All you pathetic, impressionable minded goons who worship at this guy's altar, Oracle is one of the bottom feeders of the industry. Their products are loathed by all except the fucking higher ups who get paid ample to have Oracle rape their companies for decades to come.
Every architect I talk to is weary of convoluted, cumbersome, ineffectual Oracle products that constantly charge them over services and licenses in 10's of millions. The apathy is there, someone needs to take on Oracle soon.
Money does not give u brain but brain does.... Passion is the key thing one must have in life to be a pinnacle of his own world, without which winning is only echo of ur own shouting....... how much was it, Yeah 10 years and 100 million Dollars for building his own way of living style..... That's passion.... He is true, "Everyone else must fail"... Thanks for another inspiration Larry, Keep inspiring....
He gives far more to charity EACH YEAR than this home is worth, plus he's signed the Giving Pledge. Before you criticize him for blowing so much money on a home, you should look at your own history of donations. More than 500 bucks per anno?
Long live Larry Ellison's Corporate Rule over the US Government's DOD.
We applaud Larry for his continued efforts to thwart bad, anti-corporate Government legislation and peruse profit through innovation and effective use of pro-corporate lobbyists in swaying Governments to side with enterprise.
We appreciate Larry Ellison for focusing on the free flow of profiteering through reduced IRS taxation for dominating global software companies.
The reason why Larry is so succesful is because he can think outside the box. He was able to read the database market early and moved in. When the desktop wars began, he moved onto the server side. Now, he's adjusted his gameplan again and is buying out competition (SUN, BEA, etc) because he knows the database market is saturated.
Khan wasn't the one who said that, what an ignorant prick. Although now since he's the latest one to advertise that saying, it's going to go down in history as a khan saying!
I agree with watermind and ceckardt1977. It's not like he spent his money on killing other people, or on anything harmful, he paid $100 million dollars to a group of Japanese laborers, designers, architects, engineers, etc. to make a town that is a masterpiece. Sure, it might be a lot of real estate for one man, but the money went to a bunch of skilled guys, who then will spend it back in Japan.
Yeah, but playing fast and loose with his company means he's also pissing away corporate funds, endangering his employees' livelihood and the nest eggs of many of his stockholders. Did you ever think about that?
It's his money and he should do whatever he wants with it.
Do you also stand at the entrance of video video game stores, cinemas, McDonalds, or Disneyworld, telling people how they should be giving away their money instead?
Concern yourself about your own money. How much the skills you've developed so far are earning you, how you're spending that money, and how you are giving it away.
@watermind Right on Watermind! -- ORACLE itself has been a huge positive force in computing. Ellison's company has pulled the rest of technology forward more than any one person could reasonably hope for as the net result of their life's work. I am one who thinks being an unaffected wealthy person is very unattractive in one, and unsustainable for all rich folks, but Larry Ellison is very charitable actually. He also likes spend his money too. I hate when envy confuses people.
Just because he spends within is rather sizable means it does not meant that he does not also give generously as he does. And investing in a beautiful house like this is clearly an architectural gift that will be eventually given to the world as historically preserved house. Not to mention how cool it is that he was a patron to this older more artful kind of asian construction. I am always amazed at how covetous a creature mankind is. Larry Ellison is simply living the dream. you go larry!
@watermind So, the people who concieved the majority of the software, and hardawre oracles sells played no part? Well, judging by the salary difference, they contributed about 0.1% of the effort, collectively. Ellison contributed the other 99.9%. So, clearly not. In fact, Elisson barely need them.
@theantiantichrist I very much doubt that the distribution of salaries in the whole company is 99.9% for him and 0.1% for all others, but I'll take that as an hyperbole. And salary is not just about how much you contribute, it's about how much your skills are worth. In that sense yes, they barely needed those particular programmers, they are easily replaceable.
Does anyone know where I can get the whole interview?

@ninuxy I would worry about the 'higher-ups' in your scenario, not the software developers.
