  • Not really old school

  • absolute f*#kn radness!! wish i could skate that hard!!

  • tool!

  • seriously, kudos to anybody that can do that stuff on one of those big old heavy boards! sick stuff!

  • cool

  • I am shocked to see what pass for skateboarding today. When you compare it the skating board of yesterday.

  • where is the original music...??? mac rad rules ! WTF???

  • people always rip on Tony Hawk because he isn't good or some shit, but they don't understand what he did for Vertical skateboarding. Everyone now is so concerned about what they do. If you can't tre flip, kick flip, heel flip, board slid, 5-0 and ollie at least a five they call you a poser. everyone seems to forget that there was skateboarding before 1990, it's sad.

  • Muito bom o video, 5 estrelas PARABÊNS

  • Me lembro desse model de sape do tony hawk

  • Some of the best skating I've witnessed personally at parks are the old school guys that rip - its a very aggressive style that isn't afraid of lots of vert and big air.

  • fantastic video. I had a tony hawk pro model like the one featured in his video part. I remember snapping the tail clean off when I did an air off a 3 foot high launch ramp to flat.. Happy memories

  • SKATEBOARDING WAS ALL I HAD.IT'S THE SAME THING NOW IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.AS TIME ADVANCES' SO DOES THE SKATING.THEY ARE BETTER SKATERS NOW BECAUSE OF THE PAST EFFECTING THE PRESENT,TO SHAPE WHAT IS: OR WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE FUTURE.THEY DON'T WEAR PADS NOW.THEY MAKE MONEY.I GET TO SKATE.SO CAN YOU.

  • @danieljohnfleet

    THANKS FOR CAPSLOCKING

  • @danieljohnfleet i disagree with you about the skaters now being better than the skaters in the 70s

  • sick. wish i lived in that era of skateboarding so much.

  • awesome vid ! thnx

  • is that cristian hosoi and tony hawk skateboarding on that ramp that is in this video on youtube on the world wide web on my computer in my room in my house under the sea?

  • Everything is better in slowmo.

  • @geektoro That slowmo always screwed me up when I was a kid. All these skate films would be all slowed down, and I'd get used to watching skating that way. Then, I'd make it out to the skatepark, and wonder why everything was going so fast. (ok, I was a weird kid...didn't get out much)

  • massive!

  • I think these routines are so much cooler than today's. Recently watched a champion run by Shaun White and every pass is just big air and spins. No style, grinds, finger clips, cabs, etc. Looked just one of his snowboard routines. It may have been harder but for my eyes - boring. This era of vert skaters had so much more in the style points.

Definitely a golden era for vert.

  • 2.40 , i dont think Ross Powers watched this film

  • I'm 48y and i skate a rob roscoff knockoff fish shape 10x31, indys, powell bowl bombers(till i get my minicubics!). I wasn't that good in '67 on clay wheels or in '77 on 70mm kryptos eg i learned to drop in last christmas, LOL , ya learned to drop in at 48y. Ya gotta love skateboarding, we are still doing it! p.s. How many old friends that usta play football/basketball/baseball still do? None of mine. Skate and Create!

  • Tony hawk had a mullet!? 1:12

  • i love Tool!

  • I love them old Bones videos!

  • Man, this video brings back some great memories. These guys, Cab, Hawk, McGill, that whole era of pros is where Skateboarding "peaked".

Those were some awesome days. I remember seeing them in person one day in Va Beach. The Bones Brigade came screeching into the parking lot in a green station wagon at Lynnhaven ramp and we all sat there with our mouths dropped open wide watching them rip the place up.

One of my best memories ever. What a great video!

  • this ramp seems located in the same place where there was the huge ramp in the end of "In Search Of Animal Chin"..

    am I wrong?

  • old school is my only school

  • I want a vert ramp :(

  • YES! old school kicks ass!!! bring it back!!

  • What size you use?

  • my aunt is 42 and she still skates powell peralta!

  • Yupp.... that's what i skate for powell peralta. Oldskool

  • they had long legs

  • so inspirational made my day! thanks bones boys!!

  • does anyone know where to buy a board just like they've got?

  • @alunamoonmusic You can get them at a vans store. I bought an old skool caballero last month.

  • good stuff right here !!!!

  • Ban This is definitely a serious peak point for the brigade. Even Tommy Guerrero has a tranny section. That and the sexy camerawork make it a must for old-school junkheads. Heyo!

  • bones brigade is sick. i think this is the part when they find the halfpipe in the miidle of nowhere

  • That was Animal Chin. This vid is Ban This

  • PURE ART

  • Some people rag tony Hawk but, he made up all the cool vert tricks I think.

  • way better then nowadays skating

  • oh ya, wheres your skate video. is it better than this? go skate or go home bitch.

  • are you talkin to me ? i find this video great as you can see! i ve added it even to my favourites ;-)

  • no, sorry my bad. I'm drunk right now.

  • Old school rulez!

  • if this is old school, not much has happen then.

  • Carlsbad pipeline!!!

  • yeaaa i agree with most ppl, this was skating. im 16 and i use a powell board and only skate pools, bowls and ramps. i think vert skating 2day is shit, for inspiration u gotta check out cab, hawk, mcgill and pretty much ne other powell skater

  • It is still unfathomable to me that vert "died" in the late 80's with people ripping the way Mike/Cab/Tony where in this video. And there were MANY great vert riders, not just the big names.

  • I just realized how much I love skateboarding..

  • isn't in funny how the shoes in 1:17 are back in fashion

  • What's funny, as in LAME, about many of these comments is how concerned they are about fashion (the decks) and how unconcerned they are about the ripping these Powell cats are doing. It's amazing how fucking sick that era was, and how important and advanced that skating was in laying the groundwork for tricks today. Even those tricks, that style, would destroy on ANY ramp today.

  • @bereal1ornone i completely agree !! my man was doin this shit back in 87.... ive got so many pics... wish i had video like this ! same style board too !

  • @bereal1ornone Skateboarding now is all about fashion. Pulling off really sick moves isn't nearly as imporantant as finding the right pair of Nike SBs. Its really sad what skateboarding has come too.

  • i dont think there was any such thing as switch in the old days

  • yeah there was. i was there.

  • the TOOL goes Really well with the Original footage!!!..

  • No.

  • Tool - disposition.

    great song.

    great album.

    great band.

  • The fucking start made me dizzy!

  • This is such a unique segment... love it

  • love that slo mo!

  • fucking amazing video

  • i have a old school powell

  • fucking great song..

  • wow play the song drain you by Nirvana over this video..it works really well

  • hahah if only he missed that 0:49

  • tony hawk is in this i love the old board shapes but cant find them with cool graphics

  • Not sure if your idea of "cool" is the same as mine, but if you want oldschool shapes with cool graphics you should check out Santa Cruz's "Dust to Dust" series. Sometimes Black Label and Creature put out oldschool shapes with pretty gnarly graphics, too.

  • love this song, cool skating too

  • man look at those airwalks! now they sell those at payless...sad.

  • they use to be a great company but got "cheap"

  • Skateboards back then were so much cooler then they are now. Today, they all look the same. Back then, boards had style and personality. Now they are just popsicle sticks.

  • So true, back in the day I could tell a pro model by its shape..The HammerHead or Neil Blender's..Even the graphics now are so corporate..Look at Almost boards...all the same with the pro's name at the bottom...Miss the good ol' days

  • yeah its pretty lame, i just got this old school powell deck and its much better than any other modern board i've ridden

  • I agree oldschool boards are a hell of alot better for most stuff then newschool boards. Modern boards sacrifice stability, speed, and uniqueness for flip-ability. Its good to see someone other than me who skates enjoys oldschool decks and Death Metal.

  • Oh my DAYS...tony hawk on a Claw board Caballero on a Full Dragon and McGill on a skull and snake....THE SKATEBOARD GOLDEN AGE!!!!!! wow, them times were Priceless...Powell Peralta 4 ever!

  • the skate board is too vintage

    cool!

  • fiks is a tool !!! these are classis old skool skaters

  • 1:13 looks like da birdman

  • .... it is.....

  • fiksifakser, you die fast, you dirty gay motherfucker... Thos PP boards rock and skating back then was so much better, no stupid wannabe's but just shredding and having fun... stupid fucking asshole

  • fiksifakser,

"omg.. those boards are so ugly.. it looks as someone didn't have enough money to buy a board from somewhere else than a toy store? hah.. its helarious"

...you're a poser! this footage is sacred, man.

  • You couldn't handle an oldschool skate, popsicle decks are for spoiled tight panted emo pussies who couldn't muscle a 10x31" single kick spoon nose on vert...Go kick flip in front of the mall son,& leave the real skating to the men...

  • yeah man i ride 10 inch or nothing and im sick of people telling me to get a "real" board las person who said that to me got hid in the head with ten inches of wood needless to say his 7 inch board didnt save him

  • I ment that reply for fiksifakser by the way,put it in the wrong fucking place, apologies to boogiewoogie613...

  • No worries. Shred for Life!

  • 2:40 is the sickest bs air ever!

  • Old School (H)... that's right!

  • yeah feeling,,

  • Amazing... I love that old skateboards.

  • This is a section from "ban this" which some fool decided to dub over the original music

  • Rene the first skater IS Tony Hawk. Followed by Cab and Mcgill.

  • Royfokker's right. This is the bones brigade (Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill) at McGill's skate park. I don't know why Roy's getting thumbs down for being accurate...

  • Heh who knows maybe they don't believe it. It is however, Hawk, Cab, McGill.

  • these were the idols of tony hawk

  • this is a killer video bro

  • the flip at 55 sec was sickkkkk!!

  • stfu dude sk8boarding is a god and you dont go disrepecting it ok u got it hollymade or what eve your name is

  • sorry that was my kid brother, leaving dumb comments on my account. gotta remember to log out next time....
