  • What's the difference between short crust and pie crust? I made these for Christmas they were a hit with the family. Thank you from Virginia, USA :)

  • One of the best cooking videos I've seen on youtube.

  • @hummarstra

That´s a lovely comment and I very much appreciate that!

Happy Christmas and I wish you a happy New Year :)

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef You're welcome and same to you. I made them tonight, but I burned them! Oh, well. I still have plenty of dough for a few more batches. I followed your teaching, particularly on how to put them together. For the liquor, I used Grand Marnier and it worked great. I also added toasted walnuts.

  • i ate every one of those pies ha ha, merry christmas.

  • @winxger

I hope you had a nice cup of tea to wash them all down :)

Well done and have a great Christmas!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Will you stop posting these tasty recipe's as my tummy is gonna explode!

  • @eggnogonthebog

We can't have any tummies exploding, that sounds a bit messy :)

Can I recommend a good run, which should help to keep things in trim!

Thanks for all your lovely comments over the time and for watching my vids.

  • Great video! The only problem with mince pies is the rate at which they move out of the cake tin lol :) Thanks for sharing your talents as always ~PG~

  • @PaganGlade

Do you mean you actually are able to keep them in the cake tin!

My mince pies never manage to get into the cake tin :)

Have a great week ahead and hopefully hear from you again soon.

  • Awesome I will double this for Christmas this year! Could you tell me how much butter you used in cups or tablespoons? I really enjoy your videos, thanks!

  • @TheProofBallet

    The amount of butter I used was 150 grams(around 2/3 a cup)

    Good luck and enjoy!

    OriginalNakedChef

  • they look tasty,

  • @markcumbriauk

Thanks and a merry Christmas to you.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Nice recipe. I'll certainly be making those with pleanty of brandy. Thanks for the advice!

BTW, are you really naked when you make these videos and cooking? I guess that's why we only see your hands. It can be dangerous being naked near to a hot oven and bet it's a mess geting pastry in your pubes so you did a good job.

  • @ephemeralprotagonist

Thanks for that comm. As you say if I were naked you would have to be careful :)

    Original Naked Chef

  • top class once again

  • @OriginalNakedChef cheers! happy cmas.

  • Great, thanks alot for your help ;)

  • Good honest home cooking, congratulations, I have a few questions, how much is two cups of flour in grams, I noticed no water was needed and finally how near to xmas must I make them. Thanks ;)

  • @bartrebe

Thank you for those kind words. Good home cooking sounds good to me.

Ref the "Two cups of flour"

The acutal weight in grams of each cup can vary slightly depending on how compact each cup of flour is.

Measurement of each cup as: between 125 grams each to 137 grams per cup.

No water needed. Dont forget a little beaten egg though.

Ref how close to christmas should you make them, ideally a day or 2 would be ideal. If you make them too early they will probably get eaten :)

  • I am a baker and i approve!!! It looks amazingly delicious! I really like your videos!

  • @artcakes

If your a baker and I am just a humble cook and you approve, then thats great!

  • great stuff. i saw the adverts at the beginning? are you a youtube partner now?

for the longest time i thought mince pies were cold mince meat pies and that scared me away. great recipe. are they typically served after or before the christmas meal?

will you do a 1000 subscriber special? you're getting close to that golden number.

  • @kumquatsta

I was lucky enough to be made a partner 2 to 3 months ago.

Yes the name mice meat for the filling does sound like it’s meat, that’s why I clarified that on the vid. Didn't want to scare anyone away.

Mince pies are normally served after the dinner. They can be a pudding or a snack.

I did think about about doing a milestone vid but never got round to it. I do however appreciate all my subscribers, after all its you subscriber that got me where I am now.

  • @OriginalNakedChef congrats on the youtube partnership and subscribers. you've deserved it. look forward to new videos.

  • @kumquatsta

Thanks for that :), although I make the vids it’s the viewers and subscribers like yourself that are the important ones. Without you lot where would I be.

Its always nice speak to everyone and even if the comments are short and sweet they are always appreciated!

Hopefully you will all keep watching, commenting and rating the vids.

New subscribers are always welcome :))

    OriginalNakedChef

  • Nice!. I was wondering when you were going to make these actually. A great Christmas tea-time snack!

  • @Karl6478

    Hi Karl6478,

They are a great christmas tea time snack. After you have stuffed yourself full with turkey there always the mince pies :)

I have done the chilli con carne vid but I need to findsome time to edit it. If I get time I will have ago at doing that over the next week or so for you.

    OriginalNakedChef

  • @OriginalNakedChef thanks for the chili con carne vid, I'm looking forward to it! hope it's a long vid :P

And you're near to the 1000 subscribers! pre grats ;)

  • @Karl6478

Hopefully it does not dissapoint :)

I will try not to shorten the vid too much.

Thanks for the congrats on the magic number. Dont forget you are one of those subscribers and I do appreciate that.

  • @idioticscheme666

Baking classes are a really good thing. It makes you realize how easy cooking is.

Glad you like the recipe and definatly worth a try.
