After watching this anime, I found out it was loosely based on a comic book from a company Top Cow. After a little research, I found out that even though Masane is totally different from the previous Witchblade bearers the anime's story is actually canon and happens in the far future from the current time in the comics. Also the WitchBlade is tied to The Darkness and other 11 artifacts that, when united, could bring about the destruction of the world.

Now I have to read every Top Cow comic :D

The only problem with Witchblade period is the lack of armor. None of it is ever really combat ready. I know one can be powerful with the Witchblade, but that's not going to matter if somone gets lucky and shoots you in your chest.

I liked XTC much better than What's up Momma. I think this song fit the mood of the series very well. it expressed how the Witchblade was a "doubleedged" sword that endowed its wielder with power and the ecstasy of killing,but it eventually would consume all it touched.A very good opening and a beautifully animated series. Top Cow made a wise choice in letting this anime be made free from the original story.
