  • When I first watched this, I thought Bakula was an imaginary guy. Sort of how everyone has always blamed the latest series for ruining the franchise, I thought Bakula was from a distant future series. Then I realized he was from Enterprise, and it's just the same old Enterprise sucks routine. Then I watched Enterprise, and it's really fucking good. WE killed Star Trek by not supporting a good series.

  • Why is Sulu in the NX-01 Enterprise and Archer in TOS's Enterprise?

  • @ImACuteGeek

I do not recall any episodes featuring a Holodeck from the Original Series. By your logic, the original series was not favorable, which is quite illogical.

  • The two of them are in the wrong "Enterprise." :(

  • omg that was awesome!!!

  • Enterprise was my favorite series in the franchise.

  • @RichardTaylor1800 Better than the original? For shame!!!!

  • @spacecowboy5000 Well, in context the original was the best, obviously. Broke a lot of new ground and whatnot. But Enterprise was a genuinely good drama, better than any other show that was on at the time.

  • Eh Enterprise was ok after season 3, it's last season. It was season 2 that really killed it. I think we can all agree that Season 2 didn't have a lot of good episodes, same said for Season 1 . . . and Season 3 pretty much. Thank goodness for Season 4! But they couldn't save it, the damage had been done.

  • @Accisma ye, i agree wiv the last 1, ur a total nerd, unlike me... besides my pon farrs comin up in a few weeks so def. gettin laid :P

  • I think Quantum Leap compensates for what Enterprise did to Star Trek.

  • i think for the series with the xindi and the super weapon i think the writers were trying to deal with what happened before kirk. when they did have threats that could destroy virtully all of humanity and earth because archer is beforekirk so they are making contact with klingons and andorians. also in enterprise they were getting stuff sorted out for kirk so in a way it fits in.

  • I think they have their Enterprises switched...

  • I thought Enterprise had a long running problem that if they had the plot line of a super weapon that was going to destroy earth you new it wasn't going to happen. Oh yeah that was a plot line.

  • @Battle5tarRJC KNEW

  • @J5MARLON Sorry, sorry, sorry. I hate it when people miss-spell in comments as well. However aren't we all guilty of a little typing error?

  • @Battle5tarRJC

    npeo im prfetc

  • @Battle5tarRJC

I loved every season and in fact it was and still is the only time startrek was ever worth watching. I even have the entire series. First edition and I had to fight to get them

  • I thought Enterprise was cool.

  • @Dweltpanic From a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give Enterprise a 5 1/2.

#1: It was a prequel. Any prequel will have to try twice as hard to win over the die-hard fans because every fan has an opinion of how a fictional universe actually began if the show doesn't establish it from the get-go. I didn't think they tried hard enough.

#2: No holodeck. In my opinion, the holodeck was one of the most memorable pieces of Star Trek. Without it, it's not the same.

    (Continued with #3)

  • @ImACuteGeek #3: The vulcans were dicks. The vulcans are supposed to be cool-headed and logical. The vulcans in Enterprise just looked like they were trying to hold the humans back. Spock and Tuvok weren't that annoying.

#4: Captain Archer kept feeding Porthos cheese. Dairy unsets a dog's stomach. Clearly the writers didn't check into that.

And #5: It followed Voyager. Voyager was my first Star Trek. Anything after that series, I will be very harsh on.

  • @ImACuteGeek He knew the cheese gave him gas, its part of what humanized him...He couldn't say no when the dog begged for cheese.

  • no, but bakula's acting didn't help. i remember sam beckett and i think he would have made a good captain.

  • Can someone explain the history of this joke please?

perhaps in 3 sentences or less.....

  • @ItalianBandit bakula played the captain of the enterprise in the latest star trek series "enterprise". many people didn't like it and it got axed from TV. i personally liked it at first, but then the writers took it on some stupid long plot line that served no purpose and didn't even correlate with the other series.

  • @adamdanielperry cool, thanks.

  • The problem with Enterprise is that the first two seasons lacked a real binding narrative. The Temporal Cold War was mishandled (ie, it randomly popped up two or three times a season), and the Suliban weren't a very interesting villain.

Season 3 did give the show a stronger narrative and a good villain in the Xindi, while Season 4's mini-arcs worked much better than the disconnected standalone episodes in the first two seasons.

  • Bakula was capt archer on enterprise. One of the lower rated and fan despised shows. So thats the joke. Enterprise killed any hopes of more network shows.

  • Well the movie was alright but compared to everything else except the motion picture....its more like star wars

  • Bakula hasnt killed it JJ Abrams did.

  • @FalconWings9 Are u kidding, the newest Star Trek movie was awesome.

  • @FalconWings9

Dude, the Abrams film wasn't that bad. I'll say now that my favorite Star Trek film is Wrath of Kahn because of its story and character building just so you don't think I don't understand Trek or that I just like explosions. The fact is, despite it not being just like classic trek, the film was OK and the story wasn't that bad.

All the actors managed to play their parts pretty well, especially the guy who played Bones, and the action scenes were better than most others from trek.

  • Behold, the opinion of most Star Trek fans.

  • Not much of a Trek fan, but I got the joke. Pretty damn funny.----Theorizing that one could time travel within his life time, Dr Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator... and vanished!

  • People commenting on this video sure do have strong opinons xD

I think TOS is by far the best.

    TNG comes next.

    Voyager here.

Enterprise makes me want to light myself on fire Dx

  • at least bakula is more masculine

  • This was by far the funniest joke in the whole movie.

  • What episode was this?

  • It's not Bacula's fault the writing sucked. And then when the show started to get good it was too little too late.

  • Hey, if star trek could recover from Star Trek V The Final Frontier, then I'm pretty sure the franchise can recover from Star Trek Enterprise.

  • @madeleinethegreat lets hope that i really really hope it star trek V was bad but atleast i have it on dvd but enterprise is something im never going to own thats how bad it is i even own the first star trek movie

  • @kallemick I really don't get the hate for Enterprise some folks have, the first 2 series weren't the best shows ever but they were watchable enough, the third series... ok that was pretty damn bad but the fourth series I loved.

Even series 3 of Enterprise was a million miles better than Star Trek V though.

  • @locutus9956 i just found the show really boring and uniteresting and then i remember something with emotional vulcans and klingons that were escaping from something instead of fighting which dosent make any sense to me

  • @kallemick I really liked it because it started to get better later on, but i guess the only that made me watch through the start was t'pol :| haha

  • @Arkanni problably the only think i like about it is t'pol

  • Trek T.V. spin-offs can't EVEN compare with any of the Trek movies (all of which I love except for The Motion Picture).

And when you say series, just say season (it's less confusing). Enterprise was alright though; it basically fell victim to being bland & unconvincing (if it's before Kirk's time when why are they more like the TNG/DS9 shows and dont' have any of the old-fashioned technology & sound effects as opposed to all this high-tech stuff?). I will say that VOYAGER was the worst though

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 Oh don't be so picky, season/series 1 2 3 4 is not confusing at all it's pretty clear what I'm talking about. As noted I'd agree with you on 'bland' for the first 2 seasons, the third wasnt BLAND as much as it was just AWFUL. The fourth I still maintain was superb. As for unconvincing, the 'it's before Kirks time it all looks too high tech' argument is just silly imo, Kirk tech was simply due to the shows budget, REAL LIFE tech looks way more advanced now.

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 And they've mentioned in DS9 etc that that's just '23rd century design' maybe 'retro' was jus tin style then ;)

Anyway though I'd disagree on the movies vs Series thing too, the movies are great and definitely better than Enterprise and Voyager AND TOS but NOT better than TNG and DEFINITELY not better than DS9. And Star Trek V was far worse than 'TMP' (which WAS shite I'll grant you ;))

  • TOS was a cult, campy series while everything afterwards was smart, serious fiction. I would hear other teens my age back then do childish comparisons & say "Star Wars is better, Trek is boring" but truth be told, after experiencing those bland prequels & seeing how we couldn't live with either, you appreciate it as an adult.

Anyway, yes the movies are way better although the later TNG films felt like extended episodes & I like the 5th film in a campy way; "What does God want with a spaceship?"

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 Star Trek V DOES have it's moments I suppose. ("I know this ship like the back of my hand" THUMP! ;)) as opposed to the first one just being a 2 hour special effects sequence like TMP ;) As for the Star Wars comparison for me there just isnt any comparison, Star Trek is sci fi, Star Wars is and always has been fantasy, it just happens to be set in space and have lasers in it ;) Personally I love both of them but trying to compare the two is not really possible imo

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 As for the TNG movies... yeah I agree there, more long episodes than proper movies sadly so I tend to just count them as part of TNG rather than 'the Trek Movies' (which are basically 1-6 in my eyes). Well with the exception of First Contact which felt like a proper movie, and a superb one at that. Generations was decent enough as a handover between the two shows but couldve been better, and Insurrection was bascially an epsiode TNG had pretty much already done.

  • @WatchMyAwesomeVideo2 Nemesis though... don't get me started, Nemesis could have been so awesome but was just such a waste. I'd been hoping for a full on 'Romulans' movie for years, movie budgeted space battles with lots of Warbirds flying around, lots of intrigue and backstabbing with the Talshiar... instead we got what was basically a poor attempt to reuse the ending from The Wrath of Khan, an truly AWFUL villain, and just... gah. Me no likey Nemesis ;) Still better than most of Voyager ;)

  • Once again, ANYTHING is better than Voyager but while Nemesis is nowhere near a classic film, it's far from a complete disappointment.

The action was overall the star of the show but unfortunately that betrays the premise of Trek since it's always been an intelligent version of Star Wars, not a fun space opera with various themes.

Yet the reboot managed to mimic Star Wars and succeed in that vein. Strange how that happened; overall it was bland & I liked the Kahn references but not a classic

  • Alternate take: Way to kill the franchise, Chris Pine!!!

  • @MasterAccount Way to SAVE the franchise, Chris Pine!

  • @MasterAccount I love Star Trek both 'old' and the 'new' reboot, don't kid yourself though the franchise was as good as dead before the reboot. Enterprise started the job (sadly, I actually liked it personally) and Nemesis was the final nail in the coffin (and sorry, but Nemesis was poo)

  • @MasterAccount

Better take: Way to kill the franchise, UPN!!!

  • @Accisma lol that did occur to me as well.

  • @Accisma why would they use the enterprise c when it was only in like one episode which a lot of people wouldnt have even seen? its obviously the enterprise D

  • I don't understand, are they being in the wrong ships apart of the joke?

  • @Piccolo49 Actually, I think I may be one of the few people to have actually figured it out.

Takei is in the NX-01 because he was a cast member of the original Star Trek series which, obviously, was the first Star Trek TV series. The Enterprise series was set before that yet, in reality, was the second Star Trek show.

So, it all boils down to this: the NX-01 represents Takei and the original series being first while Bakula in the NCC-1702 represents Enterprise coming after that.

  • i've allllways wanted to say that to him.

  • I liked Enterprise. It was...different.

  • Oh my

  • But... but they had faith of the heart, and no one ever "gunna" bend or break them.

  • @BubbleGumNipples

    *shudders*

please don't sing the theme tune..

  • Enterprise was created, partially, to help fill in the continuity gaps, when in reality it simply created more. So the Ferengi board his ship and when they finally get around to kicking them off, Archer not once asks who they are or where they're from? aren't they supposed to be discovering new life and exploring? HE ASKS THEM NOTHING! and don't even get me started on the Borg episode. lol

  • Atta boy, Takie!

But...you're in the wrong ship! You shouldn't be on the NX-01...

And Bakula SURE AS HELL shouldn't be on the NCC-1701 (No bloody A, B, C, OR D...or NX!)

  • I would actually go as far to say Enterprise is my favourite of the 5 TV shows with TNG a close second and TOS 3rd. Never thought I would say that but after watching it from start to finish recently I loved it. Also have to say to George that at least Scott can act. I still think Sulu the most wooden in 5 shows and 11 movies.

    Just my opinion though.

    Cheers

  • I think he meant: "Way to kill the franchise Mulgrew!"

  • enterprise was easily the best star trek not only did it make more sence do to the way they had the ship and crew with it being more military like / nasa with the awesome uniforms and the ships being more like a battle ship or submarine, vs the odd cruise ship motiff of say next generation or voyager, but they also filled in gaps in other stories from the series, but that's not to say i didnt like the other shows picard and kirk rule and all the rest

  • @gogeta69z the uniforms sucked... i mean purple jumpsuits?? come on.

  • @agents1986 Dude... it's the FUTURE.

  • @RedDaVincy and?

  • Yeah you show em Sulu

  • you know, the enterprise tv show was accualy pretty cool. at least i liked it.

  • Enterprise is so underrated...Iwouldn't go so far as to say it was the best, but it was an excellent show

  • @GrandFunker

You're insane...just so you know. Horrid, horrid show.

  • @Myene1983 that's your opinon.

  • @GrandFunker

ahahahahahahhahahahahahaha, it destroyed the series so hard I'm amazed that anyone even knows what startrek is anymore. If the movie had not come out star trek would be nothing but a dream.

  • @ethicks00 I thought the first two seasons of DS9 should've done that

  • @ethicks00 No, As long as there is someone who remembers. (such as one old lady like myself) ST will never be a dream.

  • YES CAPTAIN.

  • Everyone is going to freak out but...I liked Scott Bakula in Star Trek. I thought - other than the original - Enterprise was the best one.

*duck as everyone throws things* lmao.

  • @xxmfluderxx i agree.

    ooooooohhhhh!!

  • Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

  • @quantum460 benders game

  • I think they put them on the wrong ships on purpose to annoy trekkies.

  • AHH! :D

"Way to kill the franchise Bakula"

    Yeah, you tell him Sulu!

  • Scott is commanding Enterprise-C, George is commanding Archer's Enterprise

  • Good catch! I hope someone got fired over that! ;-)

  • lol

  • it wasn't bakula's fault they fucked up enterprise. the writing was shit

  • That's totally true, but the joke is still hilarious.

  • @emuholic True, but it's still a funny joke.

  • @emuholic

    This, Bakula is awesome.

  • @emuholic

Well, Enterprise did have some gems in the rough. In a Mirror Darkly was brilliant.

  • @Bartman954 Yeah, once they got the ball rolling in Season 3, the show really started to pick up.

Too bad season 5 never happened, the Earth-Romulan War was going to start in it. Damn, that would have been awesome!

  • @ButtersStotch7000

Yeah, the Earth-Romulan war storyline would have been brilliant.

  • @emuholic Yeah Bakula is the man quantum leap was awesome.

  • @emuholic Agreed!

  • Which ep/movie is this from?

  • id guess either Benders Game or Wild Green Yonder (since those are the only 2 i havent seen and ive never seen this gag before)

  • OMG, where did that come from?

  • thats the point lol, they are on the wrong ship on purpose

oops! my finger drew the heads on the wrong ships!

  • Do the Sulu Dance

    *Dose the Time warp*

    LOL!!

  • Wait a sec.......they are on the wrong Star Trek ships. Bakula is on the NCC-1701 and Takei is on the NX-01........IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY!

  • I hope some write got fired for that.

  • Thats the joke....

  • i believe thats part of the joke.

  • Well, Scott did command a Consitution class ship in A Mirror Darkly Pt II.

  • @ThePhantom359 wow ur right.

  • @ThePhantom359 thats the joke

  • @ThePhantom359 THANK YOU!

  • @ThePhantom359 bakulas on the enterprise D, picards ship and takei is on the original kirks one.

  • @ThePhantom359 Yeah! Although the one Bakula is in looks a little more like the Enterprise-C. :)

  • @ThePhantom359 the did it on purpose moron

  • @ThePhantom359 Hey loser, no one FUCKING cares! get a life you loser!

  • @wafflesan1 ...Except me... yeah, switch it...

  • @wafflesan1 You're the one insulting people for no reason. Maybe YOU should get a life jackass.

  • @ThePhantom359 sadly it would be copyrighting :|

  • @ThePhantom359 Bakula may have killed the franchise but damn his name is awesome.

  • @ThePhantom359

    That's not the NCC-1701, it's the NCC-1701-C

    ...

And I just realised how nerdy I sound once I'd written it out.

  • who is bakula?

  • you phailed!

  • that does help much

  • scott bakula most people know him for quantum leap and star trek enterprise hes been in alot of movies though

  • thanks i know who that is now.

  • Scott Bakula is an actor who portrayed Capt.John Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise.

  • lol

  • Well said sulu!!

  • When I was watching it on dvd, I seriously spit my pop and burst out laughing. The guy I was watching with looks at me and says, "Let me guess...that was a Star Trek joke?"

  • lol

  • @FMPolson Well if he didn't understand it then he is an uncultured mule.

  • Way to KILL the Franchise, Bakula! LOL

  • Sulu Badass

  • I wonder if them being in the Opposite style ships they were in the series was done on purpose for comedic effect lol
