This is actually the first "Judge Dredd" movie. The creators were sued by the 2000 AD people and everything. It was based on one of their stories, and they didn't receive credit for it.
I watched this for the first time the other day (2011)
I think this movie influenced a few people over the years. The whole desert/post apocalyptic with laid back western sounding music was very reminiscent of the Trigun anime series.
And the radio commentary was very reminiscent Fallout 3, also wasteland based and post apocalyptic themed.
omfg i know that song playing the background.....but i forget what its called. anyone else knows??? I know i'll feel like an ass once i know the title
this scared the shit outa my brother when we were kids he thought when his bedroom was messing all his stuff was going to piece its self together and get him lol
I'm big into movies trailers and I've had my faves for several years now but...I really think that this has topped them all. I love this trailer from start to finish, and the music's amazing. I'm already obsessed with this trailer and movie, and I haven't even seen it yet! Really! My brothers bought the movie after I heard of it about a year ago and have desperately wanted to watch it. So we have the movie but I haven't watched it yet, though I want to see it so bad.
Finally coming to blu Ray, I saw this at the theatre & bought the soundtrack specifically for P.I.L.'s song The Order of Death. 20 years ago & the song still rocks
Great low budget film,i used to own the VHS.Just ordered the dvd and Dust Devil too.For all the people asking for the soundtrack...have at look at megaupload,it's there. This is what you want, this is what you get
This movie ranks right up there with 'A boy and his dog' and 'The road warrior' as one of the best post apocyleps films ever. Plus it has Lemmy and Iggy pop.
liked this film when it came out and to think parts of it were filmed around manchester. Only footnote I would like to add is that the story was 'lifted' from a 2000AD future shock story - about a killer robot in a woman's apartment. That said, the film is worth checking out.
This movie had a GREAT soundtrack. Although I never understood the scene that the band GWAR was playing on the tv in the background but MINISTRY is the song in the scene. oh well good stuff!
I remember when the first time I saw this movie on vhs video in early 1991(about half ayear later from theatre release).I thought at first it was a sequel to,"The Terminator"('84),movie.Afew months later during that summer, "Terminator 2:Judgement Day" was release in theatres(Back then,to see movie trailers coming soon, people had to go to the movies or rent on vhs).
Wait for the sequel...........SOFTWARE.....and then...........REAL, REAL, SOFTWARE and then the ultimate..........SOGGYWARE. It will never stop until all mankind is SOGGY!!!!!!! WHOOO WHEEE!!!
As for this.you know how some films are BAD in a GOOD kind of way and some are GOOD in a BAD kind of way, this was CRAP in a CRAP kind of way. Honestly this film seriously sucked and blew huge quantities of arse. I glad I didn't see the trailer before watching this at the cinema, the disappointment would have been unbearable. Avoid this film as you'd avoid a napalm enema.
I always remembered loving that tune at the end of this film. I totally forgot how it went until now. Not to mention it was a badass film for its day. Thank god for youtube. This is what you want...this is what you get.
The film is based on a short story set in the Judge Dredd comic strip universe (though he doesn't appear in the story) called SHOK!, originally published in a 2000AD annual in the late 70's.
My wish too. In terms of great SciFi/music/movies. Hated the school years back then though. If only for "those" movies I'd sit on that chair again, damn.
One of the best Sci-Fi films ever made, it depicts a haunting, bleak future through the everyday life of the characters who by the way are truly three dimensional. Add to this a brilliant soundtrack and you've got yourself a cult classic.
Pure 90's grunge/punk sci-fi, having bands like Ministry and iggi pop on really give it that post apocalyptic feel, i haven't seen this movie in about 10 years and it takes me back to a time when sci-fi was cool..
Word! Yesss... back then they were really cool. A bit cheap but so moody. Miss those days but I started to search for most of those movies. Most that come to mind that is.
I had this movie on VHS when I was a teenager in 1996. Love it.
