later on this truck fell apart.

This truck definitely needs some Detroit lockers in the front and rear diffs. Larger tire size will give some more clearance, maybe some rock guards around the diff cover in the front to protect it, looks like it took a nasty hit to the diff cover.

1 lockers are would be nice but 2 you need better tires with better lugs and you need to let air out!
