@PhilipStephens007 I Cant be 100% sure, but I believe it was DAP brand "alex" painters caulk white tube with a black band on the top and had ALEX printed on the side in a teal/blue color
using yarn was my mothers idea about 14 years ago when I had first started making terrain. using the latex caulk idea i had a few years ago, ( after using super glue for a LONG time to toughen up the yarn.) The caulk originaly came about as a way to keep the trees flexible so I could bend them out of the way if a tall unit or monsterous creature went walking through the woods.
i added in a little bit of glue think its was locktite brand "power grab" was a really thick white glue, mixed it probably about 80% caulk 20% glue then watered it down to about the consistancy of those cheap craft paints. now that i think of it its a lot like your goop type recipe without the plaster.
Yes, the glue/caulk mix is good, versatile, tough stuff. I add the filler portion (plaster, sand, sawdust) somewhat for strength and just to give texture and so you can fill up cracks and voids better.
good texturing idea. What kind of caulking glue did you use?

That is powerfully good - makes me want to touch it. There's a quality of reality more intense than a real tree! Super work, IB :) ... Molly

Excellent.
Did you just thin the caulking with water or did you add white glue in with the mix too?
A very nice effect.
