Ariel's family have a lot of members who are NAMED after gods. They themselves are merpeople--not immortals or demi-gods. Ariel's grandfather is named Poseidon, her father is named Triton, and her mother is called Athena. Ariel and Hercules are not related.
Except Triton had a fish fin insted of legs, but I suppose that would be weird, having him walk on land. But then again, Po Po could've used his godly powers to turn them into legs.
