I am also originally a European. I was born and raised in Belgium and most of my relatives live in London, Brussels and Lucerne. I am thankfully naturalized USA. I am not one of those ungrateful Europeans who fail to realize that it is thanks to the Americans that we are not goosestepping around Buckingham and down the Champs Elysees or hanging out in some goulag in Siberia.
My biggest worry is that the USA become more like Europe and go down the same drain it has gone.
I am Catholic, attended Catholic schools my whole life.. I was taught creationism and evolutionism in school.. but if I were running for President, I would understand that politics is not the place for my religion and vice versa. But that's just how America is.

While I understand what you're saying, you have to understand that most Americans are religious, the largest of that being some sort of Christian. The chances of having a President here who isn't a Christian are okay, however with most of the people being Christian, a lot of them wouldn't feel comfortable choosing a candidate who wasn't. Not saying I advocate this behavior.. that's just how it goes.
