  • what an asshole he is... Bad luck for Toronto!

  • There is no gravy train it's so apparent now come 2014 all conservatives are done!!

  • @twc101r I agree totally! What's sad is I could see conservativsm being ok, ages ago, but the conservatism we have now it's conservatism at all. It's white straight male christian cultism yet again. There was a time where if you wanted to focus on society issues and opportunities, such as health care, education, libraries, food banks ect, you voted more on the left. If you wanted to focus on infrastructure, business growth and money then you voted right. Both were appropriate to switch between.

  • @twc101r And in fact helped fuel the other. Now it's just one sided, the right, and it's not about saving money. The right is breaking the law, our freedoms are void, and the ones who believe it will help society have been duped. I do not judge against those who vote conservative, I pity them and know they've been tricked.

  • Sorry but maybe part of being elected Mayor is not volunteering to coach for a year or two, chirst. There's not one other parent on that team that's eligible to coach?

  • Seriously he can't step aside for 5 mins so he isn't distracted? What a freaking buffoon.

  • CBC has garbage programs and shows, it can't compete with private networks, that is why they need 1.1 billion dollars from tax payers, anyway I am done with this debate.

  • FORD NATION!

  • @hockpatooey Name one good thing Ford has done. One.

  • Personally, I believe that politicians like Ford pander to what they think is the status quo. He does not strike me as a person of principle in any way. Nothing interesting or unique about him. His only purpose was to be elected as Mayor of Toronto for personal gain. I am not from Toronto, and I'm glad of it because I would not want to live under such a shallow autocrat. He is not concerned with what is good for Toronto. Seems to me his only interest is Rob Ford.

  • CBC also produces lame programs that no one with any sense of taste would find funny or entertaining. We should not give this network any public funds. 1.1billion can be better spent elsewhere.

  • @MrIntangibleasset CBC produces award-winning journalism, children's programming, documentaries, and dramas.

If you want tits and explosions subscribe to Fox.

  • You could hear the contempt and smugness in the interviewer. The CBC are liberal Pansy morons. Like spoiled little Kids afraid their toys will be taken away, gimme gimme mine mine... Stupid entitlement attitude. Way to go Ford.

  • @MrIntangibleasset I'm sure you're used to hearing that tone of voice. That's what it sounds like when someone with intelligence talks to a yutz.

  • @MrIntangibleasset And it was Ford showing contempt to the interviewer by barely paying attention and cutting the pre-scheduled interview short so he could go watch a football game. But I'm not surprised a Ford supporter has poor listening skills.

  • @zammmerjammer He coaches football. Not just any kind of football the kids he works with are largely at risk youth from the black community. Youth who would be out selling drugs, shooting each other, or doing other crimes. Rob Ford works with these kids to offer them an alternative, and help them make positive choices. Try talking to some of the parents of these kids and how much they appreciate his work. Don't just make blatant statements.

  • @MrIntangibleasset Well, that's lovely. But it doesn't explain why they schedule the interview for that time nor does it make Ford sound any more articulate.

Ford should stick to football. Being mayor is a bit more complex.

  • @zammmerjammer, The people voted him in, its called democracy, live with it. Also, the 1.1 billion dollars given to the CBC each year of tax payer money should be stopped. Don't you see the CBC is a left wing biased network, and it produces garbage programs that no one likes.

  • @MrIntangibleasset No I don't "see" that since none of it is true. CBC produces excellent radio and TV programs that do well domestically and internationally.

Also, I'd like some evidence of this supposed "bias" the CBC possesses, please. (p.s. "bias" is a real word with a real definition, it doesn't just mean "stuff I don't like")

Democracy is when the public engages in the entire political process, not just voting once every few years. Look it up.

And only 1/4 of the electorate voted for Ford.

  • @zammmerjammer It is what it is, he won within the system rules, fair and square. If it was your guy who won I am sure you would not be saying 1/4 this or that. Jean Chretian also won majority governments over and over again without most of the electorate voting for him, no liberal complained then??

LOL CBC is garbage, I don't know any person who watches "Mosque on a prairie" or "This Hour has 22 min" It is a lame network, and it would be broke without gov handouts. Their ratings are down.

  • @MrIntangibleasset Well, I'm not a liberal, big L or little l, so I was probably complaining actually since it's about time we had proportional representation.

My point isn't that I think he cheated, it's the reality that most people didn't vote for him and he is now THEIR mayor too. He doesn't just get to live in an echo chamber where he hears only what he wants to.

And whether or not you like 2 shows means nothing.

Still waiting for evidence of this "bias" please...

  • If anyone has been riding the so called "gravy train" it was Rob Ford! I don't think Rob Ford has lived that hard of a life when I took my first look at him! He looks as if he ate all the gravy on the dinner table.

  • Rob Ford is an embarrassment to the great city of Toronto.

  • roflmao,.. this fellow ran scared from a tv crew lol lol lol

  • Get rid of the gravy! Way to go Ford! He's awesome

  • @Jamespot24 Yay! Meaningless slogans!

    Quoth the Ford voter: "duh."

  • @zammmerjammer Nah its a sweet slogan because it makes the point the government is too big! Hopefully 17,000 union freaks get laid off and I get a tax break. Even if I don't get a tax break hopefully 17,000 union freaks get laid off :)

Public service unions are leaches on the public wallet.

  • @Jamespot24 Right. It's nice you consider 17,000 of your fellow citizens to be "leeches" (note correct spelling). How one is a "leech" based on the fact one works full-time escapes me. But you Tea Party nuts are all primed to go after the guy making 60K a year while defending the guy making millions. Your psychotic disconnect from reality really is amusing.

More like "middle class rubes who whinge about paying their taxes are leeches on the public wallet."

  • @zammmerjammer I don't mind when teachers are earning a good living, as well as other qualified people. But when people are getting paid $60k+over time so its like $95k, for sitting in a TTC booth or stamping papers at the DMV, I dont want to pay for it. If its a company thats cool, if im forced to pay for that through taxes its not.

Those garbage men will get jobs with the new garabage company, that wont cost me money either, its win win!

  • @Jamespot24 I still haven't heard a good argument about why people shouldn't be paid a decent wage, other than you have a shitty personality, and I don't see how that's relevant.

It's cool if a company screws people out of $ but it's not ok for public employees to make a good income? That makes no sense whatsoever. Just like the decision to vote for Ford in the first place...

  • @zammmerjammer If the LCBO CEO or Hydro Ontario CEO makes millions that pisses me off, cause I pay for it. If those things are privatized then its none of my business... Cause they arent taking millions from me

  • @Jamespot24 I find your fairytale world where private companies don't cost you money ADORABLE.

No one is taking millions from you, unless you're Warren Buffet. You don't have millions. That PUBLIC money goes into PUBLIC services. The world doesn't revolve around you.

And for the record, private companies take more out of your pocket every day than any level of government.

  • @Jamespot24 So genius, you just got your wish -- now Toronto suddenly has 17,000 people suddenly out of work. Those people & families pay less taxes because their income is now much lower. Many of them have to go on assistance. Some get other (shitty) jobs but they have to pinch pennies so they can't afford to go out to eat or see movies. Local businesses close due to fewer customers. MORE people out of work. In order to combat this recession the gov't spends money on stimulus measures.

  • @zammmerjammer (cont'd) Yutzes like you squeal even more about "gov't waste" but squeal even louder when services are cut or eliminated. Congratulations, you've just created an underclass of wage slaves who can't get out of poverty and whose children are doomed to the same fate. But, y'know, you got a nice shiny loonie in the mail!!!

  • @zammmerjammer Wage slaves? The people working in the government are stuck there, they rely on the government for their income, that sounds like an underclass. Of people who are reliant on government, which is what liberals want!

  • @Jamespot24 What does that even mean? Stuck there? I haven't seen any chains at City Hall.

You make no sense. Anyone working anywhere is "reliant" on their employer for their income -- what does that even mean?

And now we hear about what the big bad "liberals" are doing. (the word being used as a catch-all pejorative by people who have no idea what the word even means)

  • @zammmerjammer When someone works for a private company they are usually able to quit and get an equal or better wage at another private company. When someone only stamps papers or sits in a booth they aren,t going to be able to find a $60k year with another place. So they are reliant on the government in that sense,

  • @Jamespot24 Hardly. If they're not unionized they on average make less than a similarly qualified non-union worker, public company or private company. So you just have an irrational hatred of unions, is that it?

  • @zammmerjammer Yeah man quit hating on Ford, he's a good dude. He has a bit of social awkwardness and with the liberal media out to get him and they can make him look bad. I believe Ford doesn't make any decision lightly, he cares about Toronto and doesn't want it going bankrupt!

The guy has put up with more crap from the media then any other mayor. He's sacrificing his personal life because he cares about the city! Why can't you just respect that?

  • @Jamespot24 Oh, it's the fault of the "liberal" media that he cancelled Transit City? That he cut revenue and created this mini financial crisis? That despite being on council for a decade he couldn't come up with his supposed "efficiencies"? When political leaders make shitty decisions, there are real consequences for real people. No one cares that he's "socially awkward," he's criticized because he's INCOMPETENT. His math made no sense pre-election and it sure as hell makes no sense now.

  • @Jamespot24 When half-wits with shitty ideas make bad decisions with terrible consequences I always hear them complain that they're poor embattled "conservatives" being picked on by the "liberal" boogeyman. Being an idiot is not a political ideology.

Whether or not he cares is not as relevant as whether or not he knows what he's doing. This isn't a Disney movie. Having a good heart (and I'm not convinced he does) is NOT going to keep the boat from sinking.

  • @zammmerjammer Yeah liberals in the media think, liberal politicial= normal, conservative politician= bad. So while Miller fucked the city over with the garbage strike, costing the city millions and making Toronto look like Detroit for the summer tourists, he got away with it. The media loved Miller, eventho he screwed up the city.

Ford wants to replace streetcars with buses. They don't have tracks to maintain, and if one breaks down it can be towed away!

  • @Jamespot24 I don't know what you think the definition of "liberal" and "conservative" is.

Ford's policies aren't "conservative," they're crap and they make no sense. How about you actually do 10 minutes of research into buses vs. streetcars? Streetcars are lower energy, higher capacity, and move faster in traffic. Buses add vehicles to the road and only have .75 (or less) the capacity of a streetcar.

What exactly is your criticism of Miller? How did he "screw up the city"?

  • @zammmerjammer Yeah buses are cheaper too. And with lower costs you can afford more buses.

    Duuhhh

  • @Jamespot24THINK about that for half a second!

More buses -- that means more drivers, labour costs will soon negate any savings you made on the initial purchase. Buses are also more expensive to operate & maintain so more maintenance people to pay. More buses to carry the same capacity of streetcars means approx. 50% increase in transit vehicles on the road. More buses means they are less spread out on the route and soon bunching will occur. Slower, more expensive, and less capacity. Buses lose.

  • @zammmerjammer Well thats weird the poor cities like Detroit don't have streetcars then. Really weird since streetcars are supposedly cheaper.

  • @Jamespot24 Streetcars ARE cheaper. Do 5 minutes of research. But I think you summed yourself up with your "Duuhhh" comment above.

Detroit's problems are myriad. I don't know what that has to do with anything.

  • @Jamespot24 So-called "conservatives" are often pilloried because they have TERRIBLE ideas masquerading as "conservative" ones. See Harper's mega-prisons. Is math a "liberal" conspiracy? And how is the union strike Miller's fault?

How about instead of manufacturing paranoid fantasies you actually defend Ford's crappy record? I know that's a lot more difficult...

  • @zammmerjammer Well if u can't convince them defeat them! And those prisons will be built, the long gun registry will be gotten rid off, garbage service has already been privatized (beautiful).

So maybe there will be gun fights in the street and murder will skyrocket lol. But I think the conservatives will crack down on the asses of criminals more then soft liberals. Because as we all know liberals are soft on crime, and scared of guns!

  • @Jamespot24 Again, you use these words with no seeming understanding of their meaning.

"Soft" on crime? What does that mean? Not jailing people for life for non-violent offenses? Rehabilitating people? Providing drug treatment? Reintegrating them into the community? If by "soft on crime" you mean integrated strategies that provide results and ARE ACTUALLY EFFECTIVE, then give me "soft on crime" any day.

But I know how fond half-wits are of meaningless slogans.

  • @zammmerjammer Nah I prefer people who break the law suffer. I know someone in my old high school who got 6-8 years for murder! Someone lost their life and that asshole is probably out and walking the street right now. Disgusting

Oh but maybe if you kept him in for life or executed a murderer they would be somehow more likely to recommit right? Honestly if someone who committed murder can ever walk to my house and ring the doorbell something is wrong with Canada!

  • @Jamespot24 Well, causing people to suffer may be how the prison system works in Afghanistan, but in Canada it's called the JUSTICE system.

Your random anecdote does not support Harper's huge & ridiculous policy change that will COST more money and DO NOTHING to change crime stats.

Criminals largely come from impoverished neighbourhoods. How about we invest millions of $ in those communities to PREVENT criminality and violence?

  • @zammmerjammer That guy came from a good school, he was a bad kid. Is 6-8 years appropriate for a murderer? I mean honestly

I disagree with the poverty=crime analogy. I think the main factor that causes both poverty and crime is drop out dad's, having a parent who is addicted to alcohol or drugs. A lack of role models is what causes kids to join gangs and sell drugs.

  • @Jamespot24 Poverty and crime are related, you cannot deny that. Look at the postal codes of federal prisoners and the vast majority come from impoverished neighbourhoods. And those problems are myriad just as you said -- drugs, bad parents, gangs, etc. These people are also more likely to be VICTIMS of crime. So let's invest our money in these people now, rather than spend money jailing them AFTER they've committed some kind of crime.

I can't comment on that case since I don't kow the details.

  • @zammmerjammer Yeah Sean Nobel was a young offender too, so you can't really get media info on that either. Another problem! 16 and 17 yr olds who commit murder their names and pictures should be released, if not then once they reach 18!

  • @Jamespot24 Why? What purpose does that serve?

  • @zammmerjammer Because we life in a society where people should have free speech. This is bullshit, especially cause it protects the community.

  • @Jamespot24 How is withholding the names of youthful offenders infringing upon your free speech?

  • @zammmerjammer Silencing the media on any issue is infringing on free speech. When you tell the media "you cant say this" ur infringing.

  • @Jamespot24 The media has no "right" to broadcasting, rather they have to pay for a license and agree to abide by laws and rules. Again, your rights have not been infringed upon in any way. Media blackouts are often imposed if they serve the interests of justice, and that's why youthful offenders usually have their identities kept from the public.

  • @zammmerjammer Well I guess the USA has more rights then we do as they have freedom of the press, and they released that 12 yr old who killed his pregnant step mom. So whatever maybe I should just move to the USA once Obama loses haha.

  • @Jamespot24 Yeah, you should DEF move to the USA. They're doing great right now. They also have the highest incarceration rate IN THE WORLD and it hasn't brought their crime rate down a whit. They also execute children and the mentally retarded & have an insanely high rate of in-prison assaults and rapes so I guess that'll make you happy.

  • @zammmerjammer Unfortunately they can't execute anyone under 18 anymore. But you probably never been to the USA or just to Buffalo or Detroit, those places suck but most places are pretty nice! And if you don't count blacks their crime rate is similar to Canada.

  • @Jamespot24 If you get sentenced to death for a crime you committed when you were 14 that fits the definition of executing a child. Just because your appeals process finally runs out at age 22 doesn't change that fact.

"Unfortunately"? What is wrong with you?

I have been to the USA, and the people are nice enough, but their social structure & "justice" systems are AWFUL because they have the sorts of bullshit you are advocating. THAT is my point.

  • @zammmerjammer Because its good when someone evil enough to commit murder is executed! Now they have to be 18 at the date of the crime, tho life in prison is given to bitch ass ganstas and fucked up kids who would probably be serial killers.

In Canada they are hug and released back onto the street! Only to recommit. At least lock them up or kill them to prevent them from recommitting that method is 100% effective. FACT!

  • @Jamespot24 NOT FACT in any way shape or form.

Canada's crime rate is way lower -- THAT is a fact. And it has been going down for years due to policies that are "soft on crime" that is, they are ACTUALLY EFFECTIVE.

Murdering someone for being a murderer makes no sense and is barbaric. And whether you end up on death row has not so much to do with how "evil" one is, as how POOR one is. It is inherently unjust, so we, and other civilized nations, no longer practice it.

  • @zammmerjammer Still higher then the 50's before the hippies took over, when it gets lower then that we'll start talking. And yes the trend has been downward but by how much? Its not a simple up or down, lol. The fact is its been going down but by very little.

And its not murdering its administering punishment. Is it kidnapping when the cops come to ur house arrest you and put u in prison? Didn't think so bitch!

And part of being a "civilized nation" is punishing murderers and pedophiles!

  • @Jamespot24 How do you know it's higher than in the 50s? StatsCan has only been around since 1971. Crime has been steadily declining since 1991 and in 2006 was the lowest in 25 years.

Funny how when the FACTS don't support your bullshit you decide the facts aren't important.

Murder = willfully killing another person. Also, punishment doesn't work to deter bad behaviour; it just discourages people from getting caught.

Do not call me names -- I didn't call you names. Grow up.

  • @zammmerjammer Canada has lots of money, we don't need to worry about jailing costs :)

Personally I'd prefer to take all tv, weights, decent food, and healthcare out of prisons to cut costs. No air conditioning and no winter heating over 15 degrees Celsius to save on heating costs. And put those people to work so they can earn their keep too! And no education programs or anything remotely nice or enjoyable in prison! I want those people scared shitless about coming back!

  • @Jamespot24 Yeah, well what you want is based on some 18th century notion of making criminals "penitent" and is NOT EFFECTIVE.

"No education programs"? So, how are they supposed to get a legit job when they get out? But no matter as long as you FEEL good about making people suffer, eh?

Not smart. Not helpful. Not effective. Not needed.

So, you're clearly not a conservative with that foolish "Canada has lots of money" comment.

  • @zammmerjammer Yo it doesnt matter if someone who killed people and has tattoos on their eyes gets a PHD from Harvard, no one will ever hire them, thats a fact! If some murderer was working with me I'd quit.

I'd be like "not taking my chances working here"

  • @Jamespot24 1) Most people in jail in this country are not murderers. Most of them aren't even in for violent offences. In fact, HALF of people in custody haven't been convicted of ANYTHING but are only awaiting trial.

    2) Convicts do in fact turn their lives around when people give them a shot. So that's NOT a "fact." But if they get no opportunity to do so... what do you think they're going to do when they get out? Give them job training and they can support themselves upon release.

  • @Jamespot24 Not true. You also seem not to understand the meaning of the word "fact."

  • @Jamespot24 Ok. So you've just outed yourself as a crazy person. Well done.

"The best argument against democracy is a 5-minute conversation with the average voter." -- Winston Churchill

  • @Jamespot24 What does that even mean? "Crack down on criminals"? Send them to jail for longer? For what purpose? That makes people more likely to re-offend and costs the system more. These are BAD policies, not "conservative" ones (especially since they will cost tons of public money).

How about we implement policies that ACTUALLY WORK?

  • i love dushbag cunts who have 100.000 in the bank and eat pussy that work for the CBC out tutch out time :)

  • @uhfnutbar1 Do you need to learn to spell! Ah, but that doesn't matter. Love your vocabulary! and your grammar. Anyone can tell straight away that you're a classy guy! I'll bet you're a big hit with the women. Such charm! And, boy, what an intellect. I'll bet you made it all the way to grade four.

  • @Teachering you are a fucking goof arnt you i hope your prod of yourself becose no one ells realy give shit what it is you think , bace on your superior knowledge of what spelling wow im vary prode of you and your grade 12 what have you done lately with that , sure fuck never learn that not all people are like you are could posable have a learning disabilaty that makes them try 2 times harder then you and posable smarter then you did you .

perfect example of a fucking know it all you are

  • @uhfnutbar1 You need to understand that your use of bad language is not acceptable. You are entitled to an opinion, if you have one, but that expressing your opinion requires that you not speak badly about others - in this case, a female journalist - using crude language. It is undeserved. I'm truly sorry that I humiliated you, but perhaps it did some good since I got your attention. Please remember that others can be offended by what you say.

  • Obviously, doesn't think much of "As It Happens". Football practice = talking to CBC. Get rid land transfer tax = save money. He has balls but no sense.

  • This is disturbingly funny

  • IS THIS GUY DEPRIVING KIDS OF WATER?? LOL FTW.

  • The moment it became clear Toronto was doomed.

  • really classy guy...

  • IN 10 YRS , HIS NAME WILL BE DUST - JUST LIKE JOHN SEWELL

  • SEND HIM TO DACHAU - STARVE HIM OUT

  • my 10 year old dog is smarter then Rob Ford.

  • ford wont cut police budghet so they let him break the law

  • @Costalfisherman, wasn't ignorance at all as there was nothing to be ignorant about. It was treating the CBC at a certain level of unimportance.

  • What a goof! How in the hell did you idiots allow this half-brain to have power?

  • HAHAHAHA! This guy is hilarious! "No just. just go out and get changed! Don't worry about the water right now" Sorry...LOL

  • the fat fuck should loose some weight, i think he should get off the gravy train jeez

  • Clue in, people... the CBC and other liberal media threw everything they had at him throughout the election. This is him flipping them the bird after he won despite their mudslinging, and I'd do the same thing.

  • Rob Ford knows nothing about a good transit system, may'be we should make him take the bus every day and see how he likes it!

  • @TrainmasterCurt hes adding subways whats the problem? hes going to add the Sheppard line then a relief line for downtown. light rail slows down traffic...

  • I get the impression that he really didn't know how to answer the question he was being asked. He repeated himself a few times, only mentioning a couple of specific taxes he planned to get rid of. Cutting costs was the core of his campaign for mayor. I feel as if he should have been able to outline his intentions more concisely while providing much more information than he actually did in this interview.

  • @ebdavidson1 My friend, multiply this by 100 and you get HIS ENTIRE MAYORAL CAMPAIGN. He *can't* explain his plans because he doesn't have any.

Also, he has the intelligence of a fruit fly.

  • Someone rob Ford of his position :(

  • I still can't believe he's the mayor... are we as a city that stupid?

  • He has no idea what he is talking about!!!! I cant believe thtat is our Mayor, I feel sorry for our city, poor Toronto. It is an embarasment that he is our mayor!

  • ford gives it to the cbc

  • Fords an idiot.

  • what a mongoloid

  • This guy is like the homer simpson of politics, he has absolutely no political saavy whatsoever. First of all, money is not ppls first and foremost concern in this city, its ppls safety for gods sake. Second, torontonians r retards for electing this fat fuck. Well, every country (or in this case city) deserves the leader they get.

  • Somebody should tell him the gravy train is not actually filled with gravy and maybe he would not worry so much about it.

  • @RJByrner You just made my year.

  • WOW.. Toronto, what were you thinking?!

  • what a cunt

  • Maybe the CBC shouldn't go around thinking they're entitled to call people anytime and they'll automatically drop what they're doing to grace the mighty CBC with anything they want.

  • @darkridertommy that was the time his publicist said to call him. it was a scheduled call.

  • Rob played the CBC like a cheap fiddle . After their savage attacks on him during the campaign he had a little fun jerking them around . I wonder how long after he hung up did someone explain to this idiot from the CBC that she had been had .

  • @hanksnow82 Yeah, his clever plan to go on national radio and sound like a complete moron really showed the CBC a thing or two...

    ...eesh... typical Ford supporter...

  • Those of you that would knock a person for putting money back into your pockets,

all I have to say.......is open up that of yours wallet and give it back to the city coffers.

    End of Story!

  • @OMGaNEWBIE Oh, I will be... when they increase TTC fares AGAIN. For now I'm just paying to take a cab home after work because my bus service has been cut. Thanks for all those "tax cuts" Ford-voters. Go Ford yourselves.

  • Who's the smarmy, elitist host? She sounds like someone from Harvard.

  • @swami1 You mean she sounds smart? You want dipshits to run things? ...oh wait, I'm talking to a Ford-supporter, of course you do...

  • In case there was any doubt, it's now official that most Toronto inhabitants are fuuuucking stupid! :D

  • don't be surprised if people decide to boycott Toronto now. I live in Kitchener and I used to see this great, colorful mosaic of a metropolis up the road. Suddenly the vision is dark and gray. what people don't realize is I am not the only one seeing this. As soon is it gets more and more attention nationally and internationally it can only have a huge negative effect. Most international travelers are of the liberal persuasion. I hate to see what might happen to TIFF

  • wow

    spreading north of the border

this is 2010 what the hell is going on. So much for "Toronto the good"

  • unqualified rude brute who can't answer simple questions, that's your new mayor Toronto, a mini Sarah Palin!

  • The communist radio program host is a little slow and doesn't get it.

  • People who still think that left-wing or right wing, liberal or conservative, still means anything these days are self-deluded and lost in space! It does not matter what political stripes and flags politicians fly these days, they do not represent the vast majority of citizens, they are the lapdogs of narrowly defined special interest groups and socio-political, economical and cultural elites! The rest of us are on the fringes and majorly fucked!

  • Rob Ford is an example of what happens when the electorate votes because they are "angry", instead of thinking about the choices they make and demanding better candidates. Choosing the lesser of the evils on a ballot box is NOT democracy! Canadian politics at all levels are a joke, just take a look at our federal, provincial and municipal so-called leaders... what a shame that we have accepted mediocrity as the norm!

  • I agree with some stuff he says...but then some stuff he says sounds so FUCKIN stupid! I dunno....hope he does well......seems to wanna do stuff fast so at least thats good.....if the stuff is good......

  • The interviewer sounds disconnected... really odd. She is completely aware that he is a guy who doesn't have any plan and then thinks she can "corner" him with obvious questions.

The fact she would interview him is strange. Isn't it clear what he is? Is she trying to "expose" him? What is the point here?

  • @JFM135 I think she gave him a fair shot to prove he wasn't the ignorant douchebag people say he is. Unfortunately, he's the ignorant douchebag people say he is.

  • @BritneyHearts Oh, so sorry, Brit.......my bad. I didn't know you spoke for everyone! From now on, I'll check with you before replying to someone.

While I'm at it, I'll check with YouTube on why they put that pesky "Reply" button there, too. Heaven forbid people chat with each other.

  • I don't come from a country with democracy, so I have keen interest in the democratic process.Based on my years here in Canada I've noticed that the choice of the winner reflect the priorities of the electorate. Clearly, the electorate that won here are the suburbs, who don't really care about the downtown core. That's a HUGE problem for a city that desperately needs rejuvenation if it is going to compete in the 21st century. Good luck Toronto

  • @BritneyHearts Yeah! The gravy train! Woo-wooooo! Gravy train!! No more gravy train!! Yahoooooo!!! Thank goodness someone is going to stop pouring gravy into a train!!!!! We need regular trains! Damn those wasteful gravy-riders!! GRAVY!!! TRAIN!!! GRAVYTRAINNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!

    Sheesh.

  • Awesome - a mayor who also happens to be a real person. I'm sure the interviewer would have loved to go on to ask him about his favourite Margaret Atwood novel or the most memorable line from Little Mosque on the Prairie, but I don't have time for the CBC either.

Sure, those outrageously expensive retirement parties were great, but they weren't necessarily a good use of public dollars. Looking forward to what happens next.

  • @kubicam It's always nice to see people paying attention. You realize that "those parties" were actually just one party. Keep in check, will ya?

Oh, btw, real people would have taken time to do the interview. What he did was plain rude. If you don't have time, tell them. The station will do something else.

  • @kubicam Sorry, the "real people" I know aren't useless losers. It's too bad you think those 2 things are synonymous.

You "don't have time for CBC"? So, you don't have *time* for a 24-hour news service? You don't have time to be informed? ...sigh...THIS is what a Ford-voter looks like, everyone...

  • @zammmerjammer Do you really think you just displayed the hallmarks of being "informed"? You started off with a weak ad hominem, and then proceeded with some irrelevant strawman argument. And "not having time" for something carries a much more broad meaning than the one you ascribed to it. I'm sorry, but it's a fairly common English expression. It had nothing to do with not having a set period in which I could watch the CBC; which isn't a 24-hour news service, by the way.

    Stay classy.

  • @kubicam CBC radio is on 24-hours with news broadcasts every half-hour -- I know you don't listen to it but that pretty much fits the definition.

When people want politicians to be "real people" it's usually a code for simple-minded, emotional, and foolish. See George W. Bush. That's not an ad hominem. I didn't insult anyone, I disputed your assumed definition.

But well done using that phrase you remember from the 11th grade. Now, if only you could use it correctly...

  • @zammmerjammer Yes it was an ad hominem. You said my "real people" argument failed because Ford is a "useless loser." You even went on to imply that I'm uninformed in order to negate my claims. I don't know how much more textbook you could get.

And be careful, your Bourgeois conceit is shining through. When I said 'real people,' I meant just that.

  • @kubicam Rob Ford is a useless loser. He is also fat. These are not ad hominems. They are keen observations.

Your argument failed because your praise for his "realness" wasn't to do with his hair colour or his shoe size but to his high score on both the uselessness and loser-osity axes. I think real "real" people would find that insulting.

YOU admitted to not watching the CBC because you "don't have time." Are you perhaps too busy writing textbooks on municipal economics? Observation, hypothesis

  • @zammmerjammer Again, textbook. "Rob Ford is fat and I think he is a loser therefore his mayoral policies are wrong." I can't say Kierkegaard would have favoured that technique, but it seems to be quite popular here on Youtube.

Oh and another strawman! No, that is not how I arrived at my conclusion. I was impressed that he was actually candid with a journalist and didn't bow down to the very mention of our great state-broadcaster's name.

  • @kubicam When did I ever use the word "therefore"? I never suggested causation between his fatness and his shitty policies. Ooh... making shit up and having a poor grip on reality -- more characteristics you share with Ford.

Kierkegaard? Really? And yet I'M the bourgeois one? It is to laugh.

"Candid" is not synonymous with "rude" and "inarticulate." But I guess that's just more evidence of his "realness," right?

  • @zammmerjammer You didn't argue causation, but you certainly implied it. Extraneous points like those would be left out in any real discussion on this topic if you didn't mean to use them to develop your case. Clearly you were just trying to score some cheap points.

So academic standards have decreased to such a point where having read standard classics like 'Fear and Trembling' makes me a member of the Bourgeoisie? Cool. I don't think I'll fit in with the Atwood crowd though...

  • @kubicam I did NOT imply it. You are not Kreskin and your crap inferences are not reality. My point was that my saying "Rob Ford is fat" is not an ad hominem. It's a fact. Just like "Rob Ford can't do math" or "Rob Ford is a yutz."

I don't know who you imagine the "Atwood crowd" is? Is it anyone who respects an internationally celebrated author even if they don't personally enjoy her work? So, anyone who's not a yutz?

  • @kubicam Oh, I know. My bourgeois-ity is such a burden. I am typing this on a computer made of caviar and ocelot kittens.

You seem to be conflating "bourgeois" with "correct." Again, not synonymous. Your low opinion of "real" people as, again, useless incorrect ill-informed losers is pretty insulting.

If "real" means "incompetent" then yes, Ford is very "real."

  • @zammmerjammer And for the record, I don't live in TO, so I'm not sure why you would classify me as a Ford voter. Although I've met so many people from Toronto who don't realize that there is a Canada outside the bounds of the TTC, so I can't say I'm awfully surprised.

Let me guess...you're a McGuinty fan too?

  • @kubicam To quote myself, I wrote "THIS is what a Ford-voter looks like, everyone." You have characteristics of a Ford-voter, whether you actually live in Toronto or not doesn't change that. I'm sure there's a half-witted "Ford" where you live that you can lionize.

And thanks to Ford the bounds of the TTC are even more limited than ever.

We're talking about the mayor of Toronto and I'm being criticized for being Toronto-centric? Seriously?

...I feel and ad hominem coming on...

  • Oh, this makes so very sad for Toronto... what a classy and elegant example the leadership of our "flagship" city will provide to the world... shades of W.

  • "The weather in Toronto is stormy today. Heavy winds, thunderstorms and a 100% chance of 4 years of Rob Ford."

Any article beginning with such indignantion for what nearly half of the electorate thinks and values in a Mayor, deserved to be hanged up on by Ford. Good for him; his supporters and team were more important. I hope Ford does like Harper and by and large ignores the Leftard media establishment.

  • @dentrobate54 Uh, HALF the electorate didn't even vote. And guess what? When you become mayor (or Prime Minister), you're EVERYONE'S mayor, including the people who didn't vote for you. But a yutz like Ford wouldn't understand that since he's never been to a "liberry" or seen a movie that didn't include tits and explosions.

  • Rob: "WASTELESS SPENDING!"

    Interviewer: *asks probing question"

Rob: .... "IM GUNNA STOP WASTELESS SPENDING!!"

Interviewer: "Rob, you are a dumb fuck with a stupid, mindless platform based upon brainwashing people by waving money in front of their faces rather than doing anything innovative or beneficial to Toronto in the long-term."

Rob: "...................... IM GUNNA STOP WASTELESS SPENDING!"

  • Ford treated Carol Off like she was an Indian Telemarketer calling to sell him a subscription to "Lesbian Feminist" magazine from some stinky cubicle in Bombay.

    GuuuhBYE!

  • Astounding that the electorate was this gullible. The government we deserve...

  • $275,000,000 surplus you lying ego maniac

  • "MONEY.... thats all people care about. Civic pride, discourse, innovative ideas, looking at other jurisdictions best practices, the quality of life for citizens, the services that tax dollars buy all of these things don't amount to anything because all I care about is MONEY... wait thats all everybody cares about....MONEY right?"

  • @Costalfisherman well it's true the ones that voted for him. Don't tax my hummer

  • Rob Ford for Prime Minister, Rob kick some ass down there at City Hall!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a twat waffle.

  • Rob Ford covered his entire platform here ...

  • This clown in an embarrassment to fat asses everywhere.

  • this guy is an idiot!

  • When he was talking off the phone, I almost expected him to do a Tom Mabe job on her.
