Watching this video pisses me off that both SONY and MS refused to allow Sirlin to implement a tournament mode for ST:HDR that would disable the pause menu which would mean NO mid-game climax killing pauses. Thankfully Markman convinced MadCatz to put the start button on the back of the TE sticks which should eliminate the problem for many in the community that I'm sure will be using the TE sticks. Match pauses suck...I never understood why the start button was so close to the punch row.

Because most of them are by default 720p or 1080p these days, which produces horrifying lag. Fighting games, which mostly require frame-precise timing, become unplayable on plasmas. It happened at Evo East 2006, so beelive me, we have experience in this department.

If the system is older (Dreamcast, Saturn), it's better to play on standard, older TVs.  LCDs and plasmas can still cause problems. But if it is a newer console (XBox 360, Wii, PS3), it's okay to play on any TV. On PS2, if the game supports 480p, you can play on some newer TVs. But if the game does not support 480p, most LCDs and plasmas will be bad.

Those Shun Goku Satsu setups are tetering him on the edge of banned over at SRK. They're debating right now if he's going to be banned for all his SGS traps.

Personally, I don't see him as broken but extremely high priority. Could go both ways from where I stand (for all his priority, he's got vitality problems and his tweaks did actually significantly change him).

I don't remember all the details there are a number of things, mostly related to priority and the fact the Zankuu Hadoken still sets him way apart from the rest of the cast (despite it's been modified to be more like his Zankuu Hadokens in his other appearances with a sharp downward angle).

Air fireballs can crossup, and lead to mixups that if akuma guesses right, you lose 60% of your life minimum, including guaranteed super.

There are characters that pretty much auto-lose to the air fireball mixup (zangeif comes to mind).

He STILL has vunerable hitboxes missing from random moves (red fireball, apparently).

And that sharp downward angle that's supposedly a 'nerf'? That's what makes his air fireball crossup POSSIBLE.

Sirlin messed up big, and he knows it.

Forget the crossup, the original air fireball made jumping virtually impossible. Just approaching the original Akuma took a sizable amount of talent. Akuma could stay on one side of the screen and still control the fight.

At least the HD Akuma can be approached (if not for the vicious priority gap between him and the rest of the cast).

According to SRK, the akuma matchups appear to be roughly 7-3 against most of the cast, where before it was 9-1.

So yeah, less broken. But STILL broken. So bad.

The nerfed air fireball STILL has no answer from a huge chuck of the cast.

Also, a patch is pretty much out of the question since not only is sirlin not working for backbone anymore, but backbone never wanted to rebalance SF2 in the first place. If it wasn't for sirlin, the HD remix would just be a lame port with a fresh coat of paint.

They used arcade machines for evo north (minus cvs2 and a few others) and since i havn't played at an arcade for about 7 years, i was completly rubbish with the arcade stick. I was good enough to compete in 3s and ST, but I couldn't handle a stick if my life depended on it. One of the reasons that evo should be console only. I'm not the only one. A lot of good players had their game a bit off cause most players are used to HRAPs, and american sticks are much different.
