I flew on the exact same airline and plane this past summer when I went on vacation. I flew from Pittsburgh to Chicago-Midway, then from there to Charleston AFB. It took about 5 hours if you count the wait in the airport.
A powerful takeoff video! It looked like it was either going to rain or it had already rained. Was the flight bumpy or smooth due to the weather? Just curious.
@jfjordan1962 - they have that rule for crowd control purposes...maybe the world would have better rules if idiots out there thought more about why laws/rules exist instead of how to better force their peers into compliance...
Ah yes, the old "OMG NO ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT" line. The reason why cabin crew ask you to turn off electrical equipment during takeoff is so that you are not distracted in the event of an emergency. It won't interfere with the plane's electrical systems at all. Phones on the other hand; it's possible they could interfere with the comm systems whilst on the ground. But I don't think there's conclusive evidence yet. If there is can someone point it my way please!
The new PIT Airport opened October 1992 and was incredible. But, thanks to the Liberal/Democrat scum running Allegheny County, the Airport has gone to pot. USAir left, as did a number of other daily flights. Moral of the story - VOTE REPUBLICAN!
it isn't. it is one of the nicest airports in the country! I know this because i live 45 minutes from it. it is really big and nicly done. it is a really cool airport with a whole bunch of stores and resturants. going through security is really fast too! It takes about 20 minutes at the most with a really long line.
frequentairbusfllyer i dont know if you were being sarcastic but it wasnt becuz they wanted to get out of there its probably because they were running late or they couldve got cleared for take off early and had no reason to stop
On my way back home to Philly from Orlando this pass July the pilots on our flight did the same thing. The flights attendants said "Ok, ladies and gentlemen it looks like our pilots are ready to go so prepare for takeoff" and we did not stop. It's like we were zooming just as we turned onto the runway I'm assuming because we were cleared early.
You might be right ... often times though - air traffic control is saying you have somebody on a 2 mile final to land. So IF you want to stop sitting there and wasting fuel ... GO NOW! (Or you will wait longer)
haha i love taking off cause its just like "wow... this is boring, i can't belive i'm stuck on here for a couple hours..." and then once you're in the air its like "awesome" lol
i live in Pittsburgh and i love the airport and it was once the the most popular us airways hub because its a world class airport but now its completly under utilized. PITTSBURGH NEEDS ANOTHER ARLINE THAT WILL MAKE KPIT A HUB!!!
@oldmixedtapess it always looks like that. ever since us airways started pulling out. the place was a hub for them but theey charge waaay to much for the airlines so yeah...
southwest was my first flight ever. Although i love airplanes now and am looking forward to becoming an aerospace engineer, i used to hate takeoffs. But now they are the best part of the trip.
as much as i hate to say this about my home airport, but your right, they went downhill since 9.11. alot of airlines say the landing fees are way too high and PIT will not work with the airlines in any way...
This video brings back memories of my summer vacation. I flew on southwest from Pittsburgh to Chicago Midway, then from there to Charleston, SC.

So you had your electronic instrument on during a take-off risking the plane & its passengers. In Pittsburgh we call you a dumb-ass.
jfjordan1962 2 years ago
Are you retarded? Do you think if anything electrical could in anyway interfere with the flight that they would let you even take it onto the plane?

looks like the pilots wanted to get outta there right away, by the way they turned up the the thrust before they basically got on the runway.

i've seen other pilots do it before and it's normal

Pittsburgh is a really nice airport. Its clean and is very good when there is a delay. Can't wait for our nonstop Paris flight in summer '09

I think he was just trying to start up and synchronize the second engine cause when southwest airlines taxis, they only use one engine.

this is typical for budget airlines with a quick turn around i.e. 25 mins hehe - the pilot spools on taxi, it speeds up departure a lot.
Im so used to this whenever I fly with Ryanair or Jet2
American767 3 years ago
didn't he spool up early to synchronize the engines too?
Cessnapilot03 3 years ago
i have no idea?!?!
I thought jets auto synced anyway
