Farewell to GNER

If i remember rightly the then Government wouldn't allow GNER to re-bid when its franchise came up for renewal as its parent company was in financial difficulty. The decision to give the franchise to NX was flawed, based upon NX's massively exaggerated passenger figures forecast. The Government then had to re-nationalise the East Coast Mainline. A total mess up.

Miss GNER, but having just travelled on East Coast's new First Class from Edinburgh to York it's not too shabby.... That and the new timetable...4 hours to London on the Flying Scotsman.

ECML has to be most emotional line in the UK...

My first encounter of GNER...waiting at Stonehaven for a train into Aberdeen, a GNER HST arrives heading for London...this massive train screaming out the station defening everybody! (This was before the orange doors and quieter engines so about 8/9 years ago) Miss them.

That was brilliant and emotional. Well done on making this video. I only used GNER once, in November 2004 from York to Peterborough on a 225, but it was still worth it.
