  • I would also say that make sure you put your new connecter on with the correct polarity (+ Red) (- Black)

  • i accidently started to cut both wires at once but it started to smoke so i stopped and watched this video later i did solder the batteries right but now i cant get more than a few seconds of power out of it what happened?

  • Good info, nicely produced. I'd add that after tinning your solder cups, use scrap wire with some flux in it or Solder Wick to clean the cup of excess solder. Cup should be empty, with the walls just plated with solder. Put a bit of flux in the empty cup, slide the tinned wire in all the way, then add heat/solder, and viola! A proper solder joint with no voids or oxidized solder, and the 'lay' of the wire strands are not disturbed by trying to push cold solder out of the cup.

  • "Let's solder what we can solder" is what i'd do too! i'd also fly what i can :D

  • Let's solder what we can solder... :D

  • I'm sorry dudes but thumbs down from me. You didn't really show us how to solder it. Camera kept going to your faces instead of concentrating on the actual solder technique!

  • To a lot of people out there its a no brainer, but to one like myself who are just starting its good basic information. Like the vid and look forward to more guys...

    cheers.

  • What s that white stuff u use?

  • Guys, its Solder not soder, SOL DER, SOL DER, soLder, Solllll Der NOT SODER

  • Comment removed

  • Do you mind if we just call Chad... Josh???? :D

  • lol - loved the ending!

  • Nice short and to the point soldering video. I would like to pass on a tip, though. When transferring wires from one connector to the other, only cut off and solder one wire at a time. This way it is almost impossible to "cross the streams".

PS - still would like to get a hat or shirt. How about a Flite Test neckstrap?

  • Yeah, I'd like to see some more non HK stuff, because, let's be honest, we all know that they are not the greatest when it comes to planes. More E-flite/Parkzone stuff etc. like when you guys first started! I bet the majority have more of that stuff

    Anyways, love the show!

  • thanks

keep up the good work you do with all of your video's

  • @all - I dont understand all the fuzz about the intro guys, by the way "i like it the way it is" if u think its to long just take your mouse and jump ahead...no biggy

@all - What i worry about is the HobbyKing here and Hobbyking there part, i hope the joshes didnt sign an exclusive contract, would be a shame. I like this shop, but if HobbyKing wants to hear their name 20 times in a video and ruin one of my favorite internetshows in the process they are not making many points on my scoreboard !

  • I quite like the intro. If you dont, just skip over it.

  • Hey Guys, few points...

    A) I agree, your intro is far toooo long, we got it the first time,, so it soesnt need ramming down our throats, especially as the intro doesnt contain any actual info...

    B) When soldering XT60 plugs, heat the heatshrink just a little bit, then push it right down into the connector to insulate it all, then shrink the rest of it once its firmly down into the connector, so your not leaving any of the connector exposed.

  • @123RCUK

    A) The intro sets a tone and a feel for who we are. I agree that for short segments we should use the shorter version.

    B) We can add this to the written version on our site. Thanks.

  • nice show guys, but i think you forgot a few points i would like to add, ... like the heat of the soldering iron, both sides have to be hot sure, but if its to hot or if you put it on the conection for to long you will literally burn your tin-solder, resulting in a bad conection...always wear safty goggles while soldring, if a wire comes loose it can throw molten tin around, also dont inhale the smoke, its not deadly toxic but certainly dont contribute to your health....keep going guys

  • @WarbirdFan66 Great points! We appreciate what we can learn from our viewers.

  • @flitetest ur welcome, keep going guys...and dont mind the intro chatter - i like it the way it is :)

  • @WarbirdFan66 I love the smell of colophony, and I'm certainly not going to stop inhaling it! (unless it's not colophony but a soldering paste).

  • @mcvspam ...of course you can do what you like, i only wanted to point out that in most modern tin-solders or fluxing agents they dont use colophony anymore, or in addition they use chemical additives that are not very healthy...so allways read the fine print ;)

  • 30 second intro is about 25 seconds too long

hope you guys haven't totally sold out to HK

  • @RCcunuk Not sure what the intro has to do with HK as a sponsor.

  • @flitetest just making 2 statements. neither has anything to do with the other. Statement #1 Long intros suck. Period. Yours is nice and professionally done, however, well done suckness is still suckness

Statement #2 I hope you guys don't say only good things aout Hoy King products only becausbe they sponsor you. I, and I think most other viewers, want honest test reviews, not a 10 minute commercial

  • I was looking forward to watching amazing stuff from you guys but now that HK is sponsoring your segments its been nothing but HK stuff. A How to solder a HK connector was a bit of a let down compared to you're stuff you posted prior to HK...

Atleast Josh is still fun to watch. Some Youtubers are provided products by companies but dont sugar coat there vids to please them. Hopefully you will start to make video like in the begining. Just real honest BIAS opinions.

  • @freemarlochip This segment has been requested by many viewers. While it may be more informative than entertaining, I think we have room for both. IMHO some of our best episodes have been since we brought HK on as a sponsor.

  • now that im alone, let solder what i can solder, gotta love dumb Josh

  • Very nice show!

    Too long intro though..
