I really hate to tell yall talking shit about duramaxs but that chevy was not a diesel truck. I havent lately seen a duramax rev about 6 grand like that truck other than the banks truck...and if duramax is shit then why is the sidewinder type d the quickest and fastest diesel pickup in the world. This is a very old video.. That truck is doing 10.0's at just under 140 mph now.. It should be faster this season.. My daily driver 06 2500 has been 11.34. That's a true daily driver 2wd on street tires doing 128.7 in the quarter.. It also gets 23 mpg with the cruise set on 78 mph. The lack of traction is my problem..
Okay..dumb question...HOW would your truck get 23MPG at such a high speed as a Full size truck has fairly high air drag at highway speeds? And some guys I know with diesels say they get "only" about 16-17 at best on the highway going 65?? How is your able to get so much better?? Or is there something I dont understand?
Mine is 2wd and weighs in at 6,370 pounds.. I'm also running 3.42 gears. It also gained 1.5 mpg when I added the torque converter lockup box. There are many tricks to getting better mileage.. It gets that mileage at 78 mph because that's the sweet spot for this combination.. That's right at or just under 2,000 rpm. Mine gets best mileage with the programmer set on stock, and the TS MP8 set on high. By the calculators, it's around 940hp at the rear wheels.. Larger chargers are on the way

Your gonna need more then that to get 600hp outta the common rail. Gonna need more fuel; injectors, better flowing cp3, and maybe a fass. Gonna need a good set of headstuds, o-ring the head and a decent head gasket. Also a clutch or a built auto trans to put the power to the tires.

There are duramaxs that run 9's . If you knew about cars or trucks it matters on what mods they have. Duramax is still built by Isuzu and Cummings is International which also has foreign parts. Dodge is losing Cummings and Ford is picking them up.

ive seen stock 4x4s drive around them with no issue....
not driving a kx on the trails... ive had a cr 250 in the trails lots of times...
but according to you its better then a 4x4 truck, but its only good if you are on a track made especially for it....

hi i have a queston im geting a 04 dodge cummins and im geting a turbo exaust chip and tahts about it the turbo i want gets 550hp is its max and and my chip 150 and i wanted 2 now if i do all that il be around 600hp maby more for just thows mods will i hurt the moter

Your gonna need more then that to get 600hp outta the common rail. Gonna need more fuel; injectors, better flowing cp3, and maybe a fass. Gonna need a good set of headstuds, o-ring the head and a decent head gasket. Also a clutch or a built auto trans to put the power to the tires.

the page of comments before this, ford is making thier own diesels or will start and reason is they can get a 3.7 with twin turbos to put out 272 hp and almost 500 lbs of torque. they make a landrover in australia with it, they are designed by fords suits in england and the research place is called dagenheim, as far as who is better i figure it will be better to wait out the CGI engines and then find out who is king

You would be amazed what 10,000 dollars (or so) in mods will do to a diesel motor. Between a Banks package and propane injection you can make them into real brutes.

Dodge makes good trucks but Ford has all the numbers. GVWR, Combined GVWR, towing, payload, 5th wheel. Chevy is a poor excuse for a truck. Explain why they went BACK to rear drum brakes in 2005.. other than to screw their customers?

There are duramaxs that run 9's . If you knew about cars or trucks it matters on what mods they have. Duramax is still built by Isuzu and Cummings is International which also has foreign parts. Dodge is losing Cummings and Ford is picking them up.

Do your research before you open your mouth. cummins owns cummins and no one else. dodge leases the rights to use their engines just like ford does with navistar. ford bought the lease for 2 years while the powerjoke was was being tested so that they couldnt make changes to it. fords lease with cummins was up in 1998 hence the 24 v ho. niether ford nor international nor dodge own cummins. they are their own entity. anybody want to chalenge that?
