I suspect that Gao died within a week of this news broadcast. Likely, he was a victim of force-feeding and inmate beatings. Like so many others who don't get in line with the Chinese government.
A boycott of the 2008 Olympics is precisely what should happen, since campaigns against allowing China to even host the games have failed. A boycott is a form of non-violent protest.
What I'd really like to see is for the 2008 Olympics to be canceled just before the opening ceremony.

A China more just is a beautiful dream, but from the look of things I suspect I'd be long dead by the time that dream becomes a reality.

That's a beautiful dream I'd love to see being made into reality, but going by the way things are in China at present I think I'd be long dead and gone by the time the dream materialises.
