  • Hey; is it possible to point me towards a few songs that feature this particular technique?

  • amateur as me...

  • @oskarveliky oh fuck off

  • Nice :D

  • nice

  • how do you traditional and why is it so benficial?? it just seems to make my finger hurt!

  • @TheFUNNYFLOWERS I'm not going to pretend I can tell people how to play trad grip, but I am a completely matched player with sticks and was taught that way with brushes too, but I play brushes trad. For me it just s seems to allow more textures an easier movement around the snare with brushes and I get a more comfortable position for the majority of the time I am playing sweeps compared to matched.

  • its like drumming...only for retards !

  • @sammyboi1453 hahaha...just fuck you man, you obviously don't know a shit about about drumming...

  • @cr1msonking93 i shag drum kits

  • @sammyboi1453 you must hate music then?

  • Comment removed

  • tripple H?? o.O

  • Sound better without the snares on.

  • Ohh man i hate brushes :D

  • Very nice!

  • brushes, the best reason to feel good.

  • Nice brush work................

  • looks like a cooking lesson. lol

  • @AdobePhotos i always said that lol

  • Zildjian brushes?

  • nice drums john

    I've got that Basix too

  • is this a basix neon?

  • Some neat tricks for me to learn when I am ready for it. Thanks John!

  • Nice

  • Well...I thought it was really cool.

  • He's got the right idea but his left hand sweep is a bit unsure. Ed thigpen did a great video on brushes where he gets the left hand doing the windshield wiper movement and this helps to keep a strong pulse, whist the Rhand plays the jazz pattern.check it /him out. nice work though, keep it up..

  • if you think it doesnt groove, post your own burshworkvideo. this is right on the meter and the dynamics are great. play better, then u can say u groove more.

  • Why's everyone so cynical?

Very basic, solid technique. This may not be too flashy, but it wasn't worthy of "ass clown". This might serve just fine for some piano trio at, like, a rotary club dinner or something. Not an insult, btw. Bills must be paid.

    Boosh.

  • Yeah, i think so, too.

    not very good technique.

just listen to the "peter erskine: playing with brushes-videos" and you'll learn the right technique with a really better sound^^

  • yea-lackin' some groove definitely... keep workin it.. check out Ari Hoenig's brush work... yeaaaaa

  • i can do it all with my KITCHEN WHIPS hav-a-look!

  • I almost fell out of my chair laughing at that... LOL

  • oh yes, why don't you put better videos?

you guys love to criticise, but never do nothing good! omfg

    at least the guy tries!

  • My comment wasnt in reference to the video, i personally thinks his brushwork is nice. My comment was in reference to a nother comment from "homedrumming", sorry for the confusion. :)

    cheers.

  • and by the way, that IS swung. how could you say that he's playing it straight?

  • I may be wrong. In Swedish (which is my native language) the term swing refers to something swung that is grooving. I simply cannot hear much groove here...

  • in-correct. something that is not swung can also have groove. swung is when you take what would usually be a straight 8th notes and move to the last riplet of 8th note triplets. even though it is still written as an straight 8th. there many various interprataions of where the eight note is placed

  • Professional drummer?! Then you should play better than that. It doesn't swing and it's not tasty.

  • all the word "professional" implies is that he gets a significant amount of his income from playing. it doesn't mean he's as good as steve smith or the like

  • The word professional also means that you are a skilled worker. There's a difference.

  • Look at the word: profession-al. It means that it is your profession, hence it is a significant portion of income.

  • Don't be too sure now, heh.

  • great groove

  • Yes brush technique..........get some, we"re not convinced

  • agree to me, this guy is not precise on timing and he's too heavy hitting the skins with brushes. And he's not really swingin'. This groove does not swing! I'm sorry.

  • Yea, except that it IS swing.

  • What d'ya mean? I'm just saying this guy isn't good to play swing. Jazz must SWING. And this groove doesn't work.

  • I think it swings.

  • are you dusting?

  • WOW!!!! i always love when people use great technique, which is what you got...keep up the great work

  • sound great congratulation from italy

  • nice busy gillespie

  • hey ....nice beat, i really like it, i never tried using brushes before, mostly cuz i only play the snares

  • Sounds great, man.

  • Sounds great the brush technique. I am just learning brush technique. I wish I could have given you 5 stars. Check out my videos Peter

  • awesome!!

  • it seems to be easy but cuz the way you are playing! nice nice

  • I think it is pretty easy. Well compared to fast paced bebop it is. Easy or not it's incredibly sexy.

  • nice man keep it up

  • welldone check me out @ matthews drum solo and matthews drum solo 2

  • thanls man...realy goooodddddd
