Yeah, they may not have really gotten a full out of body experience. This looks like an old PS2 game quality graphics though. Can you imagine being immersed completely into a Modern Warfare 2 or Mass Effect graphical environment? I don't think gender played any role in this. The man's heart rate increased because when he first felt the stroking of his arm whilst be stroked virtually, it would be easy to believe that if he was getting slapped virtually it would also happen in reality. Also it's quite easy to switch roles in virtual space. I can easily change my gender/age online just by changing the way I communicate and interact with other virtual people.
