The U.S Constitution prevents any monarch/legislative body from making any citizen forceably do anything. Making americans buy healthcare when some of us can only afford to eat off the "dollar menu"...if even that...is unbelievably unconstitutional! Millions living paycheck to paycheck and deep in debt, comon... why don't you pass a bill that allows you to forceably rape citizens? Might as well.
I find it very odd that the republicans just hate government run healthcare so much, and yet they take advantage of it every day with their government job! I bet you Dick Cheney would be dead of his heart attacks were it not for his "terrible government run healthcare"!
OMG! This guy being from Ohio is just like OSU Buckeyes, He just will not GO AWAY!!! Go away PLEASE!!! Your second rate! And where was this Idiot when Pres Bush Gave the Bailout!?? Republicans get their campaign funding from the insurance company's. So, of course their going to oppose this bill. They still are. Thats how are goverment works. Sad to say, sad to hear. "For the people, by the people" is just some ink on paper. Fk em both.
looks like boehner the boner is finally showing his true hatred of the american poor. on thursday the Greedy Old Party introduced a bill that would repeal the HC law and replace it with all republican ideas or in other words the Rethugs are moving to take away healthcare from the poor and leaving the HC industry do what ever the hell they feel like. Message to Boehner don't repeal the HC law but instead try doing somthing productive
The democRATS use the people who truly need help to do a goverment take over of 100% of the nations health care. A slobering idiot can see through this.
Have you even read the bill completely you fucking idiot, your the kind of idiot that is a follower, you only know what other people tell you...you never investigate by yourself always following and never leading....typical republican....read the fucking bill then you can come argue with facts. Respectfully disagree on 2 fronts: (1)He DID want a public option, and only later dropped it from the bill. This in and of itself says it all; (2) as Krauthamer points out, this bill is, in effect, a public option. Instead of govt providing healthcare directly, they have the private insurance companies do it--at their bidding. Govt dictates everything, and the ins do as they are told. They are the arms of govt, and it is a de facto public option plan. Feel free to refute if you can.
What a liberal prick little Stumpy Hoyer is. Democrats and the left wingers once again fail to see that opinion should end where facts begin. Yeah Obama/Pelosi, it maks a TON of sense to scrap a system that works for 90% of Americans to accomadate 32 million. I hope the republicans never, ever again try to sell the "we're a christian nation" BS to Americans. it's just a bumper sticker, a slogan. the rhetoric that I have heard from them and read here about having to pay for "undeserving people". what is your criteria for an undeserving person. because someone lost their job or they got sick? the truth is we don't really care about the other person when the perception is that they are a parasite! what would jesus do? he'd move to another country!
I can respect the views of someone who presents carefully considered arguments, but not when the language of their every criticism appears to describe no possible result short of armageddon. At that point the conversation ceases being intellectual discourse and becomes propaganda.
Speaking to those who are for the Bill passing (I am one myself), what's your take on everybody being forced to have insurance, when it's privately provided? Kinda sounds like auto-insurance which pisses me off.. If I'm forced to have it, there should a subsidized option, provided by a pool of people who OPT to pay a tax on it, in order to be a part of it.... Thanks for shooting that idea down Republicans.
Thoughts on the mandate to carry private insurance? Insurance co's laughing to the bank?
I'm happy with the health insurance I've already got. Why would I want undeserving people getting health care at my expense. My company will now need to pay an additional 200 a month per employee for this new bill. I sure hope my rates don't go up and I find myself living in a socialist society. I hope the +10 states will sue the govt over the bills' unconstitutionality. I understand taxation, but damn...they just can't MAKE someone pay for insurance. Then MAKE me pitch in for it.
No one liked the Republican party for the past 12 years because we had George Bush. I garuntee if we had a different Republican preisdent, we wouldn't be in a crisis today.
That's a pretty accurate assertion. Everybody who examined Bushy's policies knows that is was basically Reagan's policies on steroids, which was a microcosm of what happened in the "roaring 2000s"... Massive bailouts b/c of complete deregulation of saving and loans, borrowing at the highest rate ever vaulting the deficit into the stratusphere, slashing the hell out of social programs (which made up 40% of Ronnie's cuts, but accounted for less than 10% of GOVT spending), sharply cut the taxes of
the top 1% a trillion dollar price tags, raise military spending by 40% (at least Bushy had wars to fight, Reagan did it for fun), and "get tough on crime" particularly pretty drug offenses which literally doubled the prison population which we pay for at 30,000 a pop per yr. Sharply cut taxes, spike military spending, increase jailing... Erickson his economic advisor in my text
And same as in the 80s, we went from the largest creditor nation to the largest debtor nation in the 2000s... :(
Is quoted after referencing these three areas with regards to Reagan balancing the budget: "He didn't want to believe there was a problem. That was his selectivity on the facts of life. He systematically would blast congress for the soaring deficit, although he himself was responsible for 90% of the problem."
And same as in the 80s, we went from the largest creditor nation to the largest debtor nation in the 2000s... :(
At the same time I'm willing to take a little walk on faith for something new being more money is spent on health care here and we rank 37th in the world [this is determined by a combined scale of infant mortality rate/adult longevity, World Health Organization]. I don't see it getting to be any worse of a system. The question is how great will the reduction of the deficit be by changing the current course of the status qou's drain on it..
is really solving except restrictions on insurers to basically not deny someone the right to live through you're insurance b/c they're a high liability, give some subsidies for the needy -which we already do by treating them anyway and then taking hits on our existing premiums to cover their bill-, and enforcing everyone to have it which I'm not sure how productive it is. But hey it's something which I guess is important to alleviate scare illusions that led to zero votes by Republicans [kinda
kind've repayments on past debts -maybe even interest free, but some kind've repayment- if you're back on your feet with 50,000-60,000 income]. And also we're already paying for those who aren't insured and get emergency treatment anyway, so really we're really already paying for these ppl anyway, many whose complications could be prevented and treated for less if they were regularly in the doctor's office with a thrifty health care plan.
In conclusion: Plan is kinda weak (not so sure what is
made better and with less regulation which is beneficial to both preserving our traditions of free enterprise and give a progressive solution to an oppressive price fixing, doctor burdening entities called insurers whose premiums went up 5% while inflation was negative.
Economically, this is helpful... the # 1 cause for bankruptcy is health care costs [read econ 101 books even you need to one why bankruptcy is bad... I'm kinda against it or at least feel you should have start making some
in opposition to a free market.... but hey I guess under a common sense idea of allowing ppl to join a pool with lower rates, you wouldn't have to regulate them b/c they'd lower their prices to stay competitive.
But at the same time I'm glad it's passed b/c it's some form of government (which is us you retards) to help alleviate some of the boogey man scare tactics about health care being sponsored for the ppl by the ppl. Maybe ten yrs from now when the boogey man nature is gone it can be
for the ppl paid for by the ppl who want it. But now we kinda got an auto-insurance bill- You're forced to have it or get penalized, it does nothing to solve price fixing by insurers..... All I can see that it really does is prevent ppl from being turned down, gives subsidies to the needy (which fyi for welfare type whiners... welfare makes up 2 cents of every dollar the U.S. spends; not a bad investment to significantly reduce petty crime), and imposes profit restrictions on insurers which is
To be totally honest I don't know how I feel about this.
If the Republicans hadn't been such d-bags they wouldn't have fought to the nail to prevent a public option... if we had that you wouldn't have to force regulations on private insurers... Allow those who want in on the public option pool to pay a tax on it, and 90% tax credit out of the pool (a Dem idea, but I'd like to see total exemption) for those who don't want in... Priv's lower their rates and loopholes b/c ppl have an alternative
Boehner you have a great speech yesterday to congress the only thing is these liberal dems are absolutely insane. They are all brainwashed and it is ridiculous.
your insurance company is NOT your friend....why do you loonies keep thinking that somehow they are going to lower their rates "because it's the right thing to do". they are your real death panels. get sick or have some ongoing illness and see how fast you get dropped because you turned into a "dog". I'm glad steve king mentioned the "velvet revolution" in his stupid "clog D.C" rally. it put the focus on the fact that Czechoslovakia, after that revolt, adopted universal healthcare. !! idiots
I don't - i think just about every business is the same, and that's being profit-driven while providing the best possible service to retain customers.
What trumps profit, though, is competition and cost to produce/provide. Right now, cost of care and insurance is high - and, insuring something with potential high costs is obviously costly. Therein lies the root of the problem. It's cost.
I agree with your comments other that I think we have some hope for November. If Democrats only lose 4 seats they can't continue to do the type of thing they did yesterday and we should have a more reasonable Congress. I am hopeful that a new Congress will strip out some of the more unreasonable parts of the bill at least. I pity those that may spend time in jail for not buying health insurance and hope that it is not me who can't afford the insurance.

John Boner keeps refering to all of you dim-witted, racist, white trash hillbilly teabaggers as "the american people"...Shame on you Boner, you're a scumbag.
You do realize that calling somebody a white trash hillbilly is in itself racist, but this is the kind of rhetoric to be expected from brain washed liberals , its ok for you to accuse other people of doing something while you in fact are doing it yourself. I think anybody can tell who the dumb american is here

Wow, after listening to the Republicans spew garbage for the last couple months, I woke up today thinking it would be the end of the world today...but no.
The Republicans' house-of-cards has crumbled!
Congrats Dems and President Obama! You have already accomplished more in a year than Bush did in 8!
haha the fallout has been hilarious! I can watch that idiot say we're the best health care system in the world over and over and it never gets old... I think he meant to say our true rank... 37th!
health care in canada is free but you have to wait in line since most good docs practice in countries that allow them to make big profit, you will regret the day you ever saw barrack obama america
That is inaccurate, my in laws live in B.C. and never have trouble; its not as expedient as in the U.S. but its not a drawn out waiting game like you fabricate-guess what thats how anything that involves a sale works; faster service, and guess what if you want to go pay for the doctor to see you b/c youre impatient you can! Our docs arent going anywhere, were the most unregulated union in the world (they make 2.5 times as much here as anywhere else). Retard..
He was referring to the quality of our doctors and facilities. Why do you think people come from around the world to take advantage of our health care options/technology. Corporations made that happen. Nothing wrong with that. The govt will mess it up, don't you know this! Socialism is not fair, Ironic huh.
interesting that you choose to confuse quality with cost. and your claim that your company will pay more per employee is a canard, an outright lie. apparently you didn't read or hear what was said about the tax credit for businesses that pay for employee insurance. if the bill is unconstitutional then anything you get from the government is and by default, boehner is guilty of receiving healthcare illegally. that would apply to ALL employees of the government. Military too!!
We wont see any major changes from the reform until 2014. What made you think 1 day after the bill was passed the world would crumble and prove that the republicans were right. It's the principle; Small govt. Individual rights. freedom to choose, NOT SOCIALISM. Obama hasn't accomplished shit, just ask your buddy Bill Maher and he'll agree. BUSH changed a regime (for better or for worse) now THAT'S accomplishing SOMETHING. You liberal fools are just giving your freedom away
Idiot democrat! Well.... well.... even if the American people don't want this in the majority, they do want all of our ideas......So basically, the Americans don't really know what they want, they're too stupid to know, so we'll just ignore the polls and pass this anyway! It's time to purge the system! Get rid of these corrupt bullshitters-
Did he just say "we've got the best health-care system in the world?"
Tell that to the hard working Americans that have had their lives ruined simply because they got sick and the insurance companies dropped their coverage because of a pre-existing condition
You imbecile!!!! We do have the best health care system in the world!!! We don' t have the cheapest health care, we just have the best. What we don't have is the best insurance system in the world, it's two separate things sherlock-
Why should the hard working law abiding tax paying blue collar Americans surrender a large majority of their wages to pay for the Scum that depends on the Demagogues and sellout Republicans for their welfare, stamps, and now health care.
You bottom feeding left wing filth are not entitled to anything except Freedom and pursuit of happiness. Why all of a sudden is that not enough? Why are you entitled to anything. Turn your jealousy into a motivator and get off your FAT ASS!
So the right fucked everything up for 8 years so now let's let this corrupt left wing pack of cunts make Bush's mistakes look minor.
When are you marxist puppets gonna realize we don't all demand and want the same for ourselves and our families. The bigger, more involved the Gov. gets the worse society gets. The more the Left STEALS from the middle class and redistributes to the welfare degenerates and illegal freedom exploiting cockroaches, the smaller the middle class will become.
The People's senate has spoken. You do not represent the majority, stop "adopting" my absentee vote. I would not piss on the best of John Boner. Real professional and dramatic. Republicans had eight years to even remotely touch health care and sat on their dead asses and collected a check WITH INSURANCE!
@xjmachine Real health care reform is good, it's needed, I'm all for it. This bill is a pile of shit. When you have to bribe members of your own party - to squeak out a partisan victory, you know the bill is rancid.
@xjmachine America is land of diversity. This bill will effect many people in many different ways. Some it will leave uncomfortable and some it will give hope. And then there are soldiers using the VA for the rest of their lives who will never have to worry. (They have earned it, I just wish my 21year old marine nephew blown up in Abur garab lived to use it. Buit for republicans to stand and represent a portion of the population after years of doing nothing is dead wrong
Listen to the subtext of Boehner's words: be afraid, be afraid, be afraid.
Sometimes the people don't know what's best for them. Health Care Reform keeps Americans alive. If you're opposed to that, you should take a serious look inside yourself and re-evaluate your priorities.
The 2,700 page government control bill will pass today without a doubt. The progressives have admitted that this is the "foot in the door" for the takeover of our health care system. If we are to have our government controlling health care then why go down the same road as the failed British system and not down the road of the government controlled, but very successful German system. Answer, the British system empowers government more than the German system.
Watch the underground economy grow to keep these f__king federal government thieves from stealing everything we have. America will be forced to eat rice and beans and President O will keep on having his $150 lb steaks during his Wednesday cook outs. We pay for that you know when he hosts parties. PARTAY!! KING OBAMA eating steaks, flying all over with his family on vacation after vacation. DEMOCRATS- THE PARTY OF THE COMMON AMERICAN----MY ASS! THE DEMS WHO VOTED 4 THAT CROOK ARE DAMN FOOLS.
Our health care system sucks, and it is only getting worse. This bill is not perfect, but it is sure better than the status-quo; especially for the little kids who are gonna be able to get coverage. P.S., who lied us into Iraq. We could sure use all those billion and billions of dollars right now.
WTF do you want? Are you trying to act like you understand what the white people are doing to you again? Bitch, you belong in shackles.
"Who lied us into Iraq"? Both parties and the UN said Saddam was a threat and likely had WMD's. You are just a brainwashed trick polishing your masters shoes, you dont know shit, stfu.
Hoyer points to the 1993 vote and touts it as being part of a great economy but the fact is that ALAN GREENSPAN was running the show and creating the bubble that finally just blew up in our faces back in 2008.
These people never learn or think we are too stupid to see through their lies. Keynesian economics and the Federal Reserve destroyed us.
I look forward to it's abolishment. But we need libertarians to do that. Republicans won't do it and we know damn well the Democrats won't do it.
Hoyer calls it a "deficit reduction bill", what a complete crock of lies. The illegal programs Medicaid and Medicare created huge losses through out their entire history.
Hoyer goes on to falsely quote polls and got owned on it right away, but that's not my point. My point it is obvious that these people are only listening to themselves and thus are operating in an echo chamber.
I got so disgusted from the democrats when I saw this interview. Rep. Hoyer has no respect for humanity and even for a republican leader. I would love to see him loose next election and then replay the comment he said here.
If this passes all hell will break lose on Monday. I bet we start feeling the unintended consequences right away. By Thursday you'll probably see a letter from your insurance company raising your rates big time and a huge number of doctors retiring.
This reminds me of the old saying "as goes GM so goes the economy". Well, the gov took over GM and its being run into the ground.

Is quoted after referencing these three areas with regards to Reagan balancing the budget: "He didn't want to believe there was a problem. That was his selectivity on the facts of life. He systematically would blast congress for the soaring deficit, although he himself was responsible for 90% of the problem."

It's cost.

interesting that you choose to confuse quality with cost. and your claim that your company will pay more per employee is a canard, an outright lie. apparently you didn't read or hear what was said about the tax credit for businesses that pay for employee insurance. if the bill is unconstitutional then anything you get from the government is and by default, boehner is guilty of receiving healthcare illegally. that would apply to ALL employees of the government. Military too!!
