It is preferable to take home the left-overs and eat them later than to throw it away when so many are doing without food.

I actually know a brazillian bbq restaurant in Portugal that's actually an all-you-can-eat restaurant and they do have the notice on each table that you have to pay a fine if you leave too much on your plate - they won't make you pay if it's a bit or two, when you're stuffed, you are! But it does avoid people ordering more than they can eat, which I allways thought a good idea.
