  • round on both sides high in the middle

  • I was stationed at Bangor, TRF when she 1st came to Washigton, she sure is a big mother!

  • Nice Vid...thks...

  • I wonder when they retire the Ohio if they will turn it into a museum and leave it in Lake Erie like they did the USS Cod. It is possible to do so

  • can't wait to see the US kicks ass china

  • copy that.

  • all our tax payer money wasted on these if we dont use them. therefore use them please since we paid for them.

  • @Rico8458 My cousin is a diver and radioman on on that sub (gold crew). He's out there right now on it and he was out three months before this tour. He wont even be back until about September or so. And thats only the gold crew not the blue crew. So trust me, we use it.

  • @Rico8458 we do, we cruise it around the globe, to re assure china and n korea

that its 2 football fields long and packed full of care packages...

  • Roflmao...I was on that boat,woo !

  • Why didnt they keep it an SSBN, it had Trident II's then, when it was it WAS a weapon of mass destruction in and of itself

  • A video camera on a boomer. In the control room. For the intent to broadcast!

When I was touring the Ohio, they covered up half the displays. The year before that I wasn't even allowed on the boat, even though I was in the Marine Corps.

  • Was that before or after the conversion? Well, you know us (now formerly) AFN guys know how to lay on the charm.

  • @kinsmed

they dont want its true capabilities getting out. they do that on all commissioned subs when Civilians come aboard.

  • If you used the subs on North Korea you could cause some serious damage.Take out power stations,Gov HQ,ect lol.

  • This is one of four ships converted to carry Cruise missles.154 Cruise missles per sub x 4 =616 missles. You could cause havok in any country with these subs.

  • My brother's an EM3 on the Ohio. Gold crew. I got to tour parts of the boat while it was being converted to an SSGN in Washington. I don't envy him for his sleeping arrangements in any way, but I think it'd be a pretty cool experience to live on a boomer for a few days. I hear periscope depth is a bitch in the engine room.

  • Thanks cheekster, camnlo for your service. I hear sub life is not exactly luxurious. I was supposed to go the an SSN but ended up serving on the USS TR CVN-71 aircraft carrier - a little roomier than the SSBN's :-) .

Hey is my math right - 24 Trident II D-5 SLBM's, each with 4-6 "Active" W88 warheads (not decoy duds), each warhead with a 475 kt yield for a total payload of 57 EMT (effective Megatons) per Ohio Class SSBN (excluding the converted SSGN's of course) ?!!

    Light up the sky.

  • I was stationed on the USS Nevada SSBN 733 (Gold) when Capt Hale was the XO.

  • my old Boat, SSBN days Gold crew

  • Wow!! I can't believe the "O-hydro" is still in one piece! I thought I'd be shaving with it by now..LOL Former 728G

  • Yeah I suppose that would be more correct wouldn't it.

  • The way the Russians are behaving lately we need to pull the tomahawks out and put the icbms back in the ohio's tubes.

  • hooyah OHIO!! always first!

  • good job, man!:)
