thank you for your review, I have the same Netbook now , but there is something I overlooked,........do you know if this kind of netbook be upgraded with an SSD ? ..I have a 250 GB HDD on mine now and Vista as OS and its getting slow ....I want to replace 1 GB ram with 2 GB, XP instead of Vista ,.....and an SSD instead of the HDD

... Rise of Nations is installed and I play! But I have a secret:-I never turn off my Acer, always use hibernation. Do not worry about the battery. A week later, it hibernated, the battery remains at the same level. Today, in my ACER boot only if the system prompts. I love this ACER.

I just got this for $200 and spent another $50 for a 9 cell battery with the money I save. It's very well built but CPU is under power. You have to do some tweaking...trash pre-install Vista and install your own XP or WIN7...this netbook can do web, emails, music, DVD movies, Youtube....It CAN'T NOT plays Hulu full screen or any HD videos. It can only multitask 2-3 at a time. Great netbook if you don't use it as your HD media player, blueray. etc....regular DVD movies is fine.

I just got this netbook on black friday 2009 at The Shack AKA Radio Shack they had it on sale for $249.00 it too has Vista basic, youtibe streamed video seem to work fine for me. it is al litle slow when open apps. The reselution looks great.

I bought this netbook at Radio shack too and it has the ugly vista basic that is the one thing I don't like I might try upgrading it window 7 starter if I can a copy of cause microsoft does not sell a retail version it is a nice netbook I don't know why they put vista on it.

this must be a downgrade computer just with a big screen< the old aspire one was able to run vista like a charm and every other os. they need to keep the same chip n270 or n280 in it. is this worth a buy if you already have the 8.9inch

I agree about the keyboard. It's a total fail, because there are no edges you can use, to feel where your fingers are, so it's really bad for typing without looking at the keyboard.

I got one. It's really slow. Very nice screen, very long battery life, but filled with crapware, that of course you gotta remove, and too slow to play a regular youtube video properly.

The only reason you'd want Vista is if you were planning on upgrading to the Windows 7 release client (since Vista upgrades easier than XP), but XP is definitely the fastest OS on this machine, and had the XP version been out when I got mine, it would have been my choice 100%. :)

I'd assume a lot of those games are flash, and I've found flash to work much better in XP than vista. Or, another option is you could upgrade to Windows 7...it seems to run a bit better as well. You may find whatever games you want to play work just fine in Vista though.

There are a few methods. You either need a USB optical drive, or you can setup XP from a usb thumb drive. I do it from the USB stick with a program called USB_Multiboot_10

My main gripe with other netbooks is the screen resolution and this remedies that.I owned the Eee 1000HA and I didn't like the screen..and the battery life really fell below expectations,alittle over 3 hours in normal use.I like the price point on these.The XP model is $380 on newegg,which is the one I would choose.Ironically the Vista version is $450.., it have upgraded features.Though I think it renders it crippled with Vista as you said.Also I don't like that the battery protrudes out on this

I just bought the Acer AO751h last week here in the Philippines. The model here has a different battery pack than the one you showed in the video, the battery pack protrudes from the laptop. Got the Ruby Red color, with Vista Home Basic, 2gig DDR2...some video isn't smooth in vlc player, connecting to a USB logitech speakers has some stutters although headphone sounds are great, yeah fingerprints easily seen in ruby reds..but overall i am loving it.

It does struggle with some of the higher rez flash video streaming, but I found the N270/GMA 950 netbooks had similar problems...the performance on most videos was pretty close. It is capable to get setfsb working on it to and overclock it some, for a bit of extra oomph (oddly enough it comes underclocked at 1.24ghz).

Nice review, thanks! I've ordered one, but only with 1gb of RAM and 160gb harddrive. Do you know which RAM that is recomended for this Acer model? I know that it was quite a big job to put in some extra RAM in the other Acer One models, but it seems to be possible in this one. Is there a regular 2.5" harddrive in it, so that I can replace it with a WD 500gb harddrive for example?

I believe it's a standard 2.5" drive, yes...but I didn't look very closely when I had the hatch off. Not sure what type of ram you'd want...I recall reading it supports several speeds, but believe any ram will run at 533 due to the chipset (pretty sure I read that, at least).

fan noise is pretty minimal...I know the 8.9" were known b some to have loud fans, but this is really never noticeable at idle or full load.
