  • I did this diet 8 years ago and lost 20 pounds in one month. I never had any head aches. You are never hungry on this diet. But the first couple days it takes a while to break all your adicitions to other foods like sugars.  And the girl in this video is really hot. She should move to watertown sd and start dateing shane who lives at the lake.

  • feeling sick while doing induction is normal...when your body burns fat it will make you sick to your stomach. always drink lots of water and yes when doing this diet you may feel like you have the flu due to the stored toxins being dumped into your blood stream

  • you probably took too much oil at once. Need to go slow to avoid detox symptoms.

  • For those who read this. When the body goes through detoxification. Toxins are realized which causes headaches. It's not a bad thing.

  • I am going to start the atkins tomz hopefully. But im afraid of one thing not be able to have coffee i luv coffee i have to have one cup a day so does anyone have advice???

  • All  diets do are to fuel the insecurities of people,if you have it in mind to lose wieght you can by eating little and often and not gorging,instead of 3 meals a day have cereal breakfast ,fruit for lunch and a balanced evening meal of around 800 calories,the rest is excersise and being mindful of staying out of KFC ,etc.

    No carb is not healthy and taking fatty foods of any kind is not a good solution to ultimately becoming slimmer,your a good looking woman just remember you are what you eat.

  • if you start the atkins diet, u better be on it for life. because the day you stop is the day you will gain back all the weight + more. very unforgiving.

    Good luck and keep it up. Just remember to "not" keep doing "Induction" as some like to do, move along like the book tells ya, so you won't get bored with the diet thus learning how to make this a Lifestyle change and not just another diet.

Carbs are what give you energy and fuel your body, the only reason the atkins diet works even slightly is because people shove white bread, white pasta, NOTHING whole grain and eat junk food and pop. If you would simply eat more whole grains which are full of fiber and nutrition that you need, you'd lose more weight, and fruits and veggies have fiber also, only eat seafood and lean chicken that's organic, meaning that it's not pumped full of antibiotics and hormones that cause cancer

    Carbohydrades fuel muscular contractions, specifically intense muscular contractions. When we are not undergoing strong muscular contractions, in my opinion carrbs are unneccessary. Carbs are not essential to life. Further, in my opinion, taking in high amount of essential fatty acids with lower carbs can help a perrson become "fat adapted". This can increase concentrations of fat burning enzymes. So when in a defecit, its fat that is lost, not muscle.

    I am not saying go zero carbs like atkins, but it is possible to stay strong and big, while getting lean with carbs only post workout and refeeds every 4th or 5th day.

  • Yep, friends do get in the way of diets. My good friend tells me EVERYTIME I try to diet that I look great and then takes me out to this great place to eat. He has messed up more of my diets then I can count. Great job on the weight loss!!! I started Atkins this morning :)

  • The headaches probably come from withdrawals from sugar or caffine. I was on this diet for 8 weeks and went from a size 13 to a size 5.

  • Atkins and other diets fail!!!!!!!! low carb over a long period of time is biochemically equivalent to starving your brain. She even said , she has a headache. You need carbs, they are the energy source. All carbs are not created equal. Complex carbs such as, fruits, veggies, whole wheat bread and pasta and brown rice. Although, you can low carb then high carb, then moderate. Known as carb cycling, it works! This is a better idea, research Carb Cycling.

  • Comparing day 1 and day 6 you look thinner in the face. You sure did loose weight. I don't get headache's with this Atkins diet, not sure why you do. I guess you react different to it than I do. I don't feel like throwing up either. Even before the Atkins I ate a lot of meat so I'm used to this now. I'm actually avoiding read meat and eating more chicken. Did not realize how much I liked chicken until recently.

    I am not "upset w/the world" I merely inform innocent ppl not yet conditioned on yo yo high protein/fat diets that it is unhealthy. Acidosis, bone demineralization, cancer, etc are risks on long term ketogenic diets.

  • You're right Digitalbumpkin, WeightWatchers does suck -- they're greedy bastards and keep their clients food-obsessed...the most you're encouraged to lose there is 1-2lbs/week. Takes forever so they can extend the time ppl are on their program.

  • Crazy! I just started Atkins on Monday & I was looking for videos & saw Bowulf's & yours. I am looking to loose 30 lbs too. I have lost 4 lbs in 5 days. I had 2 lite beers golfing & then a glass of wine @ a special dinner. I bet I could have lost more if I adhered to the diet. Good job for not caving! I find that old habits die hard. I will be checking in w/ you. I am a size 14 and a size 8 is the goal. Good luck!

  • You are exhibiting Induction Flu symptoms - watch my video if you want to learn more about it. The best you can keep drinking your water as your body changes from a carb burning machine to a fat burning machine. The symptoms for me lasted about 1-2 weeks, and then the rest of Induction flu was simply mental -- loss of comfort foods.
