  • where is Bishop Kovacevich here?

  • I didn't know Kovacevich was a rachmaninoff players. Thought he was german rep and french. Has he recorded this. His Bartok is mystifying.

  • Mikhail Rudy sux, heard him play

  • guys pls correct me if i'm wrong, but does it seem that piano playing i becoming a lost art? I no that its still alive and all n we have Sooo many talented performers..thx to Youtube, young talents from all over the world is being discovered everyday. BUT..there seems to b the inevitable notion that piano (esp classical piano) is just not popular anymore. Now its more vocal (pop) and guitar and drums...Plss guys..i want to hear others opinions on the status of piano playing 2day;is it declining?

  • @bluematrix109 yes it is because music doesnt need pianos like it did in the oldren days... Same with many instruments.

  • I really like Rudy and Olga

  • Kovacevich is the star of this particular clip. Thanks for posting!

  • Glorious playing! Bravo! Brava!

  • man you are a usefull friend thank you for all of that information.

  • I love this video!

The pure talent of these people is incredible!

but the list is long, very long...

  • Yes, indeed klingsor93, the third... :) !

You all are Masters in Listening Music, so I have a question: can you hear who is playing? Is there something typical with or about the one or the other?

So that you can hear, blind!!, who is playing?

Would love it to learn more from this. I am not a musician, I am a lover of Music, and admiror of Musicians.... But I heard not enough to know who is playing... Do you?? And HOW?

  • All Musicians have their own style and if you are familiar with that persons playing you can hear the different ways they tend to analyze and play music, you can then recognize their playing on any piece. If I was to teach this skill I would start by listening to the same piece of music, (Moonlight Sonata for example), played by several different people until you can hear the differences. Hope this helps.

  • Thank you...

Indeed, Moonlight sonata is an easy way to start learning, there are many versions of it.

Is it so that the conductor leaves the complete interpretation to the pianist, who is the soloist in a certain concerto? In a way it has to be so, as far as I can give an opinion about this.

  • Kovacevich was truly great in the repertoire you have posted here.

  • Ottimo

  • Great work!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Your certainly seem to love that 3rd Concerto by Rachmaninov. And you seemto appreciate Michaël Rudy. I far prefer Stephen Kocacevicj(ex Bishop ) and Olga Kern has given us proof, many times, of her flamboyant virtuosity. Please carry on!

  • wow olga kern bit was amazing, so were the other pianists. very good series.
