I just read in the paper of the same situation down here in Texas.
Barack appointed to be Federal Judges those who the Republican Party leaders in Texas said they would support, and yet on the Nat'l level the GOP has held up the appointments even though the State GOP leaders have given their ok.
So now we are developing a serious shortage because of this BS in DC.
Mr. Becker is associate general counsel at the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which is most recently in the news for its close ties to Acorn.
No, it does not. I would just like to know if you and this one-term hick clown senator we're bitching and moaning when the Democrats we're doing it. I don't know about you, but I doubt he had any problems with it. I mean, he was one of them.
This guy is so full of shit I could almost smell him...The stupid ditsy fucker looks and acts like the old 80's TV detective "Columbo". All he needs is a ragged out white trench coat and higher IQ .
Seriously, people are becoming poorer because of obama's reckless fiscal and monetary policies, which are resulting in higher taxes and inflation.
Anyone with basic knowledge of economics knows that higher taxes and inflation are the main reasons why people get poorer.
The cost of living will go up and people will be forced to become more dependent and reliant on government. If you control the economy you control the people, as seen by Hitler
>This must be the change obama was preaching about
Anyone with intelligence knows Democrats lost the Massachusetts senate seat they held for about 5 DECADES because the people voted against obama.
The average annual budget deficit during President Bush's presidency was only $250.7 billion. obama's annual budget over-spending is already at least $1.4 TRILLION in 2009 and $1.6 TRILLION in 2010, for just TWO years.
Thus, you can accurately and technically say that obama is 6 times worse than President Bush.
Blah Blah Blah. He said the same thing15 different ways, golly gee!
I remember when I was a teamster and I worked will all of these incompetent guys, but because they where in the union they couldnt lose their jobs thus giving them no incentive to work hard. I work twice as hard but earned half has much, but thats a union for you, seniority over skill.
Becker is a crooked lawyer for a corrupt union. The SEIU which Becker was one of the VERY HIGHLY PAID union bosses extorted $85 million from the union members who generally make just above minimum wage! They gave that $85 million directly to Oblahblah. Basically they bought the job for the Liar/Lawyer Becker. The fix is in! How many hundreds of thousands did the crook Becker steal as a "salary'!
Yes, I too think we have the same goal. Personally, in addition to bringing down taxes we need to stop as much spending as possible (ensuring we don't just raise taxes again). We should make this country more of a business friendly environment, something unions don't like. I believe government interference only worsens problems. A smaller government would help defeat the problem. I think we need to be innovative not only with green but everywhere.
If we borrow, be smart and invest in our future like FDR did with interstates and highways. Giving jobs and futures for working families. We need to start a new green energy policy and become a nation that is first in those technologies, that will let us pay back the investments quick and with progress.
@jleamy I disagree about the path but agree on the goal. I think we should cut taxes for everyone as much as we can without taking them entirely away. Business will have more money to hire and unemployment will fall. More people will be on the payroll and therefore more taxes will be collected. More people will have more money to spend elsewhere, lifting others up as well. If we keep taxing, they put their business elsewhere or fail. Have you ever worked for a poor man?
@10sTinTh0uGhT - I think we can all agree that some DEMS and some REPS don't vote along party, nor should they. I am fine with some DEMS voting against, especially if their states warrant that kind of vote, its their job. As far as progressives and spending too much, here is what I think in a nutshell. We got ourselves into to a huge mess and we have to get ourselves out. If we need to borrow (like we at home do a times) to make a better future OK, but make it smart spending. CLEAN ENERGY, JOBS
Actually the DEMS are saying lets confirm some of the nominees the PRESIDENT put forward, but they all have been blocked by ONE REPUBLICAN SENATOR, thats right, one Senator can put on an anonymous hold on any nominee and block them all. That is what SENATOR RICHARD SHELBY of Alabama has done.
It is really not a DEM or REP issue. The whole system in Washington is broken. Both sides are being idiots and not working for the people. We should fire everyone in the senate.
@jleamy I heard that two or three Democrat senators actually voted against, and plenty of senators in general didn't even vote.
I agree with your second paragraph (almost) in its entirety, although I feel it may be for different reasons. There are probably one or two senators worth keeping, but the problem (in my opinion) is the progressives. They continue to spend while in debt, and it's completely irresponsible.
I think we have the same goal in mind, but different ways to get there. We have tried the CUTTING taxes approach for the past eight years and look where we are. I own a business and understand the tax issues, but all the small and medium business tax cuts won't add up to a large enough investment quick enough to make us the nation of green technology and build us up quick enough. I think government, at times, has to invest, to help small and med businesses grow and start anew.
What I don't like about all of this comes down to two things. Many of you commenting say that the Democrats need to go after what they want. That's not the way the system works. It is a government OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people. It is a representative government that is supposed to do what the PEOPLE want.
Second, he talks as though the Republicans are greater and therefore blocking. He should realize that if Democrats want to plow they should look within their own party.
I noticed that some people are in awe of his public speaking capabilities, but when you really examine some of his assumptions they don't really stand up to scrutiny. Just because congress has done business a certain way for several decades doesn't mean that it SHOULD be done that way. He's making a lot of assumptions in this speech. At least scrutinize what he's saying before you go singing his praises.
Labor unions which in the beginning had the best of intentions have proven themselves to do more harm than good. The labor unions crippled the motor industry in Michigan. They constantly seek to strong arm businesses into raising wages and benefits. This sounds good except the price is always passed on to the consumer. Labor unions are a special interest group in and of themselves. It may be hard for Brown to believe, but some people are tired of what labor unions are doing to industry.
Partial agreement. Bipartisanship is killing Obama, but it needs to be underlined. The lack of it indicates a political system with fatal flaws.
In half my mind, Obama is deliciously Zen, in the other half he is, as you say, a spineless twit.
Proposed solution; He continues pushing for bipartisanship, but he also regularly challenges immoral Republicans to actual death matches. Bring your own light sabers.
Just skimming through here and being someone looking from the outside (I don't live in the U.S.) I'm very thoroughly impressed with Sherrod Brown. Sharp, to the point and kept it simple to show the arrogance and cynicism of those opposing the nominee.
Glad I came across this video, will definitely keep my ears and eyes open for Mr. Brown, this man is going places.
Hey Democrats, grow a pair and quit letting the GOP strong arm your agenda. Bush & Co., didn't seem to care, why should you?
I agree, I'm SICK of harry reid's ass kissing of repignicans
All Republicans are lying pigs.
"Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming, the highest-ranking Republican on the committee that approved Becker, presented a novel argument. He noted that Becker had answered hundreds of questions that Republicans had submitted to him, and then used that fact to make the logical leap that he was a questionable nominee."
... I remember when Rush Limbaugh went after Brown's candidacy for the Senate after he thought he was black. Sherrod didn't sound white enough for a fat man named rush.
