." ...... Great song but let us not get carried away by it.

  • Avro boven in beeld NEDERLAND RULEZ.

Avro above in the screen The Netherlands rules

  • some aspects realy are better than of status QUO

  • These two Dutch guys were the producers of the famous Austrian singer Falco and wrote the worldhits Rock me Amadeus and Jeanny
