  • OK, but I get my bravo SX whizzing around in a constant circle faster.

  • have u done a backflip yet

  • @kangmana09 yup

  • vid cool i just got my msr. I had a mcx2 and loved it until it broke. It damn sure took a beating. Peace

  • @earthling1984

Thanks, Im actually moving up to a blade 400. That's why I have the dx6i. I was going to get an SR, but my LHS and some forums say that the tail rotor isnt that great. I'm buying all the parts separately and saved $100+!!!

  • @unlivingmark Cool. The SR is a fine flying helicopter, but I agree, the blade 400 is better, which also is why it is more expensive :) good idea on the parts though!

  • @unlivingmark The same forums would tell you how horrible the Blade 400 is also.

  • @mcgmark True. People tend to speak from a singlular perspective and this is why. For example, the guy who's been flying a Trex 600 for over a year is going to say the Blade 400 sucks and it probably does in a direct comparison. The guy who just upgraded from a heli-max Axe CP or Blade CP or any other tail rotor that's driven by a motor is going to say the Blade 400 rocks....

  • @unlivingmark You're correct. The tail rotor tends to wag back and forth very quickly on the SR. It's still flyable, but this is annoying. I found that very gently turning down the gyro gain eliminates most of the tail wag. Only a small amount is needed. That said, the Blade400 is a higher class of heli than the SR. IMHO you made the correct choice.

  • These thing are a blast in a gymnasium, I have a dx6i so I have the servos on 115% and it really goes fast. Get some good practice before speeding it up even more.

    Nice flying.

  • @unlivingmark cool, glad you are enjoying it! Soon you can progress to the Collective Pitch Blade SR!

  • Pretty sweet flying. I just got the same helicopter a couple days ago. I have pretty limited experience but am flying fairly well. As someone else below noted mine seems to rock back and forth...i.e., when I give it forward stick, it goes forward, but when I let off, it rocks backwards fairly significantly. Is this a setup issue, or just the way these behave? I'm trying to learn to compensate for it by going forward, letting off, then bumping it forward again to maintain position. Thanks!

  • @fshhuntr1 Thanks! Depending how fast the helicopter is moving, mine can sometimes have the 'problem' too. But I think that is just because this helicopter is kind of made to self stabilize so it is easier for beginners. When moving slowly forward and letting off the stick, it may tilt back to correct a bit; however, if you are flying fast, it won't do this.

  • @fshhuntr1 this is normal for the MSR

  • How Did you get the msr to fly fast forward? Mine doesnt go as fast as yours unless I am banking a turn. Do i need to adjust somthing? The duel rate and expo are set to 100%

  • @bakonlicious I have the helicopter links on the 'advanced swashplate settings' and I have 100% dual rate and no expo. Nothing else is modified.

  • @earthling1984 Hello Im a total spaze with these, what are the dual rate and the expo.?

  • @john01513 Dual rate just setups up two or more settings for how far the control sufaces move. Expo slows/calms down the controls near the center of the sticks. I don't use DR or Expo myself, but I would suggest a Low rate of 60% with about 25% expo(on elevator, rudder, ailerons), and a high rate of 100% with 35% expo (again on elevator, rudder, and ailerons.)

  • what radio where you using?

  • @rcplanes1234 in this video, I was using the 'stock' / RTF radio that comes in the heli package. I now use a DX6i with most my micro helicopters and planes.

  • Worst part about this helicopter is when stuff does break the parts cost WAY to much for what they are. Yes $5 is cheap for most people but $5 for the little landing skids. The frame is 7.99 and if you look at the frame for the SR which is TWICE the size, the frame for it is the same price.

  • good flying skills there, nice video! ;-D

  • I have mastered a coaxial mcx2 and a esky big lama. I just got this 2 days ago and it seems impossible to control. You are controlling that pretty well. Mine has a tendency to want to rock back and forth...like when i give it forward throttle it goes forward but when i let go it swings back. I've crashed it like 20 times in just one day already.

  • @azezrtyuuiopqsdfghjk not at all, i rock :)

  • Dude did your heli spin in circles on its own at first cause I'm having that problem? Any way nice flying.

  • @GGames2009 nope, didn't spin really, it will spin a bit if you hit full throttle, until the motors even out(like half a second)

  • @earthling1984 Oh hmm there must be something wrong with mine...

  • great vid

iv got mine in the post

    does it take much practice

  • @ringbak cool you will love it. Everyone learns at their own speed, just practice and you will get a hang of it :)

  • How long you had your heli? Nice stuff.

  • @CrazyHeliDude at this point, I had just gotten it a couple days before this video. I started flying RC just around 9 months ago.

  • this video looks identical to how i spent most of my afternoon.... just hauling ass frm wall to wall trying to avoid a rotor strike :) not always successful. Question though, how much right stick are you using in the turns?

  • this video looks identical to how i spent most of my afternoon.... just hauling ass frm wall to wall trying to avoid a rotor strike :) not always successful. Question though, how much right stick are you using in the turns?

  • at the start you said tx mode ? do u mean the swashplate mod was normal ?

  • @wow287333 I forget if I was on the 'advanced swashplate' or not during this video, but that isn't what I was talking about. The transmitter(the RTF one that comes with it) you can push down on the throttle stick, it will 'click' in. This will cause the TX to go into 'trainer' mode, which is like DR/EXPO and it slows down the movements of the helicopter(the RTF TX light will BLINK while in trainer mode)... basically it just slows down the controls.

  • does it fly up side down?

  • Great vid Earthling. Enjoyed watching

  • Thanks :)

  • no im back from jamaica now...it just broke when i was there lol sorry

  • google - horizon hobby

  • Can you buy screws for the msr? Or does it use special ones? It broke it Jamaica... lol...and the blade fell off somehow and i lost the screw.

  • yes you can buy screws for sure. I don't know if all places ship to Jamaica though... Perhaps ebay will work? I'll try to find out what online hobby shops will ship to Jamaica too.

  • yeah ordered a couple more lipos effectively doubling flight time! had my first major break today! the end cap on the tail rotor came off!! was not impressed as i had already 'secured' it with insulating tape...

popped it back on seems be work OK (save me a good £12)

Have you tried any mods on the tail??

  • just covering the wires with wrap/tape to help protect the tail motor wires.

  • That is some mad flying on the 'advanced' tx set up- I've gotten pretty good on the beginner settings, i can turn really quickly with lots of roll so flying around the room is no probs!

much more jittery on the advanced set up as it requires super fast reactions/corrections to stop it shooting into the wall lol!

can't wait to unleash it outside still haven't had the ideal weather :(

  • thanks! I've got better since this video; this vid is from when I just got the msr. It is a great little heli.

You'll learn quick, just get in lots of flight time! Circles and figure 8s really help you get some muscle memory for turns.

A large indoor area is ideal, but calm days outside are a blast.

  • I used the calibration tool and it helped a lot. It still wobbles slightly but nothing that's really annoying! I was wondering if I would be able to carry it on the plane to bring it to jamaica. Do you think it will be a problem???

  • Great! That tool really does help even though it seems like it wouldn't.

I think you will be just fine bringing on plane!

  • my msr is wobbling, do you know how to fix it? Would my local hobby shop give me a new one since I only had it for about 3 weeks or could they fix it you think? And my batteries are running out quicker, any ideas? My crashes are only blade scrapers usually and I don't have any idea how to fix it

  • Try the swashplate tool. Hobby shop might help you trim it but they def won't replace.

Lipos should NOT be drained to no power... this destroys them. Theyh should be flown about a minute less than theycan last

  • ah ok that makes sense I've been flying until the LED blinks!

Ah another question- how many packs do you fly consecutively?? I fly the two provided back to back i suppose any more and you'd have to let the motors cool.

  • You should probably give the motor a minute to cool. I actually would just keep flying ;p Cus replacing a motor isn't too hard and flying when I want is what is important ;p

As for the lipos, NEVER fly them until it blinks again! I hope they are still good, but yea that is how they get damaged. I had a brand new lipo with one of my first lipo planes, I flew like 3 flights then it only lasted like 30 seconds on a ful charge... quickly figured out why and how lipos work.

  • Great flying!! just got mine today- i appreciate your skills sooo much more after giving it a go myself!

Its surprisingly stable i can get it to drift where i want it to- still haven't got the hang of turning lol, all in good time though!

I have a question: are supposed to let the lipos charge until the LED goes off or until the blinks are about 20seconds apart? Because after over an hour of charging they still blink...

  • Hey, glad you got one! You WILL learn, don't worry. It takes time and practice, like anything else. Just don't try to learn/fly too fast, as that is when you end up damamging your helicopter. I'm sure in a few days you'll be flying circles though!

The lipos are taking an hour, wow, odd. Mine usually shut completely off within 40minutes... at the most. As long as you have charged it over 30 to 40mins, if it is still blinking(20 seconds or more apart) then you are find to fly.

  • fine to fly*

Make sure, with lipos, if you haven't flown other RC crafts, DO NOT fly them until your helicopter is not able to fly anymore. Lipos should NOT be drained to low. If they are drained to low, they will not charge right, and won't work anymore. Time one of your flights, and when your heli starts to show a lack of power, stop flying. See what your time was, and say you flew 5mins, from now on, only fly 4.5 minutes, and your battieres will last much longer.

  • Nice video and great flying.. I was going to purchase the MSR. It was between that and the walkera cb100. The MSR is nice and has some positive factors for it but there isn't any upgrade-ability and it's a little to squirrely for me indoors. I chose the cb100 just cause it seems more hobby grade and more stable. You should check one out if you get a chance. I'm sure you'd like it.

  • Thanks for your input. Walkera does have the gimmick of the upgrades, and they sell their helis with different parts so users have to spend more to get the 'best' one, with metal parts and what not. I've looked at walkera's before, but always stuck with Eflite for their great products(don't know what you talkin about sayin it is 'squirly'), amazing customer service, cheap repair parts, and high quality/hobby grade aircrafts.

  • im jealous. those crashes would have cost about £30 a time on a honeybee king

  • Surely is a durable heli

  • every time I go forward, the heli always wants to go backwards a bit and to the right. Is this normal? Is not then do you know what I'm doing wrong? Sorry for all the questions but I'm still getting used to heli's!!!

  • ok, I get it now, thanks, I just got this heli two days ago, but I can already land on little tables and stuff but I'm having trouble with the turning when I'm going forward!

  • I know but what stick are you using to get the heli to steer like that?

  • when I turn kind of quick like tiled in? Well, in that case I use both sticks, and if I am making a left turn, both sticks go left, right turn, both sticks go right. Hard to explain exactly what I do, you will have to just play around and see how it works.

  • What stick are you using to get the heli to steer like like, the one that spins the heli, or the one that makes the heli go side to side?

  • left stick spins, right stick makes the helicopter move in the direction you push the stick.

  • You give the MSR a bad name...learn how to fly.

  • The flight wasn't bad, and I have other flight videos as well, most of which I think are flown well. I watched your flight video, and let me just say, you are not one to talk, your flight video leaves much to be desired. I don't know why you would come to my video and post an ignorant comment like this, especially when I don't even know who you are. We are into the same hobby, you could have befriended me instead of being a jerk... Anyways, I blocked you :( Sorry, but you caused it.

  • on mine i can hold full forward stick and it doesnt really move if it even moves it all. i have to give either left or right while pushing forward for it to start moving. do you know what could be wrong

  • is that a reptile or amphibian terrarium in the backround

  • The only r/c helis I've had are the Mosquito, and a POS Air Hogs. The Air Hogs was worthless, but the Mosquito I had a lot of fun with becuase it was so stable and easy to fly. But I want to step up to something more agile, and I think this MSR might be the one to get, yet you crashed it several times, so that worries me. I know things take practice, but is this heli always tough to control, or can you stop and go and turn around on a dime as I thought was supposed to be the case.

  • This helicopter controls amazingly - by an EXPERIENCED pilot. As a beginner, who hasn't really flown RC before, you would need much practice. It can 'turn on a dime' if the pilot is experienced enough to provide the control input.

I had only had the helicopter a few days when making this video. Crashes do happen but this heli is pretty durable.

you may want to start with the mCX then progress to the mSR.

  • Thanks for the reply. Well, the mCX is the other one I'm considering, but what bugs me about it is that it only comes with the charger that uses AA batteries - no wall charger. I think that is really lame because even the cheap knock-offs I've had ALL had a wall charger. I just got a $30 coaxial from Academy Sports that has a radio transmitter (not I/R) AND a wall charger and it flies quite well. If these cheapos can provide this, why not E-Flite? At least the mSR has that nice charger.

  • No wall charger is an annoyance, but isn't a huge deal. The $30 helicopter I'm sure flies nowhere near as good as the mCX. Is it even 4ch? I think you should perhaps start with the CX3. You might like to fly the larger sized heli(still small enough for indoors), and it will give you good practice before going to a single rotor heli.

  • I like that the CX3 comes with the wall charger, but it's $100 more than the mCX S300! Of course the mCXS300 and a separate wall charger bought separately would bring the price to about $150, but I also like the idea of a 1 ounce smaller heli better than an 8 ounce larger heli. Decisions!! What to do!

  • Cool vid earthling1984, shows how the MSR can be controlled and its durability. You are fighting a losing battle in advising some people though.

  • Thanks. Not sure what you mean about the advising 'fight' but ok...

  • Only that some people don't understand what you are telling them.

  • Oh. Well I try to explain things as best I can for all to understand. If anyone has an questions, they are welcome to PM me :) I get many PM's daily which I answer :)

  • what are you talking about faster rate. how you do that

  • your controller can run in 2 speeds/rates. You press in on the left.. or is it right, stick. Try both, it is one of the two(it will click in) then the light on the front will flash... or stay solid... depending what mode you are in. One is trainer mode for slower movements, other is full control for fast movements.

  • ? What do you mean?

  • You are gay mr nebulaburst. anyone who doesn't like the msr is an obvious queer. earthling, he means that he is coming out as a gay man and only can fly park flier fixed wing rtf. thats what he means.

  • how long does it take to charge it fully?

  • I find the batteries take between about 15 and 30 minutes to charge. It depends how far you drain them. I fly my msr usually for only 4.5mins.

  • ok thx alot

  • Keep It Up!!!

Well done, and dont cut out the crashes in the video's check my videos out, I leave them in there, it shows how tough this little heli is, except I think I have had some really high speed crashes in comparison to yours ;)

I had to modify the swashplate to get more angle with the heli.

  • I crash in my vids too ;p not on purpose, just because it can happen, especially in such a small room. The heli is durable though and can take a beating. if it does break, it is easy to fix.

  • And cheap to fix too, most parts are less than a cup of coffee

  • yeah, the part prices are reasonable for sure. One part that I seem to have broken a lot is the tail motor. The wires become broken if you crash wrong. Some people have found wrapping the motor, or using some glue to hold these wires more secure will help this not happen.

  • Great review and flying keep it up Eric.

  • im considering an MSR but I like the new micro 4site 3D plane they've introduced.

  • I know there are other micro heli's out there. Which one are you referring to? You know the name of it?

  • Earthling your videos are very entertaining and educational. You could always clip out your crashes like most do.

  • I actually had the exact same noise coming from mine after a crash. I fould out that it was my tail prop. Replaced it and the noise is gone.

  • really, just the prop. I replaced my tail completely because in a later crash the tail motor wires came un-soldered, but so small wires I couldn't fix. After putting no new tail, noise was gone it seemed, I didn't realize it was just the rotor though. That would make sense, it is tiny plastic that probably got bent in a little crash and was causing vibration. Thanks for that input!

  • When I bought my MSR the guy at the hobby shop gave me a small piece of heat shrink to put on the end of the tail rotor motor to protect the wires. Works like a charm.

  • That was pretty darn good flying for such a small room and only a couple days after I got the heli... No need to be an ass when commenting on vids ;p

  • Pretty good flying for a FP in a small room with lots of stuf to run into.

Please don't listen to the haters on

U-Tube, their lives suck so they cut peeps up to make themselfs feel better

  • He's doing fine. You've obviously never flown a FP before.

  • yours is relly loud its not supposed to be that loud

  • how much time does it take to recharge the batteries?

  • 20 to 35 minutes.

  • It has two adjustments.

Are you flying with the advance swashplate adjustment or the stock one? I like putting mine on advance outside, otherwise it has to battle the wind.

  • I have it setup fully stock.

  • Earthling, don't you find that you have to retrim sometimes? When I put in new batteries, I have to retrim sometimes even when duing the prior flight, I did not have to trim at all. By the way, It took me a 4-6 hours to learn from an mCX but is well worth it. I love this heli : )

  • The only time I have to re-trim is after I use my transmitter with another aircraft. I trim for that aircraft, then when I come back to the helicopter, it needs to be trimmed again for the helicopter. It is a little bit of a pain, but not really that bad. A DX6i transmitter saves your settings so trim settings are remembered.

  • These things are going to revolutionize the rc helicopter world. People will be able to learn to fly a single rotor heli with full cyclic in their living room. Can't wait to play with one of these.

  • Yeah, I heard the normal MCX-like rotor sound, plus that little bumble-bee kind of noise, too...Then realized oh yeah, tail rotor. My mSR is pre-ordered and supposedly shipping this week. I won't be able to sleep nights until the brown truck gets here. Thanks for the preview.

  • I had one on pre-order too, however, my local hobby shop had them first. They got them in Thursday and still have a couple in the shop today! Check your local hobby shops, you might be able to call and reserve one and pick it up before your pre-order ships. Most pre-orders are charged until they ship, so just cancel it if you find one that you can drive and pickup!

  • aren't*

  • how much was it!

  • $150 for BNF - $180 for RTF

  • wats in that tank in your living room????

    more animal vids PLEEEEASE

  • More animal vids will come soon don't worry!!! I am going to an animal expo in about a week and I may pickup some new reptiles!

  • Great Flying!!! Can't wait to get mine.....

How much louder is it to the Blade MCX? ? Cause it sound really loud??

  • it is a little louder. I'd assume because instead of having 2 rotors, it only has 1... which means that single rotor has to spin faster than 2 rotors would to keep the heli in the air. Faster rotor = more sound... but it still isn't very loud. It is much quieter than a CX2/CX3

  • sounds like your gear is rubbing on somthing

  • yes, I agree. After a couple small crashes that sound started. But it still flies perfect. I have inspected it but am having trouble finding the source of the noise.

  • I found the source of the noise. It is actually my tail motor... odd. It makes noise when I hold the helicopter and twist it(when turned on). When I hold it straight up and turn full throttle, no noise, but then when I twist the nose left or right, that noise comes from the tail. flies perfect though... I'll pickup a new tail motor when available.

  • That noise is the tail rotor motor and it must be common as I have seen two fly today and both make that noise. I'm better the etrm will have to be replaced more often on this micro heli than on the CP Pro helis.
