  • Wilco is one of my favorite bands and let me say I love this version. Love your percussion techniques in this . Refreshingly creative.

  • I heard the mp3 of this before I saw the video. I'm blown away by the amount of different sounds you captured.

  • The first time I saw this I was awe-struck, and are amazed everytime I watch this video.

Lauren is just un-freakin believable, playing all the instruments in this clip, she is a one woman band, who cares if it is a cover!

She has smashed it out of the stratosphere with this performance, I just love it :)

  • This is...really good.

Alright, Wilco's been around long enough now that I think their catalog is up for review for cover cannibalism en masse. I mean all Jay Bennett stuff, say what you will about the dude or his solo stuff but that period was gold. Some good songs to take apart and rebuild would be Red Eyed and Blue, Outta Mind (Outtasite), Passenger Side, Hotel Arizona, Christ, nearly anything on Summerteeth would sound good with a female voice (and different instrumentation maybe).

    I dunno.

  • The effects you made for this are amazing. O.O

  • Has Wilco heard this yet?

  • Absolutely brilliant LaurenOC12 very talented and nice voice too

  • you did it.

  • :D

  • I would never have the creativity or the audacity to ever do what you did here. Congrats on going against the grain. I've never heard anything like this until now.

  • It's like watching a very talented composer, a great singer, someone as inventive as The Blue Man Group, and a foley artist all in one.

    I am just floored.

  • Love the part where she kicks the garage door... that was funny.

All those items used for sound seems so perfect that I doubt normal instruments would do the song justice.

  • I didn't say its a jock hoho hahahahahahhahaha:D

u r funny bt gud job hahahahah

  • Love your eyes, same color as mine...

  • That was seriously outstanding.

  • good job!

  • wow that was amazing

  • It speaks a lot to your character as a musician that you embraced the surreal quality of the original.

  • Subscribed :))

  • Talk about GARAGE music. bahaha get it? kidding. you're amazing.

  • Just bout every instrument but a drum kit, yet I still like it better than most stuff out there!

Yeah. Just had one of those.

    that was awesome

Quite like, has never been incorporated at all. Bravo.

  • Hermosa

  • If I had even half of your talent, I would be famous.

  • Wilco? Seriously? And I didn't think you could get any more amazing. Jesus woman - you make me want to hang up my guitar in shame.

  • Amazing cover!! You are very talented!!

  • great!

  • you're trying too hard at the end, otherwise good

  • you are so goooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If it wasn't 11:45 PM and I wasn't sure I would put my foot right through it, I would want to go kick my garage door good and hard. And if your Oh Death wasn't so stunningly amazingly good, I would agree with that guy up there... about the best cover video thing...

  • Lauren, all your songs make my tear up, ... you are so good, it breaks my heart, in a good way!

  • Some of the noises get to be a bit much. But jeepers, this was an amazing cover.

  • you made me seek out my sister and request that she play this song with me. in our garage. with no instruments. <3

  • @xIloveMusickkx

She kind of is, now that she has been playing with Nataly so much.

  • @xIloveMusickkx The good ones never are

  • Your approach is not unlike John Cage's' in the concept of using things in everyday life as rythmic devices, This is an INCREDIBLE art piece; video, song, insrumentation, etc. BRAVO!!! I was planning on doing a cover of this song soon. I'll send it to ya!!! Art-Rock On!!!

  • great just great i loved it it was soooo good!

  • Awesome work here. Love the garage door kick!

  • fantastic!!!

  • the screencap showed a chick playing bass and i thought, "wow this chick is probably gonna suck" I am splendidly surprised! Good Job!

  • daniel johnston

  • my heart goes out to you, you shooook my soul! keep it up!

  • my heart goes out to you girl! you just reached my soul!! talent leaks from every pore !

  • You do an excellent job of capturing Wilco's musical feel. Wilco makes use of static and noise into their songs and you do the same by incorporating whatever you have at your disposal to make a truly original sound. I'm a drummer and I think your use of odd percussion was very enjoyable.

  • And here I was thinking I played too many different instruments... Damn, girl! You play bloody everything from goblets to banjos... One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite bands, and you brought tears to my eyes with your rendition. Hands down, you are incredible. Consider me subscribed!

  • super cool! =]

  • Done very well!

  • This is without a doubt the most epic cover of any song I've ever seen. mad props.

  • hahaha! love the percussion in this.

  • Delightful.

  • You broke my heart the moment I heard your voice, You sing so beautifuly.

  • uhmmm..

this isn't the song i asked for!!

  • I don't say this too often on the Internet anymore, but that truly blew my mind. Nice job. I'd guess if Jeff Tweedy ever saw this, he'd love it.

  • You just made my life.

I saw Wilco in November and they were absolutely amazing.

And you completely do them justice.

  • Wow. That was really amazing.

  • I am going to say something I have never said before. That is quite simple the best cover video I have ever seen.

  • Not weird at all.....:/

  • I think you need to get some better headphones :P

  • I love this so much more than the original. And I admire how much work has gone into this video. It's amazing, and poignant, and I can't stop listening!

  • i looove this!

  • That is one of my favorite Wilco tunes...Great lyrics and lots of beutiful layers of music and sounds. You hear something new everytime.

I have to say that your interpretation was absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much for posting this..just amazing!

  • love it!

  • You are fantastic! Beautiful voice, great soul, great performance. What about your garage? :) Greatings from Hungary:)

  • wow... that was AMAZING.

  • wow this is incredible

  • THIS IS GREAT!

  • i'm sure you get this often...reading your comments...i'm correct...but, you are so very talented and created. your voice is...it has an almost sobering effect. it's very beautiful, very stunning.

  • You are such a talented musician and singer!

    Keep up the great work

I wish you all the best.

  • Spectacular! You are a crazy, marvellous human being! Can you also play a gaelic horn? Just to know... ;)

  • I am very impressed. This is a very challenging Wilco song when it comes to the layers of music in this song. All you need is the hubcap Glenn Kotche uses and you would be set!

  • i love how she uses things that are not instruments. it is creative, and sounds great!

  • Really good.

  • thin˚ i could get and mp3 of the cover...needless to say great job

  • I loved it!

    You are great!

  • you are fantastic! where've you been all my life?!

  • I'm listening to this over and over...and one of the things that's making me wonder is how you tune those glasses. Is it the amount of water? The size of the glasses? A bit of both?

  • Water. I used an eyedropper to get them close.

  • bahaha garage door PWNAGE

  • Honestly, your version is much nicer. I didn't knew till now the song. I compared it and your version is much more animated. Thank you, I love it

  • This is one of the most creative covers I've ever seen. I love how the random noises you make in your house start sounding like the noise they make in the studio, especially near the end. Good job!

  • very original cover! stunning ^^

  • This is such a fantastic cover of this song.

  • awesome.... just truly awesome

  • this is brilliant

  • Wilco is my most favorite band and I'm sure you did them proud with this cover. AMAZING!

I just discovered you and Nataly and Pomplamoose all in the same day. It was like finding GOLD.

  • Yes. YES. Excellent stuff! Jay Bennett would be proud.

What's your editting program, and how many tracks did you use?

  • Hey thanks! I used iMovie and Garageband for this, and I used too many tracks to count. My computer was just itching to crash.

  • That.. That... That was incredible!

  • Do you do original stuff? lets collaborate!

  • I find that I only log on to YouTube to watch video song artists anymore. I got the greatest "kick" out of this one.

  • First of all, the kicking of the garage door cracks me up. Because it's just ridiculous looking, but the sound is good. And second, the way you use things as instruments that aren't intended to be instruments is beautiful. It reminds me of the concept of hearing music in what others disregard as racket. in SF I hear music of the city all the time, and I always wonder if people here it. So I love things like this, because you're showing other people where to find it.

  • @ChannelCassie Lol the garage thing gets me too. XD

  • There are too many non-instruments in this video for me to like! I suppose it's a tie between the crystal glass and the garage door (at least it looks like it). Excellent work =)

  • cool! :)

  • awesome!

  • this is SO COOL!

  • Holy fuck, you did a really good job. Love your voice!

  • great

    awesome

    great

    !

  • you may break that garage door...

    fuckin awesome though

    good job

  • She kicks a lot harder than Lars Ulrich. Search for Metallica's cover of Whiskey in the Jar and you'll see what I mean.

  • Please stop, you`re about to succeed.

  • LaurenOC: You don't know me, but a long time ago I used to be a musician myself, and I can tell you that this recording/performance of yours is truly inspirational. How intelligent and talented you are! This is shockingly good. I have great hope for your future work. Let's see how much better you can get at music, shall we?
