  • This is a very good conversion for the C64, good graphics, nice smooth animation and decent sound fx.

  • Sweet memories ...

  • IK+ on amiga was best

  • I mean "this", not "that".

  • Thanks. My heart is with Exploding Fist (which I got with my C64) -- but that was later and more playable. Controls were modified from EF -- the knell-down punch was a major move.

I tried Tekken and all that but they weren't as fun as IK+.

  • I Loved this game. Especially the punch in the back of the head.

  • I remember playing IK+ with friends for hours and hours !! :)

  • which was the "dropping-pants-key"?

    was it k or t?

im too old to remember... :D

  • brought a tear to my eye, I remember this game so well haha

  • This must be one of the first true multiplayer games in production. I bought this when it came out, I actually still have the tape. 3 players was just mental! at the time we were struggling with 2 players, and the graphics (at the time) were just pant wetting!

  • i always wondered what material those ball were made of. They bounce around like rubber and knock a man down like a bowling ball.

  • first time i play this i remember i was impressed by animations and so many moves i was able to do...

  • nice game, that was my favorite game on C64 :)

  • I don't remember C64 having such colourfull palette... are you sure those are correctly emulated ?

  • @macdeath69 Yeah, the colours are wrong. I didn't notice it until someone pointed it out in the Grand Prix Circuit video. It was emulated correctly, but screwed up after capturing and converting the video.

  • @samwyse2006 Ironically the "screw up" makes it look pretty amazing.

  • @samwyse2006 Yeah, there's a reason for the 64 having the palette that it does. It was designed for use on televisions, and the designers wanted the palette to contain colours that produced as crisp an image as possible. Awww man. This is such a great game, and I love the sounds they got out the SID with simultaneous sfx and music

  • @samwyse2006 You may find that the colour palette is being emulated correctly. Just as you could make the characters drop their pants, you could also change the background colour scheme using various key combos as well as change the animations- wave patterns, sun reflection colour and shape, worms, spiders and birds numbers and frequency, etc. You could also alter the game speed- 5X speed was mental.

  • Very addictive game, but in a therapeutic sort of way.

  • hi, c64's are bad***

  • @Calandreas Okay. Why?

  • Good ol IK+, I remember the day I was playing a game & we had visitors around & they all came in to see me (because I was kicking arse & couldnt stop) & I was on the bouncing ball level where every ball was one of those flashing random balls & I actually made it thru. Gasps of AWE behind me, great days.

  • The Nigel de Jong is big in this one.

  • We spent hours and hours and hours on this years ago. I would love to play all the commodore games again or even own the console.

  • @IrishCoffeeWC3 Try using it on those bouncing balls. ;) Just kidding., everyone's got their style. :)

  • The sprites moved sooo soft and clean on this game i remeber!!

  • Great game, the true dividing line between the older games wich had very static backgrounds and the newer games with random stuff happening. (notice the fishes, the spiders, the waves, sun waves in the water, seagulls etc..)

  • deadly bouncing balls of death.

  • Best soundtrack EVER hands down... Actually the sound effects were samples that were digitized from Bruce Lee's movie Enter The Dragon. Just watch some clips from the movie on youtube and you'll recognize the screams :)

  • One of the all-time greatest C64 games. And man, were there many of games.

  • How do you block in this game? all i ever get is this guy holding his hand up to his face in an attempt to block, only to get knocked out anyway

Is there any point to blocking?

  • @Adropacrich2

Lol yes i always had the same problem

thats why i loved exploding fist where your blocking skill actually mattered

  • sweaty hands slip off joysticks lol

  • Boing !

  • Wahnsinn! Mein Lieblingsspiel <3

    Unerreicht bis heute!

  • First computer game i ever played. Loved it!

  • Missed this one. It was on c64?

  • Quality game. I still play this on the c64, amiga and atari st. Good games never get old, never get get boring.

  • @bazfanv2 I still play this on my still working 25 year old C64!!! Good times haven't ended for me!

  • I loved that game...regardless if it was Atari or Comodorre version... zeah

  • i never did get to black belt only brown......awsome game one of the best fighting simulation games ever

  • My childhood dream! Thanks to share

  • Anyone reading this able to point out how you block with success in the game?

Upon holding back in the desired direction to avoid an incoming flying kick say, the guy raises his hands up in a defensive position, only to then be smashed in the face

Iv'e always quite liked this game but i may as well not bother blocking if i want it to be any fun

People reading this, have a go and see what you think concerning what seems an issue of the game

I'm puzzled why this is never mentioned tbh

  • Hardcore ballpunch at 1:35

  • Classic, love the Enter the Drangon samples!

  • the headbutt was the best move, oh how me and my brother laughed

  • haha.. So did me and my brother.. Joyful times :)

  • @dagoelius headbutt is quite amusing agreed.

  • This had some pretty sweet music :D

  • hell yeah! is there a remix or something outthere from this?

  • 1:35 AUCH :D

  • I remember this from C64 but i allways thought it was the Karade Kid 2 game:)

I remember i played this and Skate Or Die

  • Hmmm, as I remember it, the belt on the actuall avatar changes along with the indication below "time" ?

  • how do you turn?

  • If I remember rightly you turn by steering up and away from where you are facing. So if you are facing right, press up+left to turn. I think you'll turn and punch as you do so. (haven't seen this game for about 20 years I'd say.

  • i especialy liked to watch the sunset:)

  • fantatsic game those days

  • I loved the bonus stage (Boncing balls).

  • I owned both, but I liked this one more!

  • Is this a sequel to IK or something? I had IK for C64 and don't remember having the blue guy or the bouncing balls, etc.. Were there 2 versions of this game?

  • yeah this was a follow-on. Great game!

  • i was the same, but i remember the balls. u got them onced u pass ur belt(DAN) to move on a level. the game i had was "The way of the exploding fist".

  • I had this amazing game.

  • I used to start the Amiga version and just watch all the animated details in the background. There's even a submarine periscope popping up in the water if you wait long enough :)

  • Still looking great. Awesomeness...

  • one of the greatest tunes on c64

  • the balls wiped your arse out man!

  • i love that shit

  • my fav game on C64,and this music... rocks! :D

  • Heh... back then me and my brothers played this until our hands were all torned up... it was THAT awesome! Some of them even managed to make those balls sound like a weird sound... (man he was turning the joystick though!) I didn´t manage to get that far.. but the sound just keeps getting high pitched until it stops at a weird one. This might only be available to those playing with the joystick though... aka the original.

  • Pretty good playing there.

  • Das ist ein Stück Spielgeschichte!Geil!

  • i played this game days after days when i was youngh !! still am tho xD 19 now.. played this while i was 9-10 ? and my li'll bro's play World of Warcraft now.. what a diffrence... yeez but this game rocked :D such as last ninja and some others i cant rly remember the names

  • The only thing I didn't like about the game was the never-changing background. IK had 8 different ones, albeit non-animated. The colission detection was also a pain sometimes.

And you should've paused the game at least once, the animation was ace.

  • true Corbon , but the 1st one is almost a different game in many respects. The guy who made it did good games though, dropzone etc. Just well I guess they could have done a multi load.. remember the game has 3 players logic + the silly amount of sprites for anim, and the sound is samples also? only so much you can put into the memory =)

  • whoops i wish i wore my groin protection! F@#K sake.

  • This game blew IK one and two out of the water. What was with Way of the exploding fist? Exactly the same and IK one and Two???

Yie ar Kung fu was fun, Blues was tricky. Thanks for posting this!!!

  • pretty sure this is the version where if you could get one of the character to stand still for long enough then his trousers used to fall down

  • Yes it is. There was also a combination of keys you could press to make it happen, if that was your kind of thing. Pressing * would change the sunset reflection too.

  • yeah we all did the trouser thing hehe....head butts rock he he

  • pressing S + E did that.. errm and * changed the reflection as awol mentioned. the 16 bit versions, u could get pac man in the background , a periscope etc.

  • this game should be on xbox LIVE!

  • fucking awesome game i remember this fantastic

  • There was a game hall karate game where you had to jump over a bull. Anybody knows the name and name of the machine?

  • The game ur asking about is Way of the exploding fist.

  • I could never finish thet fucking balls?they gets so fast...

Does anybody know those fucking balls stops coming and the game pass other level?

  • arr, thanks for pointing that out. My Bad.... However, it should be noted that Rob Lowe is actually credited for music within the Amiga version.

  • If this doesn't come out on the Wii Virtual Console, someone at Nintendo deserves to lose their job. It wipes the floor with the original IK

  • This game rules, and so does the COOOL Music by Archer Maclean. I crank this evey time I launch WinUAE on my PC or PSP. I rekon I used to come home and play this game evry night after school for nearly 2 years on both c64 and Amiga platforms.... Shit, to think most games these days Ive had enough of in 2 mins in comparison!

Note, on every 3rd level, the C64 version had the deflect balls gamem. On the amiga, evey other bonus round also included the 'kick bombs' games.

  • The music was by Rob Hubbard. Archer McLean did everything else.

  • CHECK THE HIGH SCORE TABLE! :)

There are some "Easter Eggs" hidden in the text. You need some low scores to see the whole message :)

    Hope, it was in IK+...

  • loved all the extra backgrounds, with various key combs, you could speed up the fighting, change sunsets, change ripple effects, change "worms", etc. AWESOME GAME.

  • yeah they had this on the Atari 800 too. You got to break boards between levels...awesome stuff...love the music

  • did other versions have deflecting balls ?

  • WOW!!

  • best game ever!!

  • I love those back flips.

  • Classic game.

The action looks great even today.

  • Well, this was one of the first games I played on my own Commodore 64, so I prefer this version.

  • C64 IK+, this is. It's on the Amiga, too, but this is the C64 version. And yes, it totally rocked back in the day - Got my black belt but the computer gets super nasty the more rounds you go and it's a big struggle :)

  • @boingy1972

No, this is the C64 version.

  • ha ha. I love this game, but I never saw it in colour on my C64^^
