  • A timeless musical masterpiece that not only has stood the test of time but will forever resonate with true music lovers of this world even to the end of this existence. A must have on your "the world is ending" playlist

  • Some 90s stuff did suck, but there where some that where ok. I'd say more sucked than where good though, lol

  • this song is about war and is against it not a battle

  • @TheSchaney True, you're right.Maybe it's the bad memories I associate with some of the music from the 90's.I don't know but I do like alot of the bands and artists you listed in your comment.I guess I was referring to the "pop" music of the 90's.lol.You know how everyone's opinions vary on music. My opinions are just for me,I intend to force them upon anyone.

  • @doublemcnasty I can dig it

  • Thumbs up if you are here because of Lord of the Rings

  • I had a dream that my truck broke down and Paul McCartney was the tow truck driver picking me up. And this song was blaring through his speakers. I haven't heard this song in what feels like years. But Paul McCartney and Zeppelin in one dream? Mind Blown.

  • God listens to this song

  • One of the most epic songs of all time. Period.

  • Is that Ann Wilson singing with Robert Plant ?

  • @msenzee

    no. Sandy Denny

  • @msenzee I think it is alison krouse

  • so great music & so good lyrics...in every song <3

i'm 18 and born in the wrong time...

  • @PfifDeluxe Me too ..

  • this song is okay but kind of to hippy-like. the hell w/ hippys ...long live led zeppelin. hippys smell bad & you all to soon realize where they work. usually no where. ha ha ha. long live led zeppelin.

  • Led Zeppelin and Tolkien..... perfect

  • who is Sandy Denny? does Plant not sing this one or his there some sort of duet?

  • @browntownforever sandy bean backup vocals, you can obv. tell plant is singing this aswell......

  • @n420cowan denny i mean, im drunk right now sorry

  • @n420cowan lol u would be drunk :P

  • @browntownforever Sandy Dennis was a British folk singer and yes,she and Plant are singing a duet on this song.

  • THIS is music!

  • Oh, well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow

  • song is straight fire

  • "The Battle of Evermore" without Sandy Denny is like "White Rabbit" without Grace Slick.

  • Great song by one of the greatest bands. Love the Tolkien influence for the song. Sandy Denny is great as well. She was in the bands Fairport Convention, The Strawbs, and Fotheringay. Check those bands out if you get a chance

  • I like this song more than stairway to heaven

  • my point cannot be understood because the sky is filled with good and bad mortal never know

  • Battle of Pelennor Fields?

  • @SteveDude64

Its a song about war, not a particular battle

  • @TypoChamp It is a song about Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Hence "The Ring Wraith's ride in black."

  • This is like my song right now..

im not 30 or anything, but im young and

i wouldnt live without led zeppelin.

  • These were the best days and the best bands.70's & 80's were the best...

  • my fav led zep song

  • this song is about a war that never ends,a fight with in all people throughtout all time.motal never know because they dont believe.they think its a song is about a movie.

  • @highball1963 The song is about, Lord of the Rings.

  • @highball1963 If you're talking about The Lord of the Rings, you NEVER call it a movie you idiot. It is a book, and it is legen - wait for it - DARY. And this song does have one definite reference to LoTR, and several that seem likely. So learn what you're talking about before you say it.

  • @SteveDude64 One of my favourite books by the way, Actually, there are two thing i love; Zep and Tolkien, so this song is AWESOME. You've got my thumb up ;)

  • there needs to be a button that says love...like just isnt enough

  • The thing I like most about this album is the old English folklore intrinsically linked with music.

  • @dawirestyle2010 THE MOVIE WASN'T UP TO STANDARD.

  • This song was about the hobbit, like many other zeppelin songs such as kashmir. I really hope there are some zeppelin songs in the new hobbit movie coming out this year.

  • @hashit134 ramble on song is about hobbit too :)

  • god da*n this is good .....i have not heard this in most likely 10 years ,,,,,,now you can see why it no zep is so good

  • @dawirestyle2010 : Probably becuz Led Zep did not give the permission to do so. They are incredibly tough in that respect.

  • on the ground

  • Hindustani meend glide to a glide from one note to another.

  • alexvuk... your right but, the world does not allowq the piece otf mind to live in our fanaticies

  • In concert, Jones sang Sandy Denny's part. Sometimes John Bonham sang instead of Jones. For those who don't know, Sandy Denny was the guest vocalist singing with Plant in this song. She passed away in 1978 at the age of 31.

  • the greatest einigma this spinning planet will ever experience !!! nuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Sandy Denny

  • This song was composed on another dimention!

  • love song....

  • <3<3<3 The Best Band Ever = Led Zeppelin <3<3<3

  • I used to have sex to this song back in the 90's in highschool lol.TMI,inno, but still a good choice for a teenager back then(the song anyways lol).90's music sucked,so I was into Zeppelin,Pink Floyd, ect.Glad I was, bcoz it paved the way for my musical mind of 2day!

  • @doublemcnasty dude, i have sex WITH this song.

  • @JeffDelMusic LMAO!

  • @doublemcnasty 90's music sucked? That's your opinion and you're aloud to have it. I disagree and so does Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. Thought you should know that. I mean, c'mon man, bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Blind Melon, Alice in Chains, Beck, Chili Peppers, The Smashing Pumpkins, 2Pac, NIN, Jeff Buckley, Weezer, Def Tones, DMB, The Fugees, Lenny Kravitz, OutKast, Jewel, Natalie Merchant, Sheryl Crow, Biggie, TLC, Pantera, Wilco, Blues Traveler, etc.....

  • @TheSchaney bro...you cant forget the white stripes!:) haha

  • @TheSchaney I'm an Old School dude. But, those bands that you mentioned are the last great "rocker-type" bands worth their salt. I dig the STP's and Pearl Jam and the Chili Peppers and Collective Soul...the sad part is this: all of those bands combined can't touch the Zeppelin. It ain't even close...

  • @jabnhook8r That's one way to look at it and I'm sure a lot of people would agree with you. I think it's comparing apples to oranges.

  • Comment removed

  • @doublemcnasty That makes you like what... 40? But you type like a 13 year old girl. Stop it, okay?

  • if u dont like this song ur probably gay.. and if ur gay u probably suck dick.. and if u suck did ur no friend of led zeppelin. keep fag trolls out of youtube.

  • o god is it possible to be in love with a song??

  • god this is such a nice song :) after that Black Dog and Rock And Roll mess this is a relaxing ride towards the stairway. not knocking Black Dog and RnR they are great songs but imo they are a bit overrated and compared to this and stairway they're kinda obnoxious. if the sides of their fourth album were arranged for one to have light songs and the other to have heavy songs i'd place this first then four sticks then going to california then stairway. other side: Black Dog, MM, RnR, levee

  • The voices just match, Allison Krause may have bean as good but Plant's tone is not what it used to be so this will always be the the absolute best. Sandy Denny rules.

  • I'm just curious, Did the one person who disliked this song do it just tp be the only person? I mean really, that is just so terrible.

Please like if u agree :)

May The Great ZEP LIVE 4 EVER!!! ROCK ON!! :[]

  • Only 1 dislikes? 1 for the GALLOWS POLE

  • I think all the fuss about the Zep ripping off other people is bullshit... Everybody is a thief in this world.. They were more than brilliant and I'm not even an hardore Zep fan.. actually in my youth Iwas more into Can, Beefheart and The Stooges to tell you the truth.. but come on enjoy the music and stop being the Big White Musicologist Purist

  • Willy Dixon sued Zep over copyrite infringement and won himself some money, but he was one who may have benefitted most from the British blues-rock invasion. He wrote some of the better songs that had appeal to the lads, and were more friendly to the heavy metal arrangements favored by us whites. So some of us honkies were actually the best thing that ever hapened for them. Besides inventing instruments like pianos- guitars -drum kits- basses organs-harmonicas amplifiers and P.A's on and on.

  • Zep and others may have taken liberties with some songs by old black bluesmen, but BB King admits that WITHOUT those brillant young ENGLSH ROCKERS American blues artists would never have been known to the world. He was virtually in tears when he said a very heartfelt thank you to the lads from England for resurrecting interest in those old tunes and saving them and allowing them to be known, and to finally start making some good money. Black bluesmen love Zep- R-Stones Clapton and J-Beck a lot.

  • Great Zeppelins are, but this song is much better with The Lovemongers' cover.

  • @FogellDhey Not at all.

  • @Fiaganja words cannot express how much i want to punch you in the face right now

  • @steverino25 let me guess.. you are twelve and have just discovered led zeppelin, which among your friends, are soooooo cool...

  • @Fiaganja you're wrong by the way about my age and such. please, do tell why robert plant should "shut the fuck up"

  • @Fiaganja lol that time of the month again is it?

  • @Fiaganja No. You should, though.

  • @Fiaganja not really, you should though, why are you even in this video, gtfo

  • @Fiaganja FUCK YOU!

  • @Fiaganja successful troll is successful

  • @Fiaganja Plant is the greates singer who ever lived whats wrong with you seriously, trolling isnt cool just because you cant get any and dont like Zeppelin doesnt give you the right to say that I mean seriously get your life together

  • Read "Disconnect" . . . to be published in late 2012.

  • this is one zep song people cant say ripped off from old blues artists

  • Can't get enough of this song, already raped the replay button, and still pressing it :)

  • The lyrics are like a poem or a story but put to the tune of a mandolin, acoustic guitar and Robert Plant's voice. INCREDIBLE!

  • @MrLeafsnation Wow yeah if only someone could write a story that would somehow fit those lyrics about Ringwraiths, the Dark Lord, and all that!

  • I LOVE THIS GROUP FOREVER!

  • I love you, Sandy

  • Sandy Denny! Check out her on youtube sometime

  • @michaelpilot1000 she IS still the greatest!

  • i love Zeppelin but this song would not be the same with out Sandy Dennys vocals.

  • @Memnoch67 Led Zep knew that and made every effort to get her to perform with them. I guess that's why she was the only 'external' performer to be given a place on their album covers

  • 1 person has lost the battle of Evermore!!!

  • Battle of the Pelennor Fields in Return of the King

  • Everything Zepp duz is timeless. No one will ever recreate the feelings invoked

  • Who else is doing the vocals to this great tune?

  • @zzhamstring Sandy Denny is on this version. JPJ did her part on the live versions with Zep that can be seen on youtube. Very funny cause he's off key and Robert's amused. There is a version with Plant Page with Najma Atkar on focals but to me this version is brilliant and impossible to surpass, though Ann and Nancy Wilson do a good cover.

  • @zzhamstring Sandy Denny. So beautiful.

  • Not the only LED song to reference the LOTR

  • Makes you want to go to Stonehenge or dance around a maypole.

Killing me won't save your apples!

  • Sandy Denny's wipes Grace Slick off the floor -- ever heard Grace Slick live? It's not impressive.

  • Sandy Denny's gorgeous voice.

  • absolute genius,,, love this jam

  • @alexvlk yeah i don't know..but i know i wouldn't want the job of putting a greatest hits album together for zeppelin..i would end up choosing all of their songs haha

  • wheres the loop button??

  • Sandy Denny . The best female vocalist ever.

  • @mocatmon Grace Slick, man!

  • @mocatmon - she has been my favorite female singer for 40 years -

  • @mocatmon sorry we are talking about plant over here

  • @mocatmon=just saw a documentary about her..good but sadly 85% talk & 15% music/perf clips..but they did have a clip of this remarkable song from a live perf in 1966

"Green Grows the Laurels"..(look it up on youtube)=it is just heartbreakingly beautiful & higher lighter & more delicate than later on as here (its on Live at the BBC-Sandy Denny

Universal 948 992-8 (3CD + DVD, UK, September 10, 2007) according to internet). a great loss. Allison Krause DOES do nice versions of this live2!

  • My friends and I made a music video for this as a project lol production was so fucking fun because we redid the actual Battle of Evermore from LoTR :D

  • close to my favourite track on my favourite Zeppelin album. Beautiful in every way .

  • if anyone can sing it close to Led it's the Wilson sisters...

  • Led Zeppelin brought Sandy Denney in to do this song; I thought this was brilliant and genus, very original, another great achievement for Led Zeppelin and Rock.

  • One of the greatest songs of the twentieth century.

  • I bought a mandolin yesterday, just for this song!

  • oh my god this song is so damn good

  • whats this song about?

  • Why does this song fail to make "best of albums"? It is brilliant!

  • @alexvlk I don't get it either. It's my favorite Led Zeppelin song!

  • @alexvlk lol it's on "Early Days/Latter Days" which is the most popular one

  • @alexvlk .... coz it dont need to! True Zepellialians will just know this!

  • because it's a song, not an album

  • @alexvlk For the most part, best of albums are about what sold best, not what was best. That, or the personal picks of the band.

  • @alexvlk I think compilations are more about sales. Sometimes, it's about the band's personal choice, but with a sales giant like Zep, I don't think it'd be that common for that.

  • @alexvlk its on early days dum dum. still its good that you recognize the greatness of this song.

  • So this is Sandy Denny singing on the track with Robert Plant huh? Great stuff. What a perfect pairing of vocalists.

  • Sandy....

  • My fave Zep. amazing. still, and always.

  • @missvintagemercury Yes, I think this is my favorite Led track too! I like all their songs, but this one stands out and never gets much airplay on rock radio.

  • perfection *.*

  • The other channel that had the studio version of this song either took it off or committed suicide so I favorited this one

  • why isnt there any comments this song rocks and led zeppelin is one of the best bands of all time their music will live on forever!

  • Another timeless masterpiece.

  • @baremetal wow it's incredible how well zep 4 stands up after all this time
