Ugh, shia labeouf shouldn't have been in this movie. Or, at least not as Stanley. Stanley was fat. It was a major characteristic of his. Hell, the reason he was named Caveman was because he was so huge.

They couldn't have made a fat kid lose all that weight - couldn't have timed it perfectly with the shooting either, especially since the movie was - as all movies are - shot out of order. It would have been nearly impossible to get an actor the right size and then have him slim down, so they just got a good actor instead.

@RosaLui If they could change Eddie Murphy's fat in The Nutty Professor, they could change Stanley's weight in this movie. It's simple, just use a fat suit. Get someone somewhat fat and then put a little padding on him. Take it off later in the movie.

And before you mention the heat in the desert, I would like to point out that the guy who played C3PO in Star Wars stuck it out, and his suit had a tendency to start melting in the middle of a shoot.

I don't really have an issue with Shia Labeouf's acting as much as his casting. He always seems to stick out like a sore thumb in every movie he's in.

In this one, his acting was fine, but again, why not just use a fat kid? Give him a little padding and then remove it for later on in the movie. They didn't have to dodge the issue entirely by casting a stick figure to play Stanley.

He gets cast in really stupid roles, and while he's rarely BAD, he's never good either.. He was okay in Transformers (nothing spectacular, I didn't think the movie was that great), he was okay in Holes (miscast, didn't do anything with the character), and casting him as Indy's kid in Crystal Skull was really fucking stupid and he did a really bad job of that role.
