I'd say its because the sudden stop - releasing lot of energy at one moment. That's why the roling crashes are better, the car comes to a stop gradually and not suddenly. There is a nice video about that on the wrc site..
I hadn't realized how severe Pivato's condition was after this crash. It was a very unspectacular accident but they're always the worst because the driver/codriver takes the full brunt of the impact and there's no way for the energy to be dispersed. Hope Patrick gets well soon!
il seré temp que duval aprène a conduire ou arrete,et moi a écrire je c,,,combien de sorti il a fais depuis qu il en wrc et de voiture cassé?citroen trois déja en meme pas une saison,il avé la chance de courir avec loeb,c son copilote que je plaind plus particlierement,bon rétablissement e change surtou de pilote avan de mourir stp..........la sa craind quan meme.

Duval est bien moins sorti que les Sordo, Atkinson, Galli, Aava, Al quasmir, H. Solberg et que dire du fils Wilson tout en étant plus rapide que tous ces pilotes. Il est temps qu'on lui donne un volant officiel pour qu'il puisse s'exprimer sur toute une saison sans pression.
looks bad have been following WRC for years and this is not the first crash of Duval i can tell you..some years ago he was fired by Citroen by making too many crashes, he is fast but not always in control...good luck to Pivato...greetings from Holland...bye
@glorys6 He did not crash all that much when he was with Ford and Markko Martin and he was getting good results... then he switched to french team and his career went down-hill from then on.
Of course that's the risk they all have to take each time they do a rally, but Patrick is not the first cj-driver to be injured in his crashes either, unfortunately.
Strange...The crash don,t seems to be that bad,but it almost killed his co-driver.
