@lewi5676 because the 3.5 fans of good ol' Max like orselves are not the target auditory, not anymore. And 13-year old players haven't ever played Max Payne, not even tFoMP, and the auths will make games THEY would like and purchase, not us.
Say, why Fallout 3 is so different from parts 1 and 2? Why DooM3 was a damn sci-fi shooter? Why Deus Ex 2 sucked so hard, compared to DX1? (Thx God they made the third part well). That's why - we've been replaced. We bring them no more money to stay with us.
