  • 4:04 Brilliant!

  • Yeah...no. Same shit happens to guys too. /dealwithit.

Longer version (slightly): Men are objectified as well in advertising. We have our own "models" to be compared to and ideal body images as well. Also a larger portion of spousal abuse is towards the men, you just don't hear about it. Same thing here.

  • Saying that they could just as easily feature men in these ads is true, and yet they rarely do. If it was one ad you could say it wasn't sexist, but when its a systematic pattern of dehumanizing women in greater ways than men in advertising, we can call it sexism.

  • All of the old ads shown make a point of devaluing women but some of the newer ones just happen to feature a woman and could just as easily feature a man. But because they chose one of two genders, they are labeled "sexist." Also, this video inserts its own context into many of them. Some of them are legitimately sexist...maybe half.

  • oh please... this is stupid! just fucking stupid!

  • Great vid, and hurrah for Seether :-)

  • I LOVE those steven Miesel vogue shots of women in surgery--GENIUS shoot. I also want to argue that half the people who think the modern ads are sexist are probably overweight and unattractive.

  • We do not live in a post sexist society. The video makes a point, but at the same time some of these are arranged in a manipulative order to provoke intense emotions from the viewer. The one of Miley Cyrus is irrelevant in this video to me. She wanted a mature shoot because Disney wanted her to be innocent and underage forever. This is a nice video, but I can feel the grandiose resentment seething through, which is distraction from the video's true message.

  • 5:56

  • the hell is with 3:26 ?

  • @Blackrosereaper see the dog is a symbol for the opre.... no I'm joking I have no idea.

  • @Blackrosereaper welcome to the UK man.

  • sex sales. unfortunately that's how it works. As for the super thin models, its what their profesion calls for as sad as that is. when sex stops saling then it will stop being used in advertisement. its as simple as that.

  • explain feminism then?

  • @TheDONJDCsQueen112 Chivalry- A 500 year old code of social behavior. Men fight for, defend, provide to women. Women are obedient, submissive to men. Gender specific sacrifices and privileges.

Equality- Men and women have equal sacrifices and privileges. Both genders fight and die in wars and workplace environments. Pay in relationships, BOTH.

FEMINISM- Women want the privileges of chivalry, the privileges of equality and the sacrifices of neither. Greedy, selfish, manipulation plain and simple.

  • Feminism is the idea that we can make both genders equal by focusing on the problems of only one of them.

    -Theamazingatheist

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - The fact AA can't get laid because he is a foul mouthed creep is not a societal problem that is his problem.

  • @Mccudden25 So basically, when men are discriminated against it doesn't matter. But when women are discriminated against it does.

    Fucking double standard.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - What are you talking about? Just because I think AA is a bitter resentful asshole doesn't mean I agree with discrimination of any kind. I simply don't like him and the way he expresses himself, he's an attention whore.

  • @Mccudden25 He doesn't whore attention. He's cool he just makes videos.

Plus that quote is true, let's pretend someone else made the quote. The quote is still true.

  • I'm a woman who is proud of my sexuality. Some of these images I find demeaning, but a large majority are not sexist at all. I must ask, in denying a woman her own sexuality, aren't YOU the sexist in all this? A lot of these are not real and designed specifically to be offensive. Also, why is it that any insinuation of fellatio is deemed sexist? I see nothing disrespectful about a woman giving oral sex to a man, just as there is nothing disrespectful about the opposite. Some people confound me.

  • @mollyaldrich - So where are the ads of men eating muff? I haven't seen any? It's something left to the bedroom between two people who are intimate...NOT a freakin billboard where it is being used to degrade women. Oral sex especially when the woman is on her knees is the epitomy of sexism and power especially used in that context.

  • @Mccudden25 Men receive 40% less prison time than women for the same crimes.

Men receive less reproductive rights and women win custody battles more often.

There are body building ads with shirtless men.

Face it, there's inequalities between both genders. You need to quit focusing on women, plus you're saying these women getting paid millions of dollars is exploitation? You're clearly ignorant. Why not ask one of these women how they feel to be 'exploited' then look at their bank.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - Really so women have a 40% increased prison time? Who knew.

No men have 100% reproductive rights, women don't steal their sperm they freely give it.

Shirtless men, fine...women in positions of gang rape, used as foot stools, giving head, or with rashes on their knees is not. You're clearly ignorant, what these ads do is create a false representation of women and teach young boys and men that is all women are good for. Wake up to yourself.

  • @Mccudden25 Fuck typo. No, actually sorry for the typo. Women receive 40% less prison time than men. Sorry for the typo. Why do women receive 40% less prison time than men for the same crimes? Also, how come shirtless men don't do the same. You can't focus only on the problems of one gender. So lets see.

Women receive less prison time than men.

    Women receive more reproductive rights.

    Women receive more custodial rights.

But yet you claim women are discriminated against?

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - No I didn't say just women are being discriminated against...that was you.

I was focusing on the clip and replying to your comments about it. You advocate violence against women and their sexual exploitation.

How do men not have 100% reproductive rights?

  • @Mccudden25 If a woman does not choose to get an abortion a man can be stuck with the burdon of a child. My father left me and my mom right after I was born, luckily he got out of child support payments, and rightfully so, even though we lived poor he still didn't want a kid. My mom did!

Once again pointing this out, you just said young boys were impressionable and stupid.

"Just as it's not acceptable to teach young boys they're all stupid"

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - I think I have argued with you before because I remember that line about the father leaving. Look EMO kid, go and see a counsellor seek help and don't blame your mum for having the integrity to see through what your weak piece of shit father didn't.

  • @Mccudden25 I'm emo because I think that my mom should of been smarter? Look, both women and men have inequalities. You need to accept that. You can't just focus on the problems of women and men will magically become equal. BOTH MEN AND WOMEN HAVE GENDER INEQUALITIES WHY DON'T YOU GOD DAMN UNDERSTAND THAT.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - Well go and slit your wrists then and do her a favour.

  • @Mccudden25 So you have now come to a conclusion that I'm emo? Fuck this I'm going to go play battlefield 3 and watch porn.

  • @mollyaldrich Women want rights of sexual choice protected, the right to decide if she has sex with or becomes the wife of a man or not. Correct? Not to be taken sexually (raped) or sold as a wife. Yet at the same time many women want to flaunt their sexuality in the faces of men (power) and expect there to be no consequences.

Who enforces these "rights" dear? A tiny police force empowering a weak legal system. The respect men have for women protects them. Women are rapidly losing that respect.

  • De-valuation of women is de-valuation of life, perpetuated by everyone. Capitalism as the current money system is unacceptable, as it is clearly ushering us all to our extinction. Equal Money for All is the ONLY solution to stop abuse. Research it and support.

  • Misogyny is not about men hating women. It is about us making 'objects' of the forms of Life we have separated ourselves from, within and as defining these life-forms as things, things that are not worthy or valued as Life, so that we can justify the abuse, degradation and devaluation that we expose life to in our delusional way of asserting ourselves as gods, as the judges over life and death. This is who and what we as humanity have become.

  • @annabrixthomsen Yet a man in these ad's is fine. Plus these women getting paid is also exploitation.

    D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DOUBLE STANDARD

  • @Guthixpwnsyou It is exactly the same for men as my comment also suggest - so suggest to check your own assumptions and per-concieved ideas. There is virtually no form of life that is not being exploited in one way or another and that is the real matter here that should concern us and make us ask critical questions to what it is we are actually doing to and on this planet - not who is exploited more as a competitionbetween men and women or other useless polarized conflicts.

  • @annabrixthomsen Nobody in these ads are being exploited. They got paid didn't they? That's not exploitation that's called offering a service and receiving payment.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou This is the kind of deceptive logic that justifies abuse and exploitation in child-labor and slavery.

  • @annabrixthomsen Child labor and slavery are acts of force. Nobody in these advertisements was forced to do them. You can't confuse one thing with another.

Slavery is being forced into labor without pay.

Child-labor is many children forced into labor by their parents for meager pay.

    Those are exploitation.

    These are not exploitation:

women and men getting paid thousands of dollars to let someone take a picture of them.

    Women modeling.

    Men modeling.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou No one in this world are free to choose the life they want. Money determines everything and then we have to fight each other and even ourselves in order to survive and get a-head in the competition for success and more money.

  • @annabrixthomsen There are certain freedoms you have. I was born with very little money but I beg to differ. Besides, the world will turn into a utopia the moment all the religious idiots die out. Then we'll all have equal opportunity.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou The world does not suddenly change by itself. If we want change, we gotta be willing to change ourselves.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - I wonder if you think these women will look back at these ads and kick themselves when they have little girls of their own.

There are better ways to get a message across without teaching people treating women like a sex slave is ok. Just as it's not acceptable to teach young boys they're all stupid as one American pointed out about US advertising.

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - Show me ads where a man is about to be gang raped and I will say the same thing.

We all know they're getting paid you twit, the fact is how low people go now for a buck. These women and companies are teaching young girls it's glamorous to be raped and young boys that it's ok to rape or use a woman like a door mat or foot stool. Disgusting.

  • @Mccudden25 Show me ads where a woman is about to be gang raped. What about men being used. You act like there are no advertisements or depictions in which men are depicted as macho and having to beat up other people. You don't think those wont teach young kids that beating up people is okay because you're a man?

The damned point is, I don't think that any of those things will teach any gender what's 'okay' and what's not okay.

Also, you discriminate you just called young boys dumb

  • @Guthixpwnsyou - Oh wow you are a bit slow aren't you. I am sorry but I am not going to continue debating with a 12 year old. Learn some comprehension then come back and join the big peoples debates.

  • @Mccudden25 You discriminate against men, you act like men have no inequalities. You suck, you just called men stupid you just said that all women in advertising are being exploited but men in advertising arent. Your level is bias and sexism towards men is incomprehensible.

  • @Mccudden25 what ads are you looking at? You cant just infer that because there a group of guys and one girl that a gang rape is about to go down. That is ridiculous. The only people who think that way are those who are over sensitive to sexism and trying to find it any where they can. I have never seen an ad and thought, "yeah a sweet gang rape is about to go down, cool!!!"

  • @StewBrewWho2 - The ad where there are seveal men standing around watching another man hold down a woman who appears as though she is struggling. What you personally perceive from that is irrelevant, the proof is in the pudding.

  • @Mccudden25 Couldn't I say the same exact thing about your perception of the ad? Is your interpretation not also a "personal perception"?

  • @StewBrewWho2 - No because most sane, intelligent people see it for what it is which is why there was a major uproar about that particular ad, it was then removed from billboards. You may find rape an entertaining way to sell products in clear view of children but I don't and apparently neither do most people.

  • @annabrixthomsen But, I keep seeing lots of wieght loss images and images of superthin models. What does this have to do with sexism?

  • @akawhippy People are trying to force themselves into picture-perfect images of what a "real man" or a "real woman" is - pictures that no one can live up to, because it is an unrealistic body shape and form we are supposed to look like (aka barbie). So it is sexism not from the perspective of "men against women", but from the perspective of us against ourselves, believing that only by abusing and starving ourselves can we become "perfect" - completely disregarding ourselves as life.

  • @annabrixthomsen So is that why eating disorders are considered abuse--- emotional abuse. Because if it were men agaisnt us women, then how come both sexes surprisingly suffer from eating disorders? Is it because we believe that that's what the opposite sex expects. As if men are supposed to look like greek god-like sculptures and us women like barbies?

  • @akawhippy Exactly. From this perspective we can start seeing that it is really everyone against themselves and everyone against each other. We do not have to live this way but we have created a system where competing to survive is the only way to exist. There is another way: Investigate an Equal Money System.

  • i believe that some of the images here are jokes/satire/etc., intentionally ridiculous. I also must question the implied idea that using female sexuality to entice or sell is sexist. It does not inherantly cheapen women, that comes from certain conservative ideas our culture has. The fact that there is a dissproportionate amount of display of women as compared to men could deserve mention, but that's probably because men are more prone to be influenced by that on a very physical level.

  • @waldoman7 No, theyre not. Men don't typically respond to those stimulations until they are trained by the media to. Notice how the boys who aren't into popular culture also aren't into "the hot chick". Like my friend Ken, he once siad he doesnt' get models whose boobs are "too big".

It's an excuse for some peope to sexualize others.

  • @Mirani2

In no point in my life would I ever have dated the stereotypical bimbo model, but that doesn't mean they didn't turn me on. No matter how repulsed my higher mind might be, the lower brain has its chemical reactions. I of course can't speak for all men, but in my experiance this seems fairly universal.

  • Very powerful message, and I do agree that media can be extremely sexist. Men refuse to believe it, but it really is true. We're living in a patriarchy, and I hope we can soon get out of it.

    Peace~

  • @SmartGirl134579

men refuse to believe it? I have quite the opposite problem. I find that women are too fully taken in by our sexist culture, at least in my area. It makes it painfully hard to find a woman with some confidence. It makes finding an equal a daunting task

  • One small error in this video - the ad that shows a woman in a blowjob position, with a cigarette where the man's genitalia would be, is actually an anti-smoking ad...it says "to smoke is to be the slave of tobacco". This message highlights the problems of being dominated by an addiction by creating a parallel to being dominated by a person. It's not sexist. It's more anti-sexist.

Also, it's wrong to ignore the negative effects of sexism on men....this is not a female-only issue...

  • Where are the male examples?

Open any male oriented fitness and fashion magazine and you'll find impossibly fit men just as, if not more naked and exposed than the women in this video.

Sex is a part of our society and ourselves, whether you are male or female. To deny that is to deny part of who you are.

  • @ShmeeYT

So I take it you are not familiar with asexuality ?

Also, saying " What about the men?" is not really appropriate.First of all, the title of the video is " WOMEN in advertising presentation" Of course it is also an issue, but it is not comparable. These women are often portrayed as "prey", sex objects, decorations. It does happen to men, but far less, specifically the "prey "presentation.

  • i find it odd rob zombie was on this lol

  • Well this kind of advertising doesnt just change the women's perspective on themselves, but they change the men's perspective as well. Women only want to look that way to attract a man, while men are looking for women that fill the standard of beauty set by our society. This is very both sided, so its doubtful that this perspective will ever change.

  • And by the way girls, men are objectified and dehumanized in plenty of ad campaigns by numerous companies. Don't feel special.

  • @gothman100 The negative portrayal of women and the negative portrayal of men in advertising have their roots in very different places. The degradation of women in advertisements has been prevalent for over a century, what we see today stems from sexist dogma. Such is simply not the case for men.

  • Okay, some of these pictures are very scandalous and inappropriate; however, most of them are not. They show the beauty of the female form. Do you find the Venus De Milo offensive? Or the Birth of Venus degrading to women? No. Because they are forms of art. Why can't people take some of these things with a grain of salt. If there is an obvious "anti-women" message behind them then yes, be offended. Just don't go looking at every piece of art with a woman in it as smut and offensive.

  • @gothman100 Could you point out these particular images?

  • Blow in her face and she'll follow you everywhere..... LOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I'm sorry to say but, whoever retarded blowed in a girl's face probably saw her doing weird faces and saying " What the hell?!!?! I'm suffocating you idiot!"

  • Nothing wrong here. Move along.

  • Comment removed

  • John Berger once said, "Men act, women appear." This is heavily shown in magazine ads, dehumanizing the female body as an object to use in any violent way. The ads always assume a male audience; if one were to reverse the sexes, to put males in place of females, the viewer would experience utter discomfort. So the answer is NO; our society is still far from post-sexist. Don't even get me started on wage differences, domestic labor roles/assignments, stereotypes, double standards, etc.

  • @afunkysippycup Do not forget on the enforcement of clothes to wear as well as the conduct of behviour required for acceptance. Disgusting.

  • Comment removed

  • Ohhhh soooo very fucked up after they start the rock song & show what looks like beaten-up women. Who the fuck thinks of these discriminating ads? ...Men of course. ..The men that think alll women belong in the kitchen, cleaning. Fuck you men.

  • @Chucklizard43

In my 33 years on this planet, I'm pleased to say I've never, ever heard that 'in the kitchen cleaning' statement voiced aloud in anything other than a tone of mocking a wayward past. I've seen the quantity of women in higher education eclipse men, and I've seen acceptance of women in every single field I can think of (physical limitations aside, of course).

I would never say 'Fuck you women', but I'll say Fuck YOU, in particular. Your anger is misdirected.

  • @demonbourne Hey blow me ya fuckin whore bag! Suck a dick.. oh wait ur Mom does that

  • @Chucklizard43 And congratulations to you on being mentally and emotionally 11. 3 replies, each one indicating a slightly lower intelligence - I guess soon, if you're lucky, you might well learn how to wipe your own ass and not get shit on your finger.

I do hope all goes well with your Wal-Mart door greeter career. With any luck they'll get some sort of healthcare soon, and you can finally get your AIDS and downs' syndrome symptoms addressed.

What an ugly creature you are.

  • @demonbourne Blow Me cocksucker! You dont know even if i am male or female, I may work in the court system or be homeless. I am far from unintelligent. Thats just a front towards cocksuckers, (Such as yourself). as for someone with AIDS, you have offended them for no reason. Having AIDS has nothing to do with your point. Go stick your hand in a needle refuse bin motherfucker. BTW Did you think of that expression & write to me because you got shit on yOUR own hand while wiping?

  • @demonbourne ...Ya know when you leave your next distasteful opinionated message, I am not going to respond, I have better things to do than argue with DOUCHETARDS! . I will treat you JUUUUUST as your "parents" did; Offend you then neglect you! Have a happyold year

  • @demonbourne I would never fuck YOU, so ya cunt say "Fuck you, " to me! Go check your penis & make sure its still there

  • @demonbourne + , I dont give a FUCK what you say, Glad that you have made it 33 years on this planet. Go buy yourself a prize at the shop now =)

  • I've also read some comments, it's not that I hate men (my boyfriend is awesome) I just don't like people staring at me like a peice of meat. I also don't like how littel girls dress sexually when they aren't even thru puberty. They should grow up learning to value their body and not act like a dumb bimbo to get male attention. I agree with this video that the media should stop showing sexualized women as the powerful ones, everyone has talents and should be appreciated for who they are.

  • @jumper649 Well, wait a minute. Its not always guy's fault. Its our fault too as women because we always will to accept our impotence and passive manners to take over us to feel like woman. In the first place, we must stop participating in such bullshit objectifying stuff like men's magazines, plastic surgery, and beauty pageants because they tend to place most of our value in exclusively our looks ignoring who we are. Most of these women do these things to feel validated.

  • I am a female, a lot of people say I have a nice bikini body, but I don't flaunt it. I support feminism because I dress modest and still get guys staring at my butt, whistling at me, give me the "call me" hand, and one even grabbed my butt. I am not a peice of livestock. I wear baggy clothes b/c I don't like the sexual harassment. A guy talks to my friends but stares at my breast the entire time - where are the manners? Also why do girls think they must dress sexy to get men to appreciate them?

  • @jumper649 Well, I'm a girl too. And I'm the whole opposite of you. I have a nice bikini body too and I flaunt it. But you're theories tell the world that you're not interested in dating. To be honest, this might sound weird to you but, whenever I get the stares, it makes me feel valued and superior because that means I can cpature attention and keep it. Geez! You sound just like my parents.

  • Aside from the other problems with this short video, I find it funny that there are only depictions of sexism towards women in this video and no comment about sexism towards men in advertising is made here. And this will continue, because it's popular. It says something about the disparity between men and women. Feminism isn't about equality for the sexes, it's about advancing the priveledge of women. This video is an example of this fact.

  • SEARCH YOUTUBE!

"THE STORY OF FEMINISM - AS TOLD BY WOMEN"

All to confusion is cleared up quite nicely in this video with telling comments by women including brilliant comments by feminists like Gloria Steinem and Germaine Greer.

I hope it enlightens you as much as it did me, it now has over 100,000 views!

  • What a pointless waste of time. You can't refute the truth or the facts so you label me a hater? I'm literally embarrassed for you. I hardly hate women or really even feminism. How can I hate it when it doesn't specifically stand for anything, its obsolete. I pointed out the obvious contradictions and you just manipulate.

How do you explain away the obvious disadvantages of men I pointed out dear?

    Your weakness is showing.

  • @embracingreality Typical: threatened by an argument so you call me weak. Hmm. And then you attempt to humiliate and manipulate by "exposing" me as "ill informed." Well, this is my last comment here, because if there is anything I've learned from arguing with people like you, it's that it never gets far. It's like talking to a wall. All of the disadvantages can be easily explained by a patriarchal system. Enjoy living in the shallow end of the pool, that way you don't have to see how things are.

  • @marsarmyful WHAT argument? What threat? You cant refute anything I said or have even tried to! Can't you deal with the facts?

American women like you are given every advantage and quite literally put on pedestals in society and all you can do is cry about imagined oppression?

    WHERE IS IT???

  • @embracingreality When did she ever call you a hater...? You make the bad in feminism. Not the other way around.

  • @embracingreality and any other person that stumbles onto this page and has an intense hatred for feminism: I'm asking you, and in no way forcing you, to take a step back and consider your anger towards a movement whose interest lies within the improvement of the lives of the people around you, and yours. It's a dangerous form of thinking, to dismiss an ideology that was formed because of a need to change disadvantages.

  • @marsarmyful The kind of thinking it's similar to is the kind that justifies Christians bombing abortion clinics, or the KKK lynching the African Americans. This kind of thinking has a name, and it's name is hate and anger- hate founded on ignorance and false facts, and misdirected anger at a flawed system. And it's not good.

  • @marsarmyful And although I wish I could make it my personal mission to explain feminism, it's obvious that people such as @embracingreality (again, not trying to offend you here) are not willing to open their minds, and no amount of objective reasoning and logical argument can persuade someone whose opinion is not based in fact or reality. So, read into it if you want to, and I hope you do. To feminists (M and F) reading: Don't be discouraged, because they honestly just do not get it.

  • @marsarmyful But ALL the facts I gave you are reality! Why are you so weak? Men are required to register for the draft, women are not! Men absolutely do ALL the most dangerous jobs required by a society and die as a result nearly 100 times more than women. The US court systems are so biased against men that 90% of child custody is given to women even when contested, consequently men are forced to pay child support, alimony nearly always! Yet, in 2011 women still expect men to pay for dates..

  • @embracingreality In all my years of teaching, this is the constant argument against feminism: the draft, dangerous jobs, child custody and child support. Maybe you should blame the system that made those laws and not feminism

  • @StaceyGael If feminism is for equality between the genders WHY do they only fight for female causes???

Because they aren't for actual equality, they want privileges for women at the sacrifice of men.

"The system" is manipulated by feminist! The No Fault divorce legislation is just one example. A man can be a generous husband and a wife can divorce him, take the children, home, money and get paid child support and alimony. She can cheat on him an the end result is the same. That's feminism.

  • @embracingreality and again, my last comment. I hate these "feminist wars on Youtube" with close minded individuals such as yourself. Good day.

  • @marsarmyful - He is a member of the MRA, and we all know how lovely MRA members are don't we? He is ignorant.

  • @marsarmyful explain feminism

  • @marsarmyful YOU SAID "Christians bombing abortion clinics, or the KKK lynching the African Americans. This kind of thinking has a name, and it's name is hate"

Are you referring to feminist hatred toward men?

"All men are rapists and that's all they are." -Marilyn French

"Probably the only place where a man can feel really secure is in a maximum security prison" -Germaine Greer

'To call a man an animal is to flatter him; he's a machine, a walking dildo."-Valerie Solanas

    Feminist hate speech..

  • @embracingreality You're conflating feminism with misandry. They are not the same thing. Being a feminist means that you love women, that you want women to be treated fairly, with respect & given equal opportunity. Misandry is the hatred of men. While yes, there are some feminists who are misandrous, it is a fallacy to conflate the two & assume that one causes the other. I am a feminist, but I by no means hate men. I love both men and women and aim to treat all people equal.

  • @o0Theresa0o Yes, all very pretty talk but look at the actions, the results of feminist legislation that is designed to punish men. Hell better yet look at the words of feminist themselves who are leaders and cornerstones in the movement.

Your sitting in front of a computer, google "feminist hate speech" and you can read all night.

"I want to see a man beaten to a bloody pulp with a high-heel shoved in his mouth, like an apple in the mouth of a pig." Anti-porn feminist Andrea Dworkin

    Wake up.

  • @embracingreality Again, you're still conflating the two. What you're doing is similar to saying that all Dems are baby-killers because some Dems approve abortion. Sure, there is a specific group of people who are Dem and approve abortion, and there is a specific group who are feminists and misandrous. That does not imply that they are one and the same, and most certainly does not justify dumping all of one into the category of the other. Simple logic... google Syllogism.

  • @embracingreality Feminism - the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

That's what is up for discussion. Not misandry. Stop bringing misandry into the discussion and trying to discredit feminism by equating the two. They are entirely different concepts.

  • @o0Theresa0o I provided readily available evidence which demonstrates that many if not most of the leaders and core members of feminism were in fact misandric. This misandry was revealed in their very own words, both spoken and in print.

You provide some generic dictionary definition of feminism which doesn't happen to include the words misandry and you expect this to disprove the evidence that the founders and core feminist members were not filled with hatred towards men.

    Seriously, Why?

  • @embracingreality You have obviously been brain-washed by an agenda to demonize feminism for whatever reason. I recommend you actually read Dworkin's work (what she has to say is very powerful, & she strongly advocates for the protection of men, as well as women). I would also suggest that you take a couple women's studies courses. It is not intended to promote hatred toward men. Misandry is not the same thing as feminism, & I am sad to see that you refuse to accept that fact.

  • @o0Theresa0o Dear, clearly you are the one that has been brain washed.

Women's studies courses are garbage and a complete waste of financial resources.

I PROVIDE FACTS! You ignore them, dismiss them and tell me feminism is something that it clearly is not.

Dworkin's work? If that's feminism, and thats good, how in the hell do you reconcile that with the fact that many if not most feminist support porn and some even prostitution (Mc Elroy)?

This is bothering you isn't it? Reality my dear...

  • @embracingreality Acknowledging that some women who are rank and file in the feminist movement do not hate men is not a problem. Some of these women actually believe in real equality, very few. THE MOVEMENT however is morally bankrupt and the evidence of that is in the words of its leaders and the agenda and actions of the movement overall.

I now withdraw from this pointless circle of repeating myself.

  • @embracingreality Feminism as a whole has no unified or unanimously voted in "leader". The "movement" is not made up of a single unified group/goal. Just like the "Occupy Movement", when you get down to the individual level, everyone has their own agenda & story, some we agree with, some we don't. The over-arching message however, remains relatively the same. The individual prerogative shouldn't devalue the over-arching intent. There is no such thing as a pure movement.

  • @o0Theresa0o And that The "over-arching message" of feminism is??? How about "Porn is good!" as its a 100 billion dollar industry thanks to feminists. Or maybe its should be "All men are Rapists!" As the punishment for women who falsely accuse men of rape is little more than a slap on the wrist.

Incidentally even if there was a universally recognized feminist mission statement how would that negate the harm the movement actually does? In spite of its lies about equality.

  • @embracingreality There are different types of feminism "my dear". Some support porn, some don't. That doesn't change the over-arching definition of feminism which is about equality between the sexes. If you dislike feminists who also are also misandrous, that's fine: I dislike them too. But that is not to be reflected on feminism as a whole. What you're doing is what racists do. One black man is a thief, so they are all thieves. One feminist hates men, so they all hate men.

  • @o0Theresa0o There were different types of nazi's. Some nazi's had no animosity towards Jewish people at all. Would you say that cleanses the crimes of the nazi party overall, dear?

Feminism has done NOTHING to improve the equality of men. It seeks special privileges for women at the sacrifice of men and then distorts the word and calls that equality.

WHY don't women register for the draft?

WHY are all the dangerous jobs done by men?

WHY does child support favor women?

    WHY must I repeat myself?

  • @embracingreality Why do you feel it's a feminists job to fight for the equalities of men? Isn't that the job of men? Feminists seek to equalize areas in which women are put at a disadvantage. If they have an advantage, it's the fault of men, not women. Most of your questions are answered by the same thing -patriarchy. Men wouldn't allow women to be drafted/do dangerous jobs etc. If it hasn't changed, it's because old laws put in place by men still live on. Not feminists fault.

  • @o0Theresa0o Are you not aware of the meaning of the word equality? If equality is what feminist wanted then they would be trying to achieve equality. If what they want is advantages then they are simply making enemies of men, thats exactly what they've done.If you had any clue about feminism you would know that the ERA pushed for the draft for women among other things. Women in America didn't want ACTUAL equality and voted it down. The Men's Rights Movement is the enemy feminism earned.

  • @embracingreality With that being said, if you want these things to change, men need to be the ones to fight for it. Just like men have done little to fight for the rights of women, women are not going to do much to fight for the rights of men. Furthermore, it would be absurd to expect any sane person to actively seek out to disadvantage themselves by taking away preexisting advantages.

As for the overall benefits - women have been greatly served by feminism. Ex. Right to vote.

  • @o0Theresa0o Men are fighting for their rights and have been, it's called the Men's Rights Movement. But there is a much more effective weapon called the "Men's Marriage Strike", google it. Marriage has declined dramatically since the 70's as men are waking up to the fact that it is a raw deal for them. The mission of men like me is to inform other men how to avoid being trapped by women.

Feminism had made men the enemies of women and was intended to from the start. Ultimately women will lose.

  • @embracingreality Also, you're taking quotes out of context. This quote by Dworkin was supposed to point out the absurdity of what is permitted in porn. When you take the description of a situation used in porn & replace "woman" for "man", it is highly objectionable (just as you are suggesting), yet it is still permitted in the porn industry. Dworkin is not condoning either... she is trying to highlight how terrible it is by putting men in the woman's position of that scenario.

  • @o0Theresa0o The statements of hate toward men from feminist are many and no alternate context will explain them away. Regardless it was feminist who made porn what it is today by their generous and explicit cooperation in it's production.

As for feminist actions No Fault divorce made it possible (and common practice) for a woman to cheat on her husband and still take primary child custody and therefore child support and alimony. Such a scenario is clearly inequality and abuse.

    Thats feminism.

  • @embracingreality You used 1 from Dworkin, & it was by no means a statement of hatred toward men. Out of context, it looks bad, but she is certainly not condoning the literal meaning of the quote. You can do that with anything. Remove the context of the words, & you could make the pope himself sound like a devil worshiper. It's a logical fallacy - google "fallacy of quoting out of context", and it's intellectual dishonesty. As for no-fault divorce? Are you being serious?

  • @o0Theresa0o I have less use for the pope than I do Dworkin but what difference does it make about the one statement, There are hundreds if not thousands of well documented feminist hate statements that are easily found online, as I pointed out for freak sake. Does contextual manipulation fix the hate behind them?

Serious about no fault divorce? The vast overwhelming majority of child support in the US is paid by men. Most divorces are initiated by wives (at least 70%).

    Hell yes I'm serious.

  • @embracingreality There are hypocrites out there who claim to be something & really aren't. You especially see this with religion: people claiming to be Christians, yet cheat, lie, steal, etc. According to the true definition of what a Christian is, they don't fit the bill, but they still claim to be. Likewise, there are a lot of people who call themselves feminist, yet hate men. Those attitudes are contradictory. Don't pick out the contradictions & apply them to the whole.

  • @marsarmyful WHAT DISADVANTAGES DO WOMEN IN THE US HAVE?

  • @embracingreality You're thinking too rigidly. If you are confused by that then maybe you should just go learn something about feminism because if that is your major snag, you're likely oppressing those around you and not even realize. You probably are, seeing as your response to this girl who has posed a poised, eloquent argument and has never called you out on being a hater or called you names is to call her names that are dismissive and that manipulate her image of intelligence. Oppressive.

  • @StaceyGael "Thinking rigidly" you mean logically? Factual reality? Your devotion to feminism is typical of most women, based on feeling and emotion. I've already pointed out how "feminism" has been a war against itself and you can't refute it. 3rd wave was just an attempt to reinvent an obviously broken down movement that just looked stupid to everyone including most women (who do not identify themselves with feminism).

YOU obviously have multiple accounts and are looking quite ridiculous here.

  • All I saw was a bunch of pretty pictures. It's not any advertising firm's fault if these are the images that sell; if you're that easily swayed by media images (because "The Media" isn't one entity) then that's your own fault. Instead, work to sway individual's opinions and beliefs and advertising will go with it. But, of course, you'll be no better then "The Media" that way, right?

  • hi yeah sorry, some of these are fake (the most outrageous ones, i noticed). if you look, a couple have the worth1000 watermarked logo on them, a site for photoshopping contest and galleries. i know it's a little pedantic to point out, but it kinda cheapens the message.

  • Is it always illegal to kill a woman?

    Awesome.

  • Western media is sick, and has always been sexist it seems. Especially american media. MTV literally brands wome s&m style for an ad, uses women's bodies as promotional objects to sell things as stupid as garbage bags and in songs....i don't want to even go there! It's funny that people view women in Islam as repressed and backwards when as as far as HUMAN rights go women here have no dignity. no value, no honour and no respect. At least not from the media. old and new.

  • @MissPopeyes22 they're just bodies used to sell and for sex. How modern, how free, how respectful.....not.

  • This is how women are represented in media and things still haven't changed. Women are still misrepresented and that's just the culture of this society. Women's bodies are used in mainstream media and it's offensive that, this is all the media thinks of women.

  • i can't wait until i get my degree in advertising. i'll do my best to make sure this kind of crap isn't put on covers.

  • @Rolla4Prez I think the least we can do is rip down the ads when we see them. Is it troublesome? yes! but who is hurt more? the girl who gets beaten because her boyfriend saw this ad and wanted to mimic it, or the store owner?

  • ...WTF did i just watched

  • Why didn't you include any of those peta ads in the video. You know the ones with pictures of women covering their titties with pieces of lettuce and the ones that say that vegetarians have better sex than meat eaters, all while while showing videos of women giving fellatio to cucumbers and throwing cabbage at each other half naked. They even have hot muscular good looking men in some of those adds covering their wangs with puppies.

  • The only thing I got from this is an awesome playlist.

  • i dont want to sound like some moral prophet or smth but i really hate men who dont respect women.. on any level, bussiness or private.. i dont know if its scientific proven but i think that men still have some "cavemen" characteristics since the prahistoric humans.. there are some countries, like saudi arabia, where women are so humiliated and can be beaten according to that fuckin religion.. i cant believe that happens in modern world.. something needs to be done, maybe time will show.. cheers

  • @MrCold012, "caveman characteristics" that built the roof over your head or the computer and the networking and electrical infrastructure that allow you to share your thoughtful ruminations? Also, the oppression and abuse in of women in foreign countries ruse (since most people won't doubt them) is a tool used by feminists and their bankster masters to further their family weakening, child indoctrinating and wealth stealing agenda. Edison, Tesla, DaVinci, McCartney, Dylan, Jobs...all cavemen.

  • @MrCold012 Um, its not caveman, Its; a CHOICE. And who says cavemen oppressed women? that's almost like saying it's natural, ergo, there's a reason for it.

  • The reason I did not respond to your insults is because I've heard them all before. This is not the first conversation I've had with a "good" feminist. And because I am controlling my portion of this conversation, it's going to be topical, succinct and sans personal insults. At least from me. The feminist movement on the other hand, is so bankrupt of anything good at this juncture that I find it impossible to conjure anything good to say about it.

  • you do realize that half of these ads are more than 60 years old right?

  • @basketballjocks errr, that's the POINT that the video maker was making. The sexism in modern day advertising is not so different from 60 years ago, in other words, as a Society, we really haven't evolved gender equality that far in 60 years, and that's sad.

  • The starvation and malnutrition are the womens choices but i agree with the rest. As a man myself i can agree that we are no better than women.

  • Feminism shouldn't and actually has nothing to do with hating men. it is about loving women. Men: calm down. No one is attacking your gender. In fact, considering 4.5% (approx. 6 million men) in the US have attacked ours, according to government collected self reporting anonymous surveys, I'd say feminism is still very relevant. Learn something about an ideology before you bash it or are scared of it. Feminism is about learning why this happens and learning how to stop it. Inform yourself.

  • @marsarmyful, feminists are evil and selfish. I've never seen one spouting off about inequality from not being able to register for conscription. I've never seen one angry about breast cancer research funding that vastly eclipses prostate cancer funding. I've never seen a feminist concerned about the disparity in parental custodies, workplace deaths, suicide rates or the inherently bigoted nature of laws like VAWA (even though domestic violence perps are 50% female). It isn't about equality.

  • @teerexness Clearly you've been paying attention to people who call themselves feminists, but aren't. Feminism is NOT a bad thing, but it has a bad reputation because of people who take it to far and still call themselves feminists.

  • @SazzyIsSnazzy, so what exactly is missing from the lives of "good" feminist that they need an Marxist collectivist movement to co-opt state power to threaten the other 49% of the population with? 51% of the population are little shrinking violets suffering in some sort of silence without protection, collusion and massive funding from the government? Feminists are no more or less important than men are, there's the harsh truth stripped of the government sponsored dogma.

  • @teerexness What are you even taking about? I never said they were more or less important than men. What you said barely responded to anything I said so I have no idea where that's all coming from except that you're clearly bitter and not willing to see things another way so this conversation is pointless.

  • @teerexness Well, you're learning something false from a twisted misogynistic fear mongering ideal- "Why feminism is evil." . You're the kind of person that anti feminist advertising targets, and it works. I just hope other people are smarter!! Ignorance is awful, come to a university or a college and actually learn something about it, or go to a women's studies class. (I bet you'll say something like, "I have and they are all evil! They all hate men!!!!") but no matter. Paaathetic

  • @marsarmyful, shaming language in 10, 9, 8,...

I think most people are starting to see feminism for what it is. Bigotry. And I also think a disturbing number (for feminists) of women are starting to see through it. Feminism has brought them wage slavery, messed up kids, failed marriages, dependence on the state, stress and many other wonderful things. And now they are starting to find that it has given them a disenchanted male population which are no longer available for female manipulation.

  • @marsarmyful Perhaps you can direct us to some sort of feminist holy book that states what the feminist ideals actually are.

In the 70's & 80's groups of women calling themselves "feminists" apposed porn, prostitution and the objectification of women.

In the 70's & 80's groups of women calling themselves "feminists" supported the rights of women to sexual liberation and all the aforementioned social ill's.

So who won??? It was called Feminist Sex Wars and is old news.

    Feminism is meaningless.

  • @embracingreality Well, "embracingreality," I'd be happy to! (Not a dig at your name, just thought it fit well...) When you think about our history, it's thought about linearly, and so feminism should be seen the same (or in a similar) way. The movements have moved with the times. If you look at the 70's and 80's, there was a lot of dissent and concern specifically geared towards reproductive autonomy. It's very difficult to classify feminism into any one specific movement...

  • @marsarmyful Feminism then and now is undefinable beyond causes relating to females. Asking someone if they're for feminism is like asking someone if they're for politics... What feminism? What politics? Feminism is undefinable! What little good feminism has done is easily covered under the movement known as human rights, women are human aren't they? So why is a separate movement that exclusively favors one gender needed? It's not.
