@asderso i think he mixed the ALBUM with the SOUNDTRACK. This exellent piece you hear is from the ALBUM, which is the Masterpiece. The SOUNDTRACK is different

@Middlesexful thank you, I got it "Foros Timis Ston Greco" and "El Greco" the movie soundtrack are 2 different works.

@asderso This is not a piece from the soundtrack to Iannis Smaragdis' movie, but the first movement from the El Greco album composed some years earlier. He did so to raise money for a work by Domenikos Theotoukopoulos to be bought and returned to Greece.

i've heard "chariots of fire", "conquest of paradise", some "jon & vangelis"-stuff, a compilation, "china", i bought "spiral", "heaven and hell", "l'apocalypse des animaux" - but "el Greco" is the damn best thing i heard from mister papathanassiou so far. i love this man.

on 7:17 the masterpiece and best part beginns! i like the most tracks of vangelis. his musical ideas are one of the best what we have in a time with electronic music. i know, not all people like this kind of music, but i am absolutely sure: he is complete underestimated.

I will make the correction. I dont know if you are christian or not since the new age cult does offend christianity, but many of Vangelis's work has been labelled "new age" for some reason.

New age electronica is something that deals with working on Western classical notes in a synthesizers, New age electronica stressses on Harmony like Western classical more than pallavi and charanams similar to Indian music you see in Pink Floyd psychedelic rock...

Vangelis is the complete composer, in Alexander he composed few tracks in the symphony which from any musican's opinion could've been done in the studio. Only Vanelis himself can understand perfection creator of virtual genre

May be I will sound quite crazy, but the music of this composer gives me the same sensations that people like H.P. Lovecraft or J.R.R. Tolkien had created in their public; an atmospheric deepness that could only be explain by persons with the gift of high developed imagination...of an retrospective memories in the deep regions of the human mind.
