Wow! I had my sights on getting a 370z in a short while, but f*$( that I want one of these. that bad boy looks niccccccceeee. anyone know how much its going to cost? I hope its affordable.
@GopiSingh - the last NSX put out about 300hp. Since the last gen NSX focused on the growing fame of VTEC motor. When the 2015 Acura NSX debuts , i would say it will have HP ranging around 500hp. due to honda implementing direct injection technology along the the two electric motors controlling the front two wheels. Honda/Acura does an amazing job in making cars Feel more powerful with a smaller engine by focusing on power-to-weight ratio.
See Honda is that quiet unassuming brilliant fellow who shows up at your workplace and for a while you don't see anything until you realize the guy taking over the whole department.
Like many car designers, they probably don't have faith that their customers will buy such a powerful design, and they want to save money, and they will water it down until it looks like just another car.
@W1NDOWS7myIDEA Thank you! I would literally try to kill anyone who says that this car looks like an R8. My god the things I have heard! @LeonStark Oh thanks..lol.Yea I remember now it was a BMW car. But dont this car & that car look the same especially from the side view??? Which one looks better & faster?
@justthebestgolfer whats with the attitude? anyway yeah i get what your saying but i don't think they are ever going to produce that Concept BMW, judging by the tech involving in the NSX this might be faster its was supposed to compete with the GTR
Just trying to get my name out there. I post videos everyday containing news about cars. I post everything from Ford's new fusion to the first crash of a production LFA. Check it out if you're interested.
If this makes it to production looking like this. I might have to kill someone for it.
@AshtonCoolman Agreed, a road HSV010 would be HOT. But there's 1 issue I can think of.. back in 07 or so legislation has been passed to improve the safety of idiots who stand in the middle of traffic. So because the HSV has such a low hood and it's FR, Honda will probably have to go back and redesign the front end raising the hood significantly to something like the 599. Why else do you think so many cars now a days are so fat and bloated :/
This is a nice car and would be exceptionally nice if it can get +60 mpg while maintaining sports car performance. I just hope they won't ask $400,000 like that LFA, that was a bad move. If they didn't have to use so much expensive space grade woven carbon fiber, it would have super-slashed the production cost by 5x and many people would have bought it because it looked cool and sounded even cooler. Be reasonable, ppl rather spend big bucks for Ferrari, not Honda..
the only way this car makes it to market is with electric motors, the GT-R has kept it out of the market for 6 years. even with hybrid tech the pricing will have to be perfect, too low; not profitable, too high; ZR-1 kicks it in the ass, any higher; and the question is NSX? or R8? or DB9? I just don't see a price point for this thing... unless it get's crazy MPG and a 0-60 of less then 4.1, i.e CTS-v coupe!
Acura is BACK! Now let's see the RL (supposed to use similar powertrain as the new NSX).
Am I the only one who is still hoping for the return of the HSV-010. It's a 650hp V10 supercar that was supposed to be produced, but now used for racing only (detuned to 500hp due to racing regulations).
If NSX is a 400+hp hybrid mid-engine AWD, the HSV-010 would be a good complement (650hp non-hybrid front-engine AWD). Having TWO halo cars would definitely separate Acura from Infinti and Lexus.
@maskedgunman I'm praying the next RL will look as good as this. Btw, the V10 was to make 500-550HP tops, and the engine they use to race with is a 3.4 V8 Formula Nippon engine. The V10 was canned and will never come back cuz Acura is chasing upcoming efficiency standards. I agree tho a high-end FR would be sweet, something to compete with the M6, Vette, GT500, and maybe if they slapped on some forced induction ^^
@musicmanvin1 I know that the V10 was canned; I was just dreaming... lol.
And you're right, the GT series was raced using a V8--thanks for correcting me. The civilian V10 was last quoted as 550 hp; 500 hp was early speculation.
And regarding the RL--according to the journalists who were given a sneak peek, they said the design was in line with the newer models (ILX) and appeared to be more muscular than the earlier generations. It will be revealed at the New York Auto Show.
@maskedgunman oooo interesting, I had no idea journalist where given a sneak peek to the new RL to. I know some were able to see the new NSX before unveil and that really generated some buzz. The ILX, NSX, and even the new accord looks really good, so my hopes are really high we might finally get a good looking RL lol
I like the car, and love the engines. It having electric motors is a good thing. Electric motors have instant Torque, that means it could possibly be faster. Electric motors could be awesome, if you do it right. The only problem for me is the noise.... that could be an issue.
people, putting an electric motor along with a powerful engine is a great idea. honda is trying to be eco friendly and i support them. look ip the porsche 918, exact same idea.
ppl were complaining 2 years ago that they used a front-engined V10 cuz it wasnt a "true NSX" with a mid-engined V6. Now, they put a more powerful mid-engined V6 and sure they added electric motors. SO WHAT!? they already mounted a mid engined V6, what more do you want them to do?
Adding electric motors can provide a lot of advantages for performance. It's not all about fuel economy. Just look at the Porsche 918 and GT3 R Hybrid. Showcasing new technology is a big part of what these cars are about.
550bhp, simple interior with great build quality and good sound = WIN
400bhp, tacky nerdy interior with loose fitting plastics, sounds like a vacuum cleaner = FAIL
By the time this comes a reality, if it ever does, Honda are becoming Lotus with all this talking and no action, a lot of supercars will be lightweight. 400bhp in an all aluminium chassis isnt fast anymore. If they can get the 0-60 to 3 seconds its a winner, it has to be fast and sound good thou, Mclaren learnt that the hard way!
Introducing the 2025 Acura NSX, High Features, High Price, HYBRID!!!
On a serious note, I think enthusiast deserved better horsepower/torque, new styling, and a competitive price. Well they'll get most of the mentioned, but it better performance!
can some one tell me how these electric motors work please? He said 6 cylinders but I don't get how electricity would be able to power any type of cylinder motors.
@cacarca so the nsx has 4 motors? because he did say one electric motor is for the rear and the two others are individually to the front two wheels, and the gasoline motor...
is the gasoline motor powering all four wheel or just the back? where does the gasoline motor fit in this car >.<
@mokos23 I have no idea how many times I've heard this. You do know its suppose to be competing with the GTR right? As is it probably has the same specs even with a V6 and 3 electric motors?
@flurry it's a V6 with V8 performance not a V8 and they said they have a few years to work on it and it also has a battery engine so I think it'll work out
"Big V8 performance for 4-cylinder economy." What a load bull.
Honda won't put a V10 (or even a V8), 'cause they would have a hard time explaining why such a big engine still doesn't makes any torque at all, or why VTECs "magic" won't produce anywhere near 625hp from such engine, based on their "125 hp per liter" claims x 5 liters (the average size of a modern V8).
@flurry Yeah, a lot of they're I4 engines do create very little torque, however not all are that way. And if you havn't noticed, they're V6s have tons of torque. And VTEC's purpose is to allow the engine to continue to have a great amount of power in high rpms, hints why all of they're engines rev so high.
My comment is validateed: Either you make a zillion HPs from minuscule displacement (1.6, R/C), which equates to very little ACTUAL power, or resort to more displacement that negates impressive HP numbers.
Case in point: Honda VTECs develops 200hp from a 2.0 4-cylinder, with LESS torque than Toyota's 1.8, for a 125hp per liter.
Honda NSX's V6 made 290hp from 3.2 liters, which equalst to 90hp per liter, and still with LESS torque than any typical V6.
Remember that HP is an ARBITRARY function of Torque x RPM. An engine that makes the exact same torque but needs way more RPMs in order to achieve that get a fancier HP value (Honda). Honda has proved that either you get "normal" HP with big displacement (like everybody) or shrieking peak HP only on the small displacement engines. They are yet to produce a magic engine that does both things.
All their VTEC V6 have a serious lack of torque and it hasn't changed as of 2012.
Don't underestimate electric motors. They generate more torque than a gas engine could ever hope to produce and if need be can produce RPMs up to 5 times higher that of a gas engine. The batteries are their downfall with weight, but they can be a blessing in disguise when you mount the batteries lower to the ground where you couldn't think of mounting an engine. This provides are ridiculously low center of gravity.
A electric motor weighs a lot less then a internal combustion engine. The one on the Tesla is about the size of a watermelon. Its the battery technology that is hurting electric cars.
Omg really? An Audi R8 copy cat? Acura is a bullshit over priced manufacturer of slightly different but way to similar look a like cars. End of story ps id rather have the old nsx than this space shit
I find it funny how many people are hating the motor. Has no one heard of the Tesla or seen what that crazy ass car can do around a track? Electric cars have instant torque and crazy launch times, not to mention instant response.
@sw204me The motor is heavy, the batteries are heavy, the battery life isn't long, it takes forever to refuel, it gets slower when it's almost out of juice, it costs 3x as much as an Elise. There's a lot of things wrong with the Tesla. Range and refuel don't apply to hybrids but weight and cost sure do.
You know what's better than this? The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. You know what's better than that? The $85K Nissan GT-R. Seriously Honda, replace the S2000 first, then we'll talk about fancy torque-vectoring electric motors.
@LGSAUSAGE this is more relevant than you think, when the number of super-cars that actually are driven on the roads are significantly less than normal cars fuel consumption and exhaust emissions should not be a factor, but eco is now a status simbol instead of actually meaning something, that is why cars like this exist...
@LGSAUSAGE ... Electric motors are torque monsters. Look at the all-electric Tesla Roadster: 300 lb-ft of instant torque from a little electric motor.
@pacman385 im a redneck. i love v8s and the smell of barbeque. but as a mechanical engineer i can tell you that electric motors jack the cost way up, add weight, and have to be taken off for racing purposes. my problem with this car is that its ugly just like every other acura.
Well this out, all eyes is back on Honda to show and prove it's still has a contender. This car NEEDS to be as nimble as the Lexus LFA but priced around the Nissan GTR in order for this to be a sure win.
id rather 3 turbo's than hybrid engines. I dont want fuel economy. I want great noise and maximum HP/ performance. Keep trying guys. Its not bad looking...but its no NSX
IF YOU HAVE A SON OR DAUGHTER......YOU BETTER MAKE SURE THEY....STUDDDYYYY HARD....BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO NEED IT TO BUILT THE NEXT GENERATION OF CARS...OR EVEN KEEP THEM RUNNING
glad that this is a concept the ideas of electric engines let's face it there here to stay like it or not the exterior design in my opinion needs some change's mostly at the front, but I do like it
This car is a piece of crap comparing to the legendary Audi R8 V10

Honda won't put a V10 (or even a V8), 'cause they would have a hard time explaining why such a big engine still doesn't makes any torque at all, or why VTECs "magic" won't produce anywhere near 625hp from such engine, based on their "125 hp per liter" claims x 5 liters (the average size of a modern V8).
VTEC - Virtually Torqueless Economy Car
flurry 1 month ago
@flurry Yeah, a lot of they're I4 engines do create very little torque, however not all are that way. And if you havn't noticed, they're V6s have tons of torque. And VTEC's purpose is to allow the engine to continue to have a great amount of power in high rpms, hints why all of they're engines rev so high.

@bpl0807

@bpl0807

The car looks gorgeous. The big question now is pricing.

They act like this will be driven with efficiency. It won't. That V6 better be 350+ hp

When cornering this car uses one wheel to recharge and one to pull away. Its a concept, you know just to show off technology.
I think its still pretty cool

Electric cars have instant torque and crazy launch times, not to mention instant response.
sw204me 1 month ago
@sw204me The motor is heavy, the batteries are heavy, the battery life isn't long, it takes forever to refuel, it gets slower when it's almost out of juice, it costs 3x as much as an Elise. There's a lot of things wrong with the Tesla. Range and refuel don't apply to hybrids but weight and cost sure do.

You know what's better than this? The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. You know what's better than that? The $85K Nissan GT-R. Seriously Honda, replace the S2000 first, then we'll talk about fancy torque-vectoring electric motors.
ericplloyd 1 month ago
Sorry, but I don't think this will be faster than a GT-R.

I hate it when manufacturers add electric motors to sports cars. It's a sports car not a Prius.
LGSAUSAGE 1 month ago 34
@LGSAUSAGE this is more relevant than you think, when the number of super-cars that actually are driven on the roads are significantly less than normal cars fuel consumption and exhaust emissions should not be a factor, but eco is now a status simbol instead of actually meaning something, that is why cars like this exist...

@LGSAUSAGE Have you seen the Porsche GT3 Hybrid? That's awesome.

@LGSAUSAGE ... Electric motors are torque monsters. Look at the all-electric Tesla Roadster: 300 lb-ft of instant torque from a little electric motor.
emantabrizi 1 month ago 10
@LGSAUSAGE You're obviously a redneck. You have no idea how much electric motors help in sports cars do you?
Porsche 918 has it too, guess you don't want that car anymore.

@pacman385 im a redneck. i love v8s and the smell of barbeque. but as a mechanical engineer i can tell you that electric motors jack the cost way up, add weight, and have to be taken off for racing purposes. my problem with this car is that its ugly just like every other acura.

@LGSAUSAGE so what... if you have to drive around the city it's definitly a plus.
