  • @189crazygirl nothing. Its just that the place where the dog comes from is called kangal. Most turkish people also call him kangal.

  • I hate the Anatolian sheperd.

  • i have a question (please answer) whats the difference between a turkish kengl and an anatolian sheperd? im so confuised

  • @189crazygirl turkish kangal are bigger stronger faster and much more ;)

  • I love my Anatolian shepherd but she's a runt so she's rather small. Bigger than a German shepherd. She's more of a ginger color than white.

  • i have an anatolian shep and he is as big as a horse:)

  • he is cute

  • Anatolian Shepherd is the best dog ever

  • I have a Karelian Anatolian mix and it is a massive dog often referred to as a Russian bear dog XD

  • they look like a mastiff mixed with a labrador.

  • love my anatolian shepherd ... shes only 10 months ..

svan kangal goverment has the best of these knd of dog in turkey

  • well, I'm from Turkey, and Anatolian Shepherds, "Kangal" as we call them, are really common. and as I've observed, they're breed for strength rather than speed, or agility. they are surely, kick as and are pretty giant-like. but also very warm, since I've kinda grew up with them. if you desire security, protection and loyalty, this is the one for you.

  • me dad weighs 1

    80

  • Wow, Turkish Kangal is a great dog :D

  • some of the dogs shown were kangals

  • @brooklyntree21 ...Kangal, Akabash, & Karabash basically what were bred as Anatolian and in most countries they are listed as either Kangal, Karabash, or Anatolian.

  • Turkey sent these dogs to some villages in africa so it can protect it from bears!!

    pure epicness

  • @gfbzkurt

gayfenerli i didnt know they had bears in africa perhaps you mean wild cats

  • these dogs are the saviours of cheetahs! search cheetah conservation and you will find out

  • None of them look like my dogs! The only problems i've seen are hip/elbow displasia, a lot of people breed for size causing them to have a weak bone structure. Otherwise they live a very long life especially when fed with real dog food (dog food is hard to find in a village, so they feed them barley mash, bones and table scraps) yet they live for a long time.

  • y wont u tell us about there potty trains

  • @XxCyberPegasisxX training ratings are part of potty training, if you didnt know

  • they dont have heart problems.

  • I Love Cats And Dogs

  • Kangal look alike? or the same thing? aha

  • Short fur yah right! At my house you can vaccum 10 times and it's still dirty !

  • do they have heart problems?

  • @isidora121minime not that I know of mine most anatolians have hip problems because they are soo huge.I have one that is part mastiff and the only problem is with his hips.

  • @MissChestnutCurls they are huge but do they really live to be 15?

  • My old friend had a Anatolian that wasn't properly socialized when it was younger, and it became overprotective. Really scary to a 10 year old. When I'd sleep over I'd get up to go to the bathroom or get a drink and that dog would snarl at me. Like legit 'I'm-gonna-tear-you-up' snarling.

Needless to say, I didn't go to his house often.

  • @blackbriar246 This is normal behaviour for old world LGD's ..unless you live with the dog 24/7 the dog won't accept you . CAO and CO are even worse with non pack/family members than the Anatolian is ...these are breeds best kept by knowledgeable enthusiast's :)

  • @TheInsomniac247 Yea, I suppose. It wasn't like a warning growl though. It's hair was on end, it was snapping at the air, and it was flicking its tongue. Imo a properly socialized family dog, no matter the breed, should never be allowed to do that unless someone is being attacked.

There's a good guard dog that won't let strange people near its home, and then there are nervous and overprotective dogs that won't tolerate anyone but immediate family.

I see what you're saying though.

  • @blackbriar246 I know it wouldn't be a warning growl lol as I own two Central Asian Ovcharka, the growl is more of an indication of what it intends to do.

They are aloof not nervous they have a total indifference to anyone that isn't part of their immediate family....but with the people they know they are like supersized lap dogs ...which is a total contrast to the image that people who don't know the breeds get from the dogs :)

  • @TheInsomniac247 That's why I'm thinking it was from a BYB/not properly socialized. It wasn't just aloof, it was nervous. It got obviously agitated when anything different happened, like if the family left for school at 7:00 instead of 8:00. They couldn't take it to pet stores or dog parks and they had to be careful on walks because it was dog and sometimes people aggressive.

Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding the breed, which is likely, but from my view he was just an unstable dog.

  • @blackbriar246 What you need to understand about the LGD breeds is that they're not interested in any people or other animals that aren't part of their pack , they also hate change like new objects in the home or furniture being moved from it's usual place or even a variation to their usual routine..plus they're very dominant around strange dogs and people and under no circumstances should they be off lead at a dog park that's just asking for trouble :)

  • @TheInsomniac247 Agreed about the off leash thing, I think dog parks in general are just not a good idea.

Imo you should teach your dog not to snarl at people who are just passing on the sidewalk or who come to your house often, no matter the breed. Or you should just not own that particular breed. The family had a dog that is quite protective in a household where people were constantly coming and going. Not a good combination.

  • @blackbriar246 My dogs are well controlled when in public and will only growl if someone insists on trying to touch them even though I have told them that the dog doesn't like strangers, because 99.99% of people seem to think large dogs are all soft and cuddly...as for in my home any visitor has to realise that they are a guest and behave as such just as I do in other peoples homes...these breeds are not suitable for anyone who has no knowledge of natural guarding breeds.

  • @TheInsomniac247 See I'm fine with a guarding breed not liking strangers touching them, or being wary around someone new in their home. But this dog went a bit overboard because the family honestly didn't know how to train and live with a guarding breed.

I do really like dogs with a natural guarding instinct. I plan to get a Doberman as soon as my home life is stable enough, and even considered the Anatolian. Lots of Dobe rescues near me though. Hope I didn't come across as hating guard dogs.

  • @blackbriar246 No I don't think you hate guard dogs :) I'm just trying to show the difference between Livestock Guard Dogs and the establish western breeds ...the LGD is like a profesional MMA fighter compared to an amateur boxer thats just starting out ...keeping their family safe is an obsession to the LGD they see everyone else as a threat ...I would recommend an LGD to anyone that has had GSD, Rottie or Dobies but not to a novice owner ..the Dobie would be easier to train :)

  • @TheInsomniac247 I do really like to train my dogs (haven't had one in a long time though). Even stuff that I would never have to use, like shaking hands and spinning around. I was able to teach my friend's Dobe to shake hands in three tries and I was like.... this is gonna be my dog one day. XD

  • @blackbriar246 Training dogs is good fun our GSD picks things up really quick lol but our Ovcharka's are stubborn and if they don't want to do something it very hard to persuade them to do it ...but they are awesome problem solvers lol...they have taught themselves how to open all the doors and cupboards in our house XD

  • @TheInsomniac247 Oh goodness lol. That would be very cute but also a bit of an annoyance. XD We used to have an Olde English Bulldogge, who was from a BYB (we didn't know better back then) and a little inbred. He had a lot of skin/ immune system/ temperament issues. But he could learn commands pretty well. Within a day or two we taught him to ring a bell on the door when he needed to go outside. For a dog that wasn't so bright, it was quite an accomplishment. And VERY useful lol.

  • @blackbriar246 It's very cute because when they've had enough of being trained my male will give me his paw and try to get me to play which is very funny lol. Oh yeah thats quite an accomplishment because Bulldogges are notorious for being hard to train lol :)

  • @TheInsomniac247 Yea he was quite stubborn and not very bright. >.>

  • :D Keep em comming Animal Planet! I love this stuff!

  • I'd like to see a neapolitan mastiff! It would be awesome!

  • I love how they use " parent" instead od " owner" now. Though Dogs will never hold a place equal or higher then my human children, I still call them my " furry kids"... You really do parent a dog, it doesn't make it human, but they are part of the family and your heart

  • @AlienXCherie Well obviously because they are your own children. They say, "parent" because you are supposed to love and care for the dog just was you would your own child.

  • Lol the two below me are bullshit people

  • again another fight??? on AnimalPlanet youtube???? just enjoy the video! it's good!

  • all dogs suck. tarantulas ftw

  • Is the Anatolian the Kangal?

  • @Dan314782

Pretty sure it is, lots of shots in this video show African owners, likely from one of those conservation programs to help keep Cheetahs from wandering into farms.

  • i thought it was kurdish Kangal

  • I'm still waiting for the Caucasian ovchakra!

  • wow o-o my dog is so different from what they say about them....she doesn't need all that much space, she sheds year round, she's super easy to train and very intelligent, and she's my first dog and is great :3

  • :DDDDDDDDDDD i have an anatolian shepher :3

  • i hate when the so called experts tell us maybe their this and this

  • i love you andrea

  • this is a "Sivas" kangal (read like khan-gull) dog (name comes from the sivas district an Anatolian breed neither a "Kurdish" nor a "Turkish" dog. It's a dog mind you it doesn't have a nationality, they were in Anatolia before Kurds or Turks have made their homes in there, they have an extra toe as well and known for their loyalty and resilience.

  • beautiful dog! look at that coloration!

  • this is a KURDISH kengal dog, their names have been removed due to worlds mistreatment of dogs, fascism still exist in the middle east people

  • @enchantresssa thank you, i thought they were oddly similar.

  • ...When did they start referring 'dog owners' as "parents"?

  • @Schyntful Why shouldn't they? Your dog is like your kid, you parent your dog just as you would your child.

  • @cscrignaro No. A dog is a dog. A child is a child. And although I love dogs, I will never see them on the same level as human children.

  • @Schyntful Well then your a terrible dog owner.

  • @cscrignaro And you're a terrible human for valuing an animal on the same level as a human. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Don't you know you're human too? And if dogs are equal to children, do you support euthanizing terminally ill children?

Main point, it's fine to like dogs, but they are NOT children. They're dogs.

  • @Schyntful All life is equal. Why is human life so much more valuable than an animals or in this case a dogs? And yes I do support euthanizing terminally ill children. Why not save the child the pain and suffering and just end it peacfully? It's easier on the family that way.

Main point, all life is equal and should be treated as such. Life on this planet is ment to co-exhist not have one rule over them all.

  • @cscrignaro And... this is when I stop taking you seriously.

    Cool story bro.

  • @Schyntful Yes cause that's very insulting. I don't know why people think saying, "cool story bro" is insulting. It just makes you look like an idoit because you can't rebut my argument. Just do everyone and give your dog anyway to someone who will actually love it and treat it the way a dog should be treated, with love and respect and not as just a pond in a chess game. Have a child instead of a dog then. Cool story? I think so.

  • @cscrignaro You're not very bright... are you? First of all, it's called a PAWN. And second, you had an argument? All I saw was how something that's never made a fire is somehow equal to humans, which isn't an argument, it's bullshit. I treated your verbal diarrhea with exactly the respect it deserved.

  • @Schyntful If all humans were to die today, this planet would flurish with life. If all mosquitoes died today, all life on this planet would cease to exhist within 40 or so years. So whos life is more valuable? The life a mosquitoe or a human? Oh, and by the way, a mosquitoe hasn't made a fire either.

  • @cscrignaro If all humans died today, all domesticated pets and livestock (which are MILLIONS of animals btw) would suffer and probably die slowly. If all mosquitos died today, there would still be plenty of flies, termites, ants, bees, and other insects to fill that niche. Therefore, your argument is invalid and faulty.

  • @Schyntful No they wouldn't. They would resort back to their natural instincts and find food and water and do what is necessary to survive.

  • @cscrignaro ._. OH REALLY? Dogs, breeds like say.. the English bulldog would survive without humans? Or cats like the sphynx cat would do fine in the wild? Let's not forget that the vast majority of turkey farmed for consumption are bred artificially since the toms are too fucking fat to breed naturally. Or how bout those countless marine life in people's home? What are they gonna do? Swim into the wild from their tanks?

  • @Schyntful Its because of humans that they wouldn't be able to survive in the wild. Natural process would eliminate the ones that cannot adapt. If they don't have what it takes then they die. Simple as that.

  • @cscrignaro Yes, but you said, "They would resort back to their natural instincts and find food and water and do what is necessary to survive." And I was pointing how idiotic that remark was since you didn't seem to know the array of domesticated animals.

  • @Schyntful your both fucked-up. End of story.

  • @cscrignaro Your a fucked- up person too. Thats illigal. What country do u live in? Mexico?

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH illegal* you* That's* You`re* You sir, are a moron. Learn how to spell before you call me a, "fucked-up person."

  • @cscrignaro Well sorry I'm not from america! And I'm certanly glad I'm not! And I was referring to the fact that u think EUTHANIZING KIDS is alrigtht. People who do that are as bad as cannabuls so stfu! And FYI, I'm a GIRL!!!

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH I'm not from America either. You spell like a 12 year. How are they as bad as cannibals exactly? Do they eat the child afterwards? No, I'm pretty sure they bury the child. Tell me something, killing is wrong, yes? Well if killing is wrong, is it also wrong to keep someone alive who, by natural order, should be dead?

  • @Schyntful OK. To me, I see ur value as an ant; things people think nothing of and want to get rid of. So these people are dog experts and it is true: you're supposed to parent dogs. Not to the level where you feed them human food all the time( ur only supposed once in a while), but giving them love like a child, play with them as much as a child, and bring them places that allow dogs. U sound like an animal abuser/neglector. Bâtard..

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH LOL. Cry more. And where exactly does it sound like I abuse animals? You're just hilariously butthurt that some people value PEOPLE over animals.

  • @Schyntful Well, animals diserve as much love as humans to be happy. And I'm not crying, and I usually don't cry unless its a life or death situation so back off. But cscrignaro, is more messed up than anyone. He agrees that humans should be euthanized.

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH Lol. I NEVER said that they didn't. You were making false assumptions and putting words in my mouth.

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH Yeah, I do and I can think, feel, act, believe whatever I want.

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH What they mean by, "parent" is referring to the fact that you NEED to love your dog and treat your dog just as you would your own child. Feeding your dog human food, in no way, means you are, "parenting" them. Most human food is not good for dogs. Your actually NEVER supposed to give your dog human food unless it is approved by a vet.

  • @Schyntful Well I do, and if u really loved dogs, then u'd see them as kids.

  • @MyXLifesXLikeXWTH But I would not treat my dog as a human child, because I respect the animal and I treat them as what they are and not humans.

  • great dog!
