I want to go here soooo badly. I'm definately doing early decision...how smart do you have to be to get in here. I get mostly A's and B's and i'm in all honors courses right now...of course i'm only in 9th grade though...

monkey112sm:excellent! you are on the right track! but what what rice concentrates mainly on is uniqueness and on-hands expiriances. take moi, for example. i love video making. for my stand-out, i make projects to represent my middle school in district gtherings, my grades are rated upon the highest in the schools, i'm very good friends with the staff, i always get chosen and i'm not afraid to speak up. if you have your own unique thing and stand out, and have your qualities, you've go ti made!

continuing...it's good that you have a brother there because rice likes to have family connections. you already have a plus. just out of curiosity, what did your brother major and what do you plan to major?

also, it might be a good idea to apply directly to rice. very few transfers get admited to rice, and if they do they have to have extreme high marks. what was you SAT scores? they mainly look at that , but make sure to write a good essay. (continuing in next comment...)

My GPA in High School that I will graduate with this year may not be very typical in their standard. But when I go to a SUNY College, I will work super hard to try to get my GPA to at least a 3.6 or over. Their minimum GPA transfer requirement is at least a 3.20. But if I did well on my SAT in High School, but not a slight GPA for them to accept, will I still get in as a transfer student with a good college effort and a family connection? (I hope I can). I'd be happy if I at least get accepted.

like i said, it matters on who you are. my teacher, for example. she graduted from HARVARD, and she had a GPA of 1.5! (TELL ME ABOUT IT. MY JAW NEARLY DROPEED TO THE FLOOR)the main reasons why she got in, said the the Student Administrator that she talked to, was because she had ALOT of activivties, got a high score, good reviews,and had done alot in a short period. do well on your grades, but focus mainly on who you are and what you can do to make rice btter. rice likes different. good luck!

HARUMPH! not my sister. MY TEACHER! my sister is above perfect--she has a 4.3 GPA. but, anyway, my teacher, was ofcourse, A TEACHER, so she had done alot of trainig in that field. she had become and SAT Duke TIP teacher (she taught me) and i don't know much about the graduate school and what she did next, but let me go with my common sense: i think that if you graduated from harvard, you would probably get into a pretty good graduate school!

(i'm so clumsy) so let me re-do this. it mgiht be a good idea to average out your scroes. i'm in middle school and i get report cards, what do you get? talk to a teacher about finiding your overall grade-point average. what are your strong points? you gotta ask yourself these questions. continuing...(last part) you can get very good scholarships. get active! that's the idea. make a good impression on your teachers, build a realtionship, and do something that stands out. my sister was too smart for her own good, and that's what got so many good teacher reports. she also involved hereself in many scholarsip activities, you might want to d othat too. i already took my sat, i'm good at video making (check out this account) and i have good connetions. jecy try your hardest!

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT ALMOST PERFECT HERE, SO I BELIVE IT'S 3.9, 4.0. 4.0 AT THE MOST. (oops, caps) my sister had a 4.1 average...and that's how she got into rice...not including the 52 high school credits---(or gollage hours? :3 me not so good at this--i'm only 13!)
