All I hope for, as a trekker, is that for Trek 12 they respect trek cannon on important things, like Klingons. I like what JJ did with Star Trek and hope the next one is even better.
@kirkheads why do you mean respecting cannon in respect to Klingons? I believe they could loically have both smooth headed and ridged klingons because of the episode in Enterprise, i'm not sure if every single Klingon ended up with a smooth head, i think it would only be those who caught the virus that was being cured in that episode of Enterprise. However I know it's infinately unlikley but I would love if they did the borg.
@kirkheads JJ gave the Trek canon a nod of the head regarding Klingons - the original ST:RPG from the 80s gave an explanation for the difference between TOS and NextGen Klingons. Apparently the TOS Klingons were genetic hybrids bred for first contact with humanity by the secretive warlike imperial race Klingons (the ones with the bony foreheads). The masks in Star Trek 11 were a nice touch – shame they deleted the major scenes explaining how Nero and his crew escaped Klingon custody.
Well made fan trailer. I actually think it would be GREAT to see the Enterprise battle the Klingons in the "alternate reality" of Star Trek. It would make for a cool movie.
Oh thank god the trailer was faked! For one terrible instant I thought the writers might actually believe bringing the blandest, lamest villain ever conceived back for a second movie might actually be a good move for their little reboot.
According to the story, Nero is of a Post-Piccard era Romulus, destroyed by some kind of industrial accident led by the Vulcans and involving and implicating Spock.
The nature of the accident, using "red matter blobs" and something to do with Black Holes or Wormholes, time-warps or something vague--- results in Romulus' destruction. First off, I don't think the conservative Vulcans would have done something that stupid. The rest of the premise is just junk too.
Nero is a Romulan. Klingons don't wear masks like that, they have the turtle-shells glued to their foreheads. JJ Abrams just killed the Star Trek line.
@Grrraig obviously you have never watched the original series they never had scar foreheads then and if you watch star trek enterprise it clearly explains why
@mrdevilishdan21 - The 12 movie portrays Nero as a ROMULAN. Romulus was destroyed by a Vulcan error. And he has greenish skin and pointy ears. Much advertising and many trailers refer to him as a Klingon. And yes, I grew UP on original Trek. DS9 hinted that there was some kind of genetic experiment gone wrong that gave Klingons their tortise-shell foreheads. Point is, Nero was Romulan not Klingon.
I don't remember that nero was presented on trailers as a klingon.......but he should have a green tone skin (which he does not) and "something" on his forehead like all the other romulans
@pommeskrieger i have to agree they made a mistake on that jj should of watched star trek enterprise and star trek 6 to get the rough idea of what rura pente looks like
@pommeskrieger P.S. the only real problem on hoth was those damn wampas (carnivorous horned yetis) if rura penthe had those...well...even the klingons would have had their hands full cause those beasts are damn nasty

About klingon masks. As I remember in this time klingons are ill by genetic virus, and look like humans. So masks is a logical stuff.
