This was surely the best StarTrek. Photography awesome, awesome music, awesome storyline, clever, cerebral and compatible with what was expected of a film version of the series, without resort to conflicts between people and star wars. A true journey into the unknown, to save humanity. TMP was the best of StarTreks, and this did not betray its essence.
@eagle45147 Star Trek was definitely an influence but Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers were much more important. Dune was also an influence, albeit a minor one.
Yes, she also played Nurse Christine Chapel in the Original series as well as the Computer voice in most episodes of all of the new sereis (TNG to Voyager)
@TheReasonWhyGuy She is an actress she has played many roles. Number one in the cage, Nures Chaple, the computervoice in both the original and next generation and Deana's Mother.
The 3rd season of ST was very poor. The budget was cut drastically. The scripts were very disappointing. The morale of everyone involved was obviously low. It's probably just as well the show was cancelled and then resurrected by the movies.
I think the second season is UNQUESTIONABLY the best- all 7 crewmembers are there, there are a lot of the best ones ever in Trek there (Amok Time, Mirror, Mirror, and The Trouble with Tribbles right of the top of the head- oh, and The Doomsday Machine and A Piece of the Action... I can go on...)
Season 1 is good, but very raw, still fleshing out a lot... has City on the Edge of Forever
Season 3 was hit-and-miss, with Spectre of the Gun and The Enterprise Incident tow of the best; some bad.
Time to solve the most hyped question of all time: Star Wars or Star Trek.
Star Trek on television: 3-2
Star Trek on film: 5-4-2
Total: 8-6-2
Star Wars on television: 2-0
Star Wars on film: 3-1-2
Total: 5-1-2
Winner (by points): Star Trek
Winner (my opinion): Star Wars
The question cannot be solved.

Star Trek inspired George Lucas to write Star Wars. Him and Spielberg are Star Trek fans.

@eagle45147 Flash Gordon and the movie serials from the 1930's inspired George Lucas to write Star Wars.

I agree for the most part, there were some pretty good episodes that came out of the 3rd season though.
