@PickleThatOnion I dont know if dropping stick is good, but having a looser grip allows a drummer to play more relaxed and easier at faster tempos. Drummers need to know how to react when they drop a stick as well.

Well its just an opinion statement but my definition of amazing is someone who uses groove dynamics and is creative with rudiments around the kit and in different accented patterns like Aaron Spear, Thomas McCree, Benny Greb, John Blackwell, Tony Royster, Pridgon, and so on. I think Cobus is a great solid rock drummer, but rock doens't amaze me like a solo from Benny Greb or Carter Beauford.
