And it's not from 1944 but from 1918 where the country of Yugoslavia was made out of "banovinas" . so Macedonia was "Vardarska banovina", Serbia was "Moravska banovina", Croatia was "Savska banovina" etz. The names were mostly names of major rivers. Later on in 1920 to 1940 Macedonia was called "South Serbia". Macedonia and Montenegro were annexed by Serbia and Bosnia by Croatia. And it's not from 1944 but from 1918 where the country of Yugoslavia was made out of "banovinas" . so Macedonia was "Vardarska banovina", Serbia was "Moravska banovina", Croatia was "Savska banovina" etz. The names were mostly names of major rivers. Later on in 1920 to 1940 Macedonia was called "South Serbia". Macedonia and Montenegro were annexed by Serbia and Bosnia by Croatia.
